CSOs Threaten To Shut Down Lagos Assembly If Ambode Is Impeached "It is fundamentally the handiwork and retrogressive machinations of political forces of evil determined to keep Lagos State in perpetual bondage of a man playing God over more than 20 million Lagosians with a view to perpetuating a political dynasty of lootocratic recklessness, marauding corruption and a relay regime of nepotistic subjugation accentuated by an intractable malaise of primitive accumulation of the most deadly genre, spearheaded, commanded, guided and goaded by Asiwaju Tinubu we daresay," the groups said. A coalition of civil society groups, under the auspices of Lagos Liberation Movement (LLM), has threatened to shut down the Lagos State House of Assembly, should lawmakers proceed with the impeachment moves against the State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, describing the action as anti-people and treasonable. The lawmakers had threatened to commence impeachment proceedings against the Governor over alleged gross misconduct particularly with regards to the 2019 budget of the state. |

ASABA – EX-AGITATORS , under the aegis of National Assembly of Ex-militants, NAE, have frowned at the declaration of interest by President Muhammadu Buhari to run for second term in office, saying Nigerians could not afford another four years of poverty ridden administration. The group which claimed to have worked for Buhari in the 2015 elections, said it has withdrawn support for Buhari reiterating that the present administration had brought infectious poverty, abandonment of supporters and insincerity to develop Niger Delta region. Acting National Coordinator of the group, Ibifuro Pureheart, said “Buhari’s alleged pursuit of ethnic agenda had left Niger Delta youths poorer than he met them, whereas the President focused more on developing northern youths at the detriment of their counterparts in the Niger Delta region. “The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, was left in the hands of the members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to polarise the youth of the All Progressives Congress in the region. The President has shown enough disdain for those who worked for him while patronising his political enemies. “We cannot afford another four years of Buhari’s poverty ridden regime or else we would all die. The poverty being spread currently brings hopelessness and death upon fellow citizens. It is time we tell Nigerians the truth. Even though the President had our support, we are now calling on the people of the region to chart a new course. “Buhari has disappointed us, we spent our fortunes to bring him to power, we invested our psyche and emotions yet, we have nothing to show for it. With our PVC, we are ready to sack him in 2019. “Power resides in the citizens and we shall sustain the campaign to boot Buhari out of office in 2019. He’s a huge failure and it is time to bring a more trustworthy leader on board.” |
ABUJA-President Muhammadu Buhari’s description of Nigerian youths as lazy in far away London has continued to elicit reactions from different quarters, the latest being the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On Thursday, the party replied President Buhari, saying the youths are hardworking in whatever vocation they found themselves. “How can President Buhari describe Nigerian youths as lazy, when they have proven, without doubt, to be one of the most industrious sets of individuals across the world? “Nigerians find it extremely shocking that President Buhari could make such a false, derogatory and unpatriotic comment against our citizens at a time the nation was looking up to him to properly present our potentials to the global business community. “It is alarming that at every international event, the President makes it a favorite past time to de-market, paint and denigrate our dear nation and her citizens in very negative light,” the statement read in part The party blamed the Buhari administration for what it termed its failure to provide job opportunities to the teeming youths population across the country. The party added: “Here is a President, whose administration has in its three years of governance, contributed nothing towards providing opportunities for our youths and who has not initiated or implemented any development project or set up any industry to provide jobs for our aspiring youths. “Here is a President under whose watch, factories and businesses have shut down resulting in over 24 million job losses and under whom no meaningful foreign direct investment has been attracted to the country. “This is a President who daily watches Nigerian youths sweating on menial jobs under very strenuous conditions on the streets of Abuja, Jos, Lagos, Ibadan, Kano, Kaduna, Maiduguri, Bauchi, Calabar, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Onitsha and other major cities, yet he unsympathetically described them as lazy. “These are the same set of Nigerians who, upon being afforded the right opportunities in other countries of the world, are known to have excelled in various fields of endeavour.
