Wen it comes to culture that favours men in the pass...the women say is uncivilization....like a man having the privilege of keeping concubine

they forget that in a civilize world women pay their bills.

I want to make my hair, change my phone, send me credit, take me to see movie, give me money for shopping.
It is his responsibility to take care of me...They would say.
Women should apply civilization to every phantom of life not just the ones dat favours them

I don't know which women you've been moving with but many of us here pay our bills.talking about I should go cheat and let my husband catch me and so? I won't bother to cheat but leave his ass but for the women who cheat daily so tongue what can he do beyond leave her and then ? She'll remarry a more correct man sef. Abeg all those yeye threats don't work on today's woman jare

A woman with time will stop respecting her husband li2 by li2, if she cheats on him, nd after a yl, fall out of love wiv him, this is due to d very emotional nature of women, buh a man cheats ND it's Nuffn, he has no emotional attachment to d woman he is cheating on his wife wiv, it's just chop n clean mouth..... How many married guys dnt cheat now adays?? Really few if u ask me

Na lie, I know women who are cheating and their husbands would be here saying my wife never because nothing has changed about the way they treat their spouses. Married women also cheat for strictly sex so emotions don't even come in. How many married women don't cheat nowadays You men be deceiving yourselves

You better first get yourself out of that house before he strangles you to death one day. You are the breadwinner in that home so clearly you'll be financially okay on your own. Get yourself a lawyer to advise you on how to go about the separation process to make sure you get to take your kids with you. If he kills your enemy the chauvusitic society will still blame you. See one above saying maybe you offended him angry because to them a woman is always at fault anyway. His mother and father must also have offended him abi angry I'am sure he offends you too as all couples do yet you don't poison his food but someone is trying to justify strangling a human being angry

Get a lawyer and start the separation process. If he says he wants to reconcile after that list your conditions first of which one must be for him to see a qualified psychologist because clearly there is something wrong with him. Don't let any stupid tears and declaration of love move you o.

I sometimes marvelled at women that agitates for gender equality , if it were to be a man he would have been manhandled or probably lynched, in the case of a woman, soft touch like techno phones.

It's because of the area where she robbed not her gender, in rough areas they treat women just as bad and that's not right. No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. This is a more civilized way if handling things

The hypocrisy of Nigerians makes me laugh. God hates divorce , adultery, fornication, lying, stealing and others yet it's only divorce Nigerians make noise about. You will see adulterers and fornicators telling a divorcee how God hates divorce. If Nigerians stayed away from everything God hates the Country won't be a mess. Nigerians are just hypocrites who choose to focus on whatever suits them and ignore what doesnt

She should also be jailed and he should also feel from her the same way we advise women to . We talk about women more because most of the victims are women but it doesn't matter. Violence is bad and anyone hitting another should be dealt him with by the law. That someone insulted you or cheated is not an excuse to hit them rather leave the relationship than allow yourself be turned into a monster

I am so sorry about this topic. We have dropped it from the home page. Victim blaming is something that should never be condoned. It's not bad to say, 'here are the things you can do to protect yourself', but to say that the people who have been abused are the "main cause" is evil.

tell that to tens of women that got beaten by their spouse because of verbal abuse, the law is not always right,it wasn't formed by angels,if the law tends to serve the females more than the males, there will be chaos...so they should keep on insulting and the beatings will keep on resurfacing

And you lot will keep getting jailed and killed too after you've ruined your lives

I know all am saying is that it should be criminalise,

That can nev happen, how do you quantify it? If you tell your wife are you crazy in a moment of anger and she says that's verbal abuse to her can you be jailed for that Fact is what constitutes verbal abuse has grey areas and can't be clear,y defined unlike physical abuse. If we start criminizing verbal abuse half of those on nairaland will be jailed sef with all the insults and curses flying left , right , center . What time do courts have to deal with such

I just want to appreciate you for this very sane comment..... It is quite appalling how quickly we are to shift in our seats when issues like this are discussed, trying hard not to be caught on the wrong side of the room. I will state categorically that as many women are victims of DV so are men!

The case should be against hitting someone who is weaker, defenseless to not hitting atall when provoked and not just women because alot of women today are perpatrators of DV, they are quick to use their fist, sharp instruments or whatever it is they can lay their hands on etc to drive home their anger and when this occurs you dont hear condemnation but phrases such as “ no vex leave am, na woman”, “you be orle o! Na woman dey beat you”.

I have personally witnessed relationships where the women are fighters, quick to

use their fist..... We should condemn all forms of violence from and on both sexes and stop acting like it is only a male thing.

You are right all forms of violence are wrong. People talk more about women because most of those who are killed are women. Generally Nigerians are bullies who pick on those physically weaker than them. Men in uniform will beat civilians, men will beat women, women will beat maids, school seniors will beat juniors and e.t.c

Ronke had the option of not getting married to that thing of a man. I tell you this, during the time of courtship, that man must have shown Ronke that he's abusive, but she, made the choice of marrying him and getting abused and finally killed.

I've always said that women are often the bane of their own problems! That's what you see them do often.

I don't think that's always true, sometimes circumstances spchange within the course of a marriage and that's when you start seeing characteristics of your spouse that you've never seen before. But she should have left when he started beating her. On the other hand it's all the people around that will convince her God hates divorce and prayer can change anything, a woman fights for her home , blah blah.

A girl was narrating how her father used to beat her mother and the woman moved out. Some of these people convinced her to give him another trail for just 2 weeks. Guess what he had killed her before the 2 weeks was over lipsrsealed and he is a uniform man and got away with it. Apparently he and his colleagues were even boasting angry when they come on nairaland and we can see the signs and tell them to leave the people here will label us bitter women who hate marriage cheesy when they go back and die the same people that advised the, to go back will then be saying ahh why didn't she just leave angry the hypocrisy of Nigerians

It takes a strong woman to say fu to society and run for her life and that's why I commend Tiwa. Let people run their mouths at least the babe is alive. Before you know it she will be remarried and move on whereas dead women can't angry

This is among the reason why I'm a staunch advocate of couples living together before they tie the knot. Because, there is no way an abusive of cheating spouse will not show his or her true color when living with each other.

There's a saying in pidgin English, "character be like smoke, e no dey hide". This is the surest way for couples to get to know each other and to know if they can live with each other.

That's not always true, some men will only become abusive when they start having financial or career problems. The the woman becomes the witch who is behind his problems and anything she does is interpreted as oh it's because he's now broke angry so it's honestly hard to know who a person really is when thing are goin well. Most people's real colors come out during adversity or when they suddenly become wealthy

Im always glad when i read comments from married people because hey can rrelate better with most of my articles.

Many of us here are also married but if course you are not happy to hear from us since we don't agree with you. No one is saying some women aren't trouble makers, out point is your article is all about blaming the victim. Both parties in a marriage will provoke each other from time to time so everyone must learn to control their reactions and if you feel the person will lead you to do something you'll regret then it's time to leave. The same way some men will keep cheating till the wife snaps and kills him, does that ever make it right? Your Thread should have been balanced but you are onpbviously prejudiced. When s woman kills her husband will you write a thread about how men are responsible for their wives killing them

Well, I said what I know based on experience. I hardly see rich men pummeling their wives. Its more rampant in poor homes n most of it boils down 2 lack of money n frustration.

I'm not saying d rich dnt do it at all. After all, chris brown use rihanna face as punching bag

It's true poor men are usually frustrated, angry and insecure. A rich man will just divorce and move on . It's dangerous to marry a poor, frustrated man

U don't get do u? Domestic violence goes both ways. Just because a man is stronger doesn't mean he should take all manners of abuse.. What i'm saying is, as long as a woman doesn't get physical with me then i would never react physically.. I have been in a situation where i was being held hostage, i tried walking away but i was roughly pulled back, the door was locked on me & i had no where to go.. Women scare me

I'm talking about those saying if a woman abuses them they will beat her. Even when some holds you man or woman, just do enough to get yourself out of their grip and just enough to defend yourself. If you go over board and the person dies in you, sorry is your name grin
