Biafra agitation secret uncovered!

It is quite clear that the demand for the Sovereign state of Biafra has been politically motivated and unfortunately like many other struggles are hijacked by people with selfish reasons. How will you explain the case of Nnamdi Kanu who pledged last year in a recorded clip to support Nigeria under the government of former Pres. Goodluck Jonathan and suddenly turned a traitor immediately President Mohammadu Buhari took over power? I am led to ask Nnamdi Kanu and his supporters if there would have been a renewed cry for Biafra if President Goodluck Jonathan won the March 2015 Presidential elections.

Permit me to conclude that the present call for a Biafran Nation is a Kanu agenda borne from the irritation of having a Northern Muslim President. Most annoying is the fact that like a common rebel, he captured the psyche of a gullible uneducated few causing mayhem in the South Eastern parts of Nigeria. Thanks to the quick intervention of the Nigerian government who swiftly clamped down on his activities and cruel invitation.

If 2019 becomes the year we have an Igbo man as President, I am certain Biafra would only remain the Nation that never existed. grin grin

The demand is just for an Ibo President not necessarily Biafra

The Biafra Nation That Never Existed - By Buwa Meldrick Memeh

Source: http://www.leadership.ng/editor-pick/the-biafra-nation-that-never-existed

The demand by a section of the Igbos for the sovereign state of Biafra has witnessed self-acclaimed heroes and their supporters championing its cause but after wasted periods of fighting this cause, the casualties of this agitation are always the gullible who are slaughtered while fighting from the frontline and painfully the innocent. The case of the Nigerian Civil War is certainly one that can never be forgotten in a hurry and this explains why the Late Odumegwu Ojukwu stated that ‘‘it is only those who have not been involved in a war that will always push war as the first solution to any problem. War does not solve, it cowers but the problem remains’’.

From Late Odumegwu Ojukwu to Chief Ralph Uwazuruike and much recently Nnamdi Kanu, the demand for a Biafran nation is anchored on the premise that the Igbos as the third largest ethnic group remain marginalized and treated by the Nigerian government as lesser citizens. Whether or not this assertion is true, one thing that stands clear is the fact that the agitators have pursued their agenda putting into consideration the rich oil region of the Niger Delta which has constantly led to the call for an abolition of the 1914 amalgamation. The agitators and other secessionist activists have clearly envisaged a small rich country with its leaders putting its resources into good use by providing basic amenities for its citizens and not saddled with the burden of using its resources to develop a land belonging to Almajaris. The dream of the rich small country where the Igbos would acknowledge they are first citizens and leadership rotate among the Igbos and Igbos alone. The dream of the first black nation with beautiful structures and cities to be compared side by side Dubai, its democracy compared with the United States and indeed a land to be reckoned flowing with milk and honey. Whoever believes all the problems will be solved by achieving this dream country through secession is certainly living in a fool’s paradise.

We must admit that if there ever exist a Biafran Nation, the next struggle will be the demand for self-governance by the people of the South South because as it stands the South South people have clearly stated that it is wrong for anyone to refer to them as Biafra. This has been followed by a stern call for the redesign of the Biafra map which enlist Agbor, Asaba, Ikot-Ekpene, Uyo, Eket, Ogoja, Calabar, Annang, Yenogoa, Warri, Ahoada, Ughelli, Degema and Port-Harcourt as part of Biafra’s 25 provinces. The South South people are quick to understand that they will still be regarded as minority by the dominant Igbos and would find it difficult managing their resources as it exists in present day Nigeria. There is also no doubt that the greatest motivation of any secessionist group still remains the rich oil region and right from 1967 the position of the non-Igbos who occupy the Mid-West States have been rather laissez-faire. The present day South South people accept the Igbos as their neighbors and will prefer it remains so under the Nigerian structure.

Another problem that is clearly visible is the division among the Biafra groups which clearly manifests today with Chief Uwazuruike renaming his group as the Biafra Independent Movement and accusing the Nnamdi Kanu Independent People of Biafra group as violent. To a lot of spectators, this division has always been the problem of the Igbos who have found it difficult to stay united and produce a president in the present day Nigeria.

Thanks to the quick intervention of the Nigerian government who swiftly clamped down on his activities and cruel incitation.

There is no doubt that the Nigerian problem cannot be solved by secession because among the ethnic groups that make up Nigeria, there is still a feel of alienation. Even in the rich Niger-Delta, the various ethnic groups have severally been at logger heads over the control of state resources and power. Some of us have admitted that some of the problems we face in Nigeria is the insincerity on the part of our leaders and their corrupt practices. Any group that believes the solution to its problem is secession might have to think again because till date the South South and South East states still receive the highest in terms of Federal Government allocation but its leaders have failed to effectively utilize the money they receive. Corruption among the leaders have led to individuals pocketing money meant for the development of the region. Those who visit the South South and South East states would be forced to ask their leaders how they spend their allocation. The level of development in those states cannot be compared with what the states generate and allocation received from the Federal Government.

The energy the youths put in demanding for a sovereign state should rather be used to call our leaders to order and demand for accountable leadership. We all witness Governors in Nigeria who claim to have built world class hospitals but the slightest headache force them to receive treatment abroad. Their children do not attend schools in Nigeria and as a result of their misrule there is a huge gap between the rich and poor. The youths have the power to drive social change and the demand for good governance must be pursued with the same vigor that was used to request for a Sovereign state of Biafra.

In other African countries like Egypt, Tunisia and Burkina Faso young people have changed governments and very recently the world was alerted at the protest driven by South African youths demanding a reduction in their tuition fees. As it stands, Nigerians alone have the power to determine the kind of country they want and this must start from a renewed call for responsive leadership.
No doubt the demand for Biafra has attracted sympathy from non-Igbos and more people would be willing to support them if they can successfully put heads together to present a Presidential candidate for the year 2019 which represents their best chance at clinching the Presidency. If 2019 becomes the year we have an Igbo man as President, I am certain Biafra would only remain the Nation that never existed.

Politics / Will Tradition Support The Father Of The Oni Of Ife Prostrating To His Son? by Ngozi24(f): 10:20pm On Nov 02, 2015
The argument that ensued in my ffice was centered on the Oni of Ife and his father. Obviously the father is elderly but not too old to sit on the throne. We wondered why the 40 year old son was chosen when his father is still alive and the real argument was, Is it right for the father of the Oni of Ife to prostrate to his son.

One group argued that in Yoruba land, it is a taboo for a father to bow to his son.
The other group argued that the father must prostrate to the son because the son is a symbol of the throne. The father is not bowing to the son but acknowledging the throne and prostrating.

What's your take guys?

Nairaland / General / Much Ado About Homosexuality by Ngozi24(f): 7:51pm On Aug 10, 2015
By Buwa Meldrick Memeh

I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say, sorry. I mean I would much rather go to the other place. I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this. I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid – Desmond Tutu.

My first reaction to the above quote was expressed in questions. How could a retired Anglican Bishop preach salvation and openly declare support for homosexuality? Could he be one of the end time preachers the Bible talked about? Should I show love to homosexuals or rebuff homosexuals?

Firstly I must state this. I am not gay. I can never be gay and in fact I strongly hate the act. I love the opposite sex and this explains why I chased after my former colleague who has become my wife today and I love her but truth must be told. I do not expect you to love my wife because like they say, one man’s meat is another man’s poison, but I expect you to respect my choice of having her as my wife. The first problem I will have with you or any member of my family will be based on your inability to tolerate the love I have for my wife and any attempt to get me divorce her in order to marry the woman you feel is best for me.

This brings me to one of the issues we have as a people. Our inability to tolerate others because we feel our opinion and belief is supreme. For that singular fact everyone must accept things in our own ways. I am a Christian but I would not force my doctrine on you neither can I force you to accept my religion. I can only discuss with you and if you feel a conviction, it’s left for you to join me in my faith, besides the Bible makes it clear that it is only God who draws men to him.

I was forced to block an old schoolmate of mine with his constant barraging of his religious sentiment on my Facebook timeline and condemnation of my faith. It was his attitude of spitting fire and condemning my religion and this has been the issue with the Boko Haram insurgents who insist that everyone must be Islam. Thankfully some Muslims have openly condemned their intolerance and affirmed the freedom of man to associate with any religion. This in itself is Democracy and this takes me back to the issue of Homosexuality.

A lot of us have condemned the act and as I earlier said, I condemn it in entirety but should we crucify the perpetrators, am sorry I don’t think so. Must we constantly send death threats to the people involved in homosexuality like I saw on Bisi Alimi’s page? I still say, NO. If we continue in that light, how different are we from the Boko Haram insurgents making life miserable in the Northern part of Nigeria?

In all sincerity, we have missed it. Right from the period we chose to embrace the Western culture, one thing became inevitable and that is absorbing the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of the West. I think the focus should be shifted to the parents who have failed to instill proper values in their children. The focus should be on the parents who value money at the expense of the future of their children. The focus should be on the pastors who refuse to preach the message of salvation and have focused on the message of prosperity; the focus should be centered on the political clergy who have chosen to use their crowd to the advantage of a political party. We have missed it.

Why have I focused on the family and religious institutions? Our clergymen have a big role to play in shaping every society and through their teachings they are meant to explain and promote the various components of a just social order. Unfortunately some of them have concentrated on the gains that come from politics and are more concerned with associating with politicians than the flocks under their watch.

On the part of the family, the culture of 6am to 6pm hardly affords parents the opportunity to protect their children and guide them on the kind of television programmes to watch and very importantly, the company they keep. You hardly see a youth today who is not conversant with the Kardashians and in fact they have become role models to lots of our youths and this explains why painfully we can only condemn the act but our society is gradually breeding more Caitlyn Jenner and homosexuals.

If anyone had told our great grand fathers that in 2015, our National Assembly would be discussing Homosexuality, I am very sure they would doubt it but here we are today. The Senate has succeeded in passing a law prohibiting homosexuality but has that solved the problem? Hate me on this, but I will tell you this evil has come to stay and this explains why I wasn’t surprised when a young lady called in to a popular programme to express her displeasure with the senate legislation against homosexuality. Her comments revealed her strong preference for same sex and it dawned on me that our young people have gravely been influenced by the West.

One thing is certain and that is the fact that I can never be lured or influenced by the act of homosexuality but then my stance on the senate rule on homosexuality has always been neutral. God forbid any child of mine chooses that path and that explains why we must be very interested in everything concerning our children. It is most important to bring up your child in the way of the Lord, and like the holy book says when he grows, he will not depart from it.

After all said and done if any child insists on been gay, I can only respect his wish but never cease to pray for him as I leave him in the hands of God. Every man will certainly bear the consequence of his action and God remains the judge.

Should homosexuality be regarded as criminal? I don’t still think so. They have neither stolen from me nor infringed on my rights. Painfully it is the bitter pill coming along with globalization. What is most important is to focus on building strong institutions and our religious leaders must focus on their calling because they will be held accountable by God on how well they used their ministry to positively impact their society. We need to go back to the drawing board and build our homes according to set morals and proper value standards.

Politics / Ekweremadu: The Making Of A Leader East Of The Niger - By Emeka Nwokolo by Ngozi24(f): 12:09pm On Jul 10, 2015
The American leadership guru, Dr J.C Maxwell, rightly posits that everything rises and falls on leadership, to underscore the overriding importance of purposeful leadership in all strands of human organisations.
It implies that unless, and until those charged with leadership positions imbibe the nitty-gritty of leadership and rigorously apply same, the domains under their watch would be rudderless, or at best would deliver at less their potentials.
Regrettably, Nigerians have the singular ill luck of inhabiting a clime where the serious business of leadership as a veritable tool for social engineering has been so badly trivialized. Every leader defines and applies the concept of leadership to suit their whims and caprices.
This aberration has left us squelching in the mire of motion with marginal movement, in a geo-polity that unabashedly prides itself as a potential great nation in the midst of huge endowments. And ruefully, we are enmeshed in inexplicable age-long contradictory puzzles that are only emblematic of ruinous leadership ineptitude. Samplers: Nigeria is providentially located in a green belt of the global space, and richly endowed with virtually every desirable thing, human and material, yet she is poor and tearfully short in major indices of global competitiveness.
If, indeed, we are agreed, as is the case in saner climes, that leadership drives development, and can also make or mar any geo-polity, then the magic wand for resolving these contradictory puzzles lies in our correct re-definition and application of the true essence of leadership, away from the self-serving contraption as currently entrenched in our body-politic.
Happily, it is hope-inspiring that in spite of the pervading cesspool of leadership rot in the land, a few self-restrained and patriotic folks in the corridors of power are already towing the worthy path of the advocated leadership re-definition and paradigm shift.
East of the Niger, standing tall in the sparsely populated clan of altruistic leaders in Nigeria who strongly believe that leadership should necessarily be forged and deployed on the anvils of egalitarianism, is the Enugu West political gladiator, Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu CFR, Deputy President of the Senate.
As if divinely cut out to effect a generational political leadership change, Ekweremadu has steadily grown into a political stature of reckoning with an enviable record of achievements that has dimmed his predecessors’, and that might remain too lofty for his successors to match or beat. Trained as a lawyer, Ekweremadu made a foray into public leadership in 1996, when he meritoriously served as the first executive chairman of Aninri Local Government Council for three years. 1999, he joined the less result-oriented but publicity-crazy Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani administration, first as chief of staff, and later redeployed as secretary to the state government.
Diligently performing his duties, and maintaining a self-effacing visage that concealed his self-assertiveness, grave leadership DNA and falsely portrayed him before his principal as a pawn that could be easily manipulated on the altar of surrogacy, and therefore a worthy candidate for planting in the Enugu State body-politic to help perpetuate the then fast burgeoning inglorious ebeano political dynasty, Ekweremadu tactfully entered Dr. Nnamani’s spirit, and gained an unprecedented quantum leap on the ladder of political visibility.
Basking in his master’s good graces, in 2003, the opportunity came for Ekeremadu (Ikeoha Ndigbo) to coast to the Senate, borne aloft on the dual wings of solid performance as chief of staff and SSG. Playing on the national political turf since 2003, with a lot more latitude that amply allows for a sharper self-definition, the Ikeoha has since progressively unleashed his pragmatic leadership DNA on the fatherland.
On the national and international scenes, Ekweremadu has brought his leadership and administrative acumen to bear on his handling of various challenging assignments entrusted to him, such as the chairmanship of various senate committees, including the 1999 constitution amendment committee, and speakership of the ECOWAS Parliament. As Speaker of the parliament, he repositioned the hitherto tepid West African sub-regional body to realize its vision and mission to the admiration and commendation of all member states.
As a stabilizing force in the ever slippery and intrigues-strewn NASS politics, he has shown unalloyed loyalty to the office of the President of the Senate, and endeared himself to his colleagues. But for legislators like him, his former principal David Mark, Ndoma-Egba and a few others, who have elevated crisis management and tension diffusion to an art, Nigeria would have had a sad story to tell in the wake of the tension generated by the then ever pugnacious opposition, especially during the gale of defections from the PDP to the APC. He was part of the 7th senate leadership that ingeniously resolved the leadership crisis that nearly tore the nation apart during the late President Yar’Adua’s long leave of medical absence, via the smart application of the now famous doctrine of necessity.
In his three-fold functions of lawmaking, oversight and representation, he has creditably done well, besides exercising himself in further scholarship, having recently bagged a Ph.D in Law, lending credence to the dictum that good leaders are readers. In constituency projects execution, the Ikeoha has posted an impressive performance as can be seen in the numerous projects spanning roads, schools, scholarships, healthcare, libraries, mass literacy, electricity, water supply, care for the poor and vulnerable and town halls. Using his influence, and working closely with his colleagues, he made the long overdue Enugu International Airport, the over 11 billion naira road construction linking Enugu and Ebonyi States, and the NOUN study centre in Awgu, designed to provide seamless tertiary educational opportunities for his people a reality. Testimonies also abound, that the senator has graciously been giving recommendations and endorsements that have attracted employments, political appointments and university admissions to qualified beneficiaries within and outside his constituency. He has also empowered many promising political leaders by successfully sponsoring them to gain a perch on elective positions as councilors, council chairmen, state and national assembly lawmakers.
A chip from the old untainted block of patriotism and statesmanship, he has in about two unbroken decades passed through the tempering crucible of political leadership from the local, state to the federal, holding and exercising critical positions that have gainfully impacted the system. His international exposure in the room of Speaker of the ECOWAS parliament has put a varnish on his pedigree. Hear the patriot in his recent address to the PDP National Assembly members-elect at a retreat in Port Harcourt: “being in opposition is an opportunity for soul-searching,… and responsible opposition critical to… good governance”, warning them to shun “market square propaganda and destructive criticism that turn truth upside-down or tend to incite the citizenry against the government in power”.
His re-election as the Deputy President of the 8th Senate on a bi-partisan basis even when his party, the PDP, is in opposition shows Ekweremadu as an irrepressible constant in the national political power grid equation, buoyed by his high social capital that cuts across the national socio-political divides. With his wealth of experience, innate temperance, loyalty and unfeigned patriotism, we can trust that PMB, Senate President Saraki, the NASS and indeed, the entire nation are in good change-conscious company.
As a committed leadership practitioner, he has demonstrated that, indeed, everything rises and falls on leadership by wisely applying the art of leadership to heed the John Wesley’s time-honoured counsel: Do all the good you can; by all the means you can; in all the ways you can; in all the places you can; at all the times you can; to all the people you can; as long as you can.
All considered, there are discernible prophetic signs in the national horizon that someday, when they shall look East for a truly great leader, the diverse political forces in the land might agreeably conspire to give the result-oriented Ekweremadu political peregrination the deserved push to ultimately gain a perch on the pinnacle of the nation’s leadership ladder. This is the only way Nigeria could harness, in full measure, the shining potentials inherent in the leadership DNA of this great national asset which the Ikeoha embodies.

Politics / FG And N5,000 Monthly Allowance For Unemployed Nigerians by Ngozi24(f): 1:59am On Jun 20, 2015
The news reached us that over the weekend the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo had declared that the Federal Government was keen on delivering its campaign promises by paying 5000 naira to the unemployed and the poorest youths in the country. Some Nigerians applauded the initiative with the opinion that it was not only an indication of better things to come but it indeed showed the commitment of the Federal Government in fulfilling its campaign promises and alleviating the sufferings of the common man. For some of us it was most surprising since we believed it was one of those juicy campaign promises that would never be talked about if eventually the APC got into power. There was nothing to be sceptical about because we understood that right from day one this promise was made, it only resulted from the spur of that moment and Indeed most of the promises were better off unfulfilled. Of course we understand that in a bid to win the 2015 elections, a lot of unachievable promises might have being made out of the stress that accompanied the campaign and the strong desire to gather juicy points to win the electorates but in the words of my Warri brothers ‘’all those scope na wash’’.
About two weeks after the elections it was expected that reality must have dawned on the political actors and this would be a time to revisit those ostentatious promises and be sincere about what Nigerians should expect from the Buhari led government. Of course you will certainly agree with me that it is an arrangement of putting the cart before the house but as a realist and one who accepts the fact that in today’s world the Politicians feel more comfortable telling you what you want to hear than the truth or the real situation and that explains why some parents and school children danced the latest steps when the APC scattered boards around Lagos with the promise of a meal per day for all school children.
A lot of questions kept running through my mind and I kept asking, ‘’What mechanism has been put in place or what mechanism would the APC put in place to ensure that indeed only the unemployed and poorest people benefit from this money’’? What parameters will be used in measuring those regarded as poor? Will we not be committing the same mistakes made by the PDP by enriching a few pockets at the expense of the intended target? Does the APC or does Nigeria have a record and database of unemployed citizens? If a man is regarded as unemployed today he can be gainfully employed tomorrow recovering the years the caterpillars have eaten up from him by receiving a pay package that could cover up his years of joblessness. How do we get that update on his change of status and even when the update is made, how are we sure that those who are in charge of disbursing this money would not be tempted to voluntarily continue receiving it on behalf of the once unemployed youth knowing the corruption bedevilling the civil service and society at large. President Buhari must be very careful not to create another avenue for a scam which will further destroy every good intention he has for the country.
Using the statistics of 2014, Dr. Okonjo Iweala reported that about 1.8 million graduates enter the labour market every year and no fewer than 5.3 million youths are jobless in the country not forgetting the fact that in 2014 the National Bureau of Statistics put the population of Nigerians in poverty at 112 million representing about 67 per cent of the country’s 167 million population. Using the 2014 data, the question we must ask ourselves is can the government sustain the payment of 5,000 naira to an estimated target of 112 million naira monthly considering the country’s overdependence on the oil sector and huge recurrent expenditure? At present the states are unable to pay their workers blaming it on the dwindling allocation from the Federal government. Some states owe as much as 8 months and the Federal government is yet to put an end to the lingering fuel scarcity inherited from the Jonathan led administration. Bearing all these in mind, how sustainable and viable is the initiative?
Another angle we may look at this initiative is from the Ayo Fayose stomach infrastructure perspective. The theory of catching the fish for the people and not empowering them or teaching them the skills used in catching the fish. Can we afford to go with that strategy at this age and time making some people heavily dependent on that 5,000 naira to be paid by the Federal Government? I am quite sure that not even the Federal Government can confidently promise to be prompt in the payment of that amount or continue with the payment of 5000 naira throughout its tenure without defaulting. It would be unfair to raise the hopes of the unemployed and poor and default in payment or start owing them especially when elections draw closer.
In all sincerity we must commend President Buhari on his determination and zeal to deliver and fulfil his campaign promises but Mr. President must also sit down and face the reality that has greeted him. I can confidently tell you that the school children are eagerly waiting for President Buhari to kick start the free lunch he promised them and some parents cannot wait to strike it out from their monthly family budget but President Buhari needs to more realistic on his set goals. Why must we embark on an unachievable project just because we have made a promise? The Warri man would say ‘’We no dey use shame chop winch’’. Is the Buhari led administration out to impress and shame its critics? It will surely be a bigger shame if President Buhari embarks on this plan and fails to complete or deliver as promised. In fact Nigerians will not forgive him and it will be regarded as another wasteful administration.
President Buhari has to look at the bigger picture by concentrating on the most important aspects and creating an investment friendly environment. His efforts and recent meetings with World leaders are steps moving at the right direction but he would derail or get distracted when he becomes the fisherman who decides to catch the fish for the poor and unemployed rather than empowering them or building strategies targeted at human capital development. As a matter of fact, President Buhari would be doing more harm than good to the poor and unemployed if he goes ahead with the plan to pay 5000 naira.
If President Buhari successfully addresses the issue of security, power and corruption amongst others, he would have successfully given the poor and unemployed more than 5,000 naira because a large number of the unemployed would have been absorbed into the labour market and there will be a great reduction in the poverty level. The mouths of the public officers who are presently salivating to take advantage of the 5,000 naira plan would have been left dry.
Still in the spirit of change we anticipate a successful tenure. God bless Nigeria.

Career / Re: How Access Bank Treated Us Unjustly by Ngozi24(f): 8:39am On May 21, 2015
rightthing276:
First of all, I want to start by saying I created this Account, just to remain annonymous for now.

My story

In May 2014, Access Bank started A Project called Project ART. The ART means Account Reactivation Team.

Access Bank recruited DSAs (Via various Out sourcing firms)from All over Nigeria with the job function of Reactivating and opening New Accounts. They made all sorts of promises to us which I would highlight below

The Bank said, We would be paid a basic salary of 40,000Naira. Every other extra earnings would come from incentives. The incentive structure was thus, if you open or reactivate an account and the customer takes an ATM card, you get 100 naira, if a customer subscribes for Mobile Banking, another 100 naira, if they subscribe for internet banking, Another 100 naira. Meaning, a DSA can make as much as 300 naira per account. So if I'm able to sign on like 1000 accounts in a month, I can make as much as 200,000 after gathering and counting my 100 Naira. This was really a good deal

The bank set the monthly target at 200 accounts and said, if you can achieve above 200 accounts, that's an A* (A star) grade for the month, if by 6 months, you get an A* in your appraisal, you will get an ipad and a recommendation letter for being outstanding and if by the end of one year, you get an A*

In your annual appraisal, you will be sent to Access bank training school and converted to a full staff of Access bank.
The MD of Access Bank himself, Herbert Wigwe, came out himself and addressed DSAs, highlighting and affirming all these promises, So we were to be sure that it wasn't another recruitment scam.

Hearing all these good news from the horse's mouth was really a spur and so there and then, a lot of us made up our minds to succeed.

So we started work and a lot of people hit and surpassed the targets, you should have seen the way my colleagues worked hard, opening accounts; I mean ALL kinds: Salary , students, regulars, co-operates etc. Some people even travelled outside Lagos to open accounts and get deals. It was that serious.

NB: The DSAs where placed under the supervision of full staff, each team had 10 DSAs and 3 proffessional staff. The structure was, The DSAs would source for the accounts and tag it to the MIS codes of the full staff, meaning, if I work, it would count for some one else in the bank, so basicaly, the full staff would just sit down and be pressing computer, inside AC,while the DSAs would do the Hustling.

Two months into the job, Access bank reduced the basic salary from 40 to 35,000 naira, giving reasons that it was a deduction for health insurance and till today, we did not sign any papers to that effect. Lots of people couldn't take it and so they resigned, infact, that was when the project started loosing core materials(human Assets).

Some people held on, for the hope ahead. By the 3rd month, lots of people were on A*, they met and surpassed the Target. So Access bank maybe did profit and loss and increased the target to 400 accounts a month.

This was the point where I feared my colleagues. There was this girl, Goodness from VI team, that girl is good! There were others like Otaigbe same VI team, there was Lara, Ikeja team, Mayowa too and there was this other born-again girl like that. I call this one Principality mehn! Her name Esther from Apapa team. I think by the end of the project, she was the over all best, I mean National best. I heard her grade was around 150%. That's like an A superstar. She was a game changer and I admired her secretly.

Meanwhile, the first set of incentives came in the 3rd month which was july, the second set came in September so you can imagine people feeding off on 35k for like two months. By the time the incentive started coming in, it was nothing to write home about: people were getting as low as 3000, 6000, 1500. Someone even got 100 naira as I heard. Customers where not funding the accounts immediately, others didn't want ATM cards.

By October, the 3rd set of incentive was suppose to be out and paid, that was were we got the bulkest of incentives since the beginning of the Project. At least, I saw mine was arround 31k but guess what? It has not been paid even as we speak! Since October 2014.

To cut a long story short, by December, Access bank called off the project. I guess the DSAs had fufilled the mission before the set time. So DSAs were put on hold till the verdict was announced on who and who would go to training school. By this time, a lot of people had left, some other waited but the bank wasn't communicating anything to the DSA and so others left too as they lost hope.

Most of these people who left were the real materials while most of those who remained were junks. When a DSA leaves, his work is divided amongst his other colleagues, meaning, if we are 10 and 5 leave, all there accounts would be shared to the thus boosting the grades of some of those junk heads who remained. So most of those left overs would then be having grades like D to C and before you know it A, even when they didn't really work for it. Just a few did work for it Like Principality, Goodness, Otaigbe, Kunle, Lara, Rotibi as I can remeber.

By March this year, the verdict was taken. The full staff had been graded and paid bonuses based on the works of the DSAs, and so the DSAs were expectant. Training school was sure for some even though the Ipad had not yet come and it was past six months.

Guess what the bank did, they reposted the DSAs left to a new team to continue as DSAs- no promotion, no training school, just imagine! No salary upgrade, same 35,000 niara, infact no communication on incentives too.

This is very painful and I'm using this medium to say "Dear Herbert Wigwe, dear Toba Olusola, dear Victor Otuokwu, this is not what you promised us". We feel used and dumped, you told us yourselves that we would be staffed and if you cannot fuffil your obligation to your first customer(your Staff), then I doubt if your second customers should take you seriously. This is an intergrity issue as well.

Some of my colleagues were sacked for stealing and suppressing cash, Access bank has stolen and suppressed over 8 months of our lives and I tag it an intergrity issue as well.

Yesterday, we heard that finally, the Ipad for the exceptional DSAs was ready and guess what, The bank has been disbursing them to those junk heads and has refused to give to those who stayed till the end of the project and also qualified for the Ipads before leaving, saying that provision was not made for those who left. This is so wrong, it is their hard work, Access bank was suppose to give them in October but didn't, why won't you give them the reward of their labour now? Its just like saying you won't pay someone who left your job an outstanding 3 months salary because they left

Dear Herbert, Dear Bolaji, this is another intergrity issue.

Please MODS, move this to the right Spot until appropraite decisions are taken.

Disclaimer: to all those whose names were mentioned, you never can tell, I may have just helped you communicate all you have been unable to say, I may have just helped you get your due reward so don't get angry but be hopeful for a blessing.

@ poster

that's true sha!! My neighbour has a dog that has been in the family for 15 years!! A little older than his first son! You can imagine making such a statement to him!!! Some dogs are family!!!

What? I can't believe you concurred. How does your colleagues comment affect the efficacy of his job. Is the dog more important than the country you boss lives in? Maybe your boss should be contacted so he understands he can go back to his country and forget the business if he is pained by the death of the dog rather than terminating appointments. We need more serious investors in Nigeria, obviously your boss isn't.

I paid for two months, that's April and May in advance still my account was suspended and I was told to go and pay the remaining balance of 1000naira after I spent about 500naira airtime calling their customer care line and they deliberately refused to pick my call.honestly speaking,DSTV is taken Nigerians for granted and getting away with it.as for me,I am done with them

Yes DSTV is taking advantage of Nigerians but don't forget Nigerians work for them. The Nigerians are the ones helping them in stealing from us. We are our own problems.
