Sylvie,

1. Congrats, at least you made some headway, at least now you know it is not impossible.
2. Please, if you no mind, try edit your post, remove the vulgarity, it is not necessary to communicate your frustration, we can still understand.
3. Mbc persia? I dey jealous!!!
4.When you say you made a hole, where exactly? if you can take a picture of it so we can see. there is no need to spoil the surface of your dish to allow rain water flow off, but maybe if you post a picture, we can be able to help out. but you could also put a tape or something over the hole and seee if that is what is reducing your signals, or maybe you still need to do some tinkering with the position of the dish.
5. I still feel you can get much better signal levels than what you are getting at the moment. after you got the 10758 TP, did you move over to BBC and readjust the dish as i suggested? you might still need to move it a bit up or down, left or right, just to see which position you can get the most out of nilesat101. remember, it is not exactly the same for AB4.

Gangsta101:

About Strong decoders being pre-patched before getting to the customer, it is indeed strange, because, it doesn't seem to be a "Full Patch" (for want of a better explanation). Because if you buy a brand new straight-out-of-the-box strong 4651X, you would be able to type in 8282 and 8280 to bring out the different key menus, and (i think), you can press 6969 on ETV (intelsat 7/10) and get it to open. but however, if you input the showtime/ART keys manually (or even via a softcam), it wouldn't open them. you would have to then patch it properly to open showtime/ART. Maybe like you said, the initial software loaded onto it (probably patched for this region), would have been too old by that time.

@ Gangsta101, Enigma

thank you all for the informative piece, i will apply new patch to one of them sometime and see,
you guys are wonderful.

@All FTA Friends,
I am back to the forum after a short 'vacation'. I have attached below my setup for four 65cm Eurostar dishes which I use at Nairobi City (Located at Latitude 1.28East, Longitude 36.82East). I have installed the dishes on the roof of my landlord 5 storey building. Not allowed to install 6ft or 8ft dishes!! As you will note, due to my location (longitude), the W4 dish is facing almost vertically. I am using a 'perfect' blind-scan receiver model "Astrovox VSR-290FTA Super". It will track any channel and feed for you! (Check: _hxxp://www.astrovox.biz).

@sylve11

Congrat, welcome to nile family. The hole you made to your dish may not likey affect the signal significantly. The likely cause are: Either u temper with ur lnbf setting while making the hole, The period ur track to get the first signal also matters. The worst period for nile is between 10am and 4pm. You should also remember that the first frequency is on 7.2 degree, while nile is on 7 degree,so after getting the first frequency you must use any other frequecy to adjust for nile. The reason why you could not get any of the art sport is because you skew your lnb to give more signal to vertical at the xpense of horizontal or the lnb is not ok for horizontal signals.

The best advice is to retrack the bird afresh.

I saw your mail, thanks, send the item to my mail

Brothers, i finally got the bird (nilesat), but there is a problem, Art sports refused to come up, and MBCs signal strength is very low 35%. I got the first frequncy which is about 70% as u people do advice me to get first. After i got that first frequency, the MBC were all 53-55%. So i decided to put a tiny hole so water can rush down, it look as if the hole's the whole barrier, cause after i punch the hole, i checked my signal strength and found out that the MBCs and some other channels turned 35%, apart from the first which is about 70% then turned 50%. I spent 8 hours tracking the naughty bird.I used strong LNB to do the tracking at the first place and nothing came up, i also used the same strong LNB to track NSS7 and i got 94%. well to cut long story short, when i replaced it with the FUJI LNB, the whole story changed, the same way i skewed the strong LNB that was unable to give me signal, i skewed the FUJI same way and i begin to recieved the signals. What do i do now to make the signal strength high? No ART channels and the MBCs are low, the reast i can't even comment on ( poor ) signal strength,  and also i only the V psitions, no H position at all. Please, brothers help me so i can received the rest and also make my signal strength high

You guys are real great masters, i will always live to remember you for your kindness.

Note: Igot the MBCs complete packages including the new MBC persia and MBC max.

@ the Highlighted.
1) When you wrote that you punched a hole, how big is the hole? If the hole is too big, you may lose signal.

2) What tool did you use to make the hole? Was it with a drill, a harmer and nail or by some crude tools and methods? If you used a drill, at leat the resulting hole would not warp the dish, but if you used Harmer and nail or some crude method, your dish maybe warpped. sad

@Sathob
To know EIRP of any satellite beam, at Lyngsat.com, simply click on the beam icon and it will open a page showing you the footprint of the bird.  EIRP is normally measured in Decibel Watts (dBW). You would see the exponential difference according to the strength and concentration of the beam given in terms of dBW against dish size. Ranges differ for each beam. so just check the average difference for the footprint area and use that to ccalculate for your area. (try do small Math and "guestimate" your size of dish). Watch the map you see there closely.ovices

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by pitodenz(m): 6:15pm On Oct 29, 2008
@ sylve11 take my advice and leave ur dish the way it is now.the effect of the punch might shake the dish position a little bit and the nilesat signal might ve dropped at the same moment.let me give example, when butoneday's 3.0m nilesat dish was installed in warri, the guy got bbc and when trying to improve the signal he lost it completely he tried till the next day to no luck, but when i came to work on his motorized dish, without even going near the nilesat dish, on doing normal scaning the bbc and other transpondent came up.so my guy wait till night to confirm ur signal level also wheather is not helping matter in southern naija presently resulting in low signal.happy viewing.but my guy if what u send to badaru is about free browsing dont hesistate to forward it to pitodenz@yahoo.com.@ all pvr function on srt 4663x via usb,u can record, fast, rewind and playback live programs, the receiver is original from strong-technologies even if it not in their site now and alaba guys re yet to pirate.

Olason, it is perfectly fine to post feed frequencies/details; it is not illegal to watch them or to give the frequencies especially when the feed is unencrypted. I think F_Marshal was just concerned that the providers may switch to another feed frequency if they notice that hobbyists like us are aware of the first frequency; it is not really a big concern though and there are many sites dedicated to feed hunting which post details of feeds found. One of the leading feed information site is of course www.satelliweb.com

PS

Nilesat signal can be very funny at times,if you get all the signal now,if you change your dish settings for better reception i bet it with you ,you are likely miss some of your favourite channels while new channels can also come up.so its a funny thing. My Euronews signal do flunctuate ,sometimes it showup some time it goes into hibernation. Can you see its a funny network .Presently my fox movies channel is not coming up until 5.30 pm

@ olason,
its so good to see that you've started posting on your own, so that means i wont be passing out 2nd class information to people here again, your information now will be direct from you. Thats good. try to send me those feeds frequencies.

@ w3a viewers,
i got another MSNBC AFRICA when i did a blindscan yesterday, it was on the same freq with the other one which is 12728H, 300000, it has all the same information the only difference with the former was that it was only the APID that was different.

@ justx24/toxnaija/ojofree
how all una dey? Its quite a while we've read you posts

@ olofofo,
i will like you to take the picture of yur 1.8m dish holder, i think i love it when i saw it at your place during my visit then, i've already started my preparation for the motorise already, what i just need now is badaru's visitation to my place to tell me the best point the pole should be mounted to receive both from east and west.

@ badaru1,
When do you think you will be chanced to make that vist, let me know.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 4:29am On Oct 30, 2008
@ ceejays,
thats one of the shortcoming of strongs 4652, there's no option for blindscan on the decoder, the best you can do is try to get the list of freq for feeds from those that have them and try to key it manually into your decoder, thats the best way you can go about it or better still go get 4653X or 4663X

@ all,
I personally think we need to be posting latest prices of satellite accessories ranging from dish of various sizes, LNBs, Decoders e.t.c

To those that can be of help, i will need the latest price for
a 1.8m dish, Fuji LNB (ku), C-band, Jack and positioner. Your help will be appreciated.

I even got to learn from olofofo that a 1.8m PAN dish cost about N7,500 at ALABA market.

@ olofofo,
if you have any contact at ALABA market, can you kindly send across to me the details of that dealer. Thanks

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by obnelly: 6:44pm On Oct 30, 2008
Gangstar101,based on your mbc persian,i think if i can get it here any other person should be able to get it as well. All you need to do is reset your dish and skew your LNB gently.Do that and check the signal level ,i bet it with you the mbc persian will come up.i lost foxmovies signal yesterday i guess somebody get contacted with the dish and when i came back from work i saw some channels still showing while all horizontal channels fail to come up.I did little skewing and adjusted my dish higher a little bit Bang foxmovies jump to 58% while others goes for up to 66-68% but i lost mbc persia in the process so i guess i must have over skewed the lnb.so i guess you too can get that persian signal. Now i want to see if one can get showtime sports with 2.4m. its all about skewing.Though nothing special on mbc persian ,i still love my fox movies.

sylve11,
please send the software and guide to my mailbox toxnaija@gmail.com.

all,
I miss everybody.I am sure some of you know why I was absent.I am really happy that Nilesat is now the baby of the house.I remember it was just badaru,mide2008,baba egun, graciousme, myself, and a few others some months back.I pray the keys would come back soon and you would experience the real magic of satellite.Nilesat is very funny,so don't lose hope if you can't pick some stations now. They could pop up when you don't expect them. But I pick all the signals reaching Nigeria without any major problem with my 3m fibre and fuji lnbf.I doubt it if Obnelly can pick Showtime sports with 2.4m dish in Sagamu,Ogun state.3m dish in Ogun State picks it at 48% between 2pm and 7pm,50/52% between 7pm and 10am that is when the weak CNN,VH1 signal arrives, reaching 46/48%.But for the past 6 weeks,my Showtime sports and that of Mide2008(3.6m mesh dish) has been staying 24hrs though with no keys.
Please endeavour to tune to eutelsat w3a and blindscan at the weekend or anytime there is a major sporting event such as premiership,la liga, serie a,etc.I have discovered that pay tv providers like Supersport always use the bird for their feeds coming into Africa. This is an assignment for us all. Please turn in your findings by Monday.if Badaru could discover Supersport Italian league feed, then let us all look for the other feeds, even HITV.I am pretty sure they are in the free air.I wish I had witchcraft to trap the frequencies.

badaru1/Olason,
please text the feed frequencies to my phone by Friday.kudos for the efforts.I don't think it is illegal to post frequencies. The only snag is that the moment they discover we are seeing their feeds, they change it some months later. So post whatever you have on this thread. It is really difficult for operators to change frequencies and coding system. They hate us for being a thorn in their flesh, but they can afford to ignore us because a lot of people would still have to pay for the free things we view.So if you have Hitv feeds, please send them to me.I dey fear them.them fit kill u for having their secret.I miss you all.I have Unleash the 80s radio podcast sent to me from London by the oldies presenter CBM.Watch him on SilverbirdTV,Lagos Wednesday night 11pm.If you love oldies, then share this with me by downloading great music on these links, active in the next 15 days-

sathob,
I couldnt get the Metro TV football feed due to the incomplete info you sent.please try and get the symbol rate on your receiver.Thanks.

Nash-fta,
should I call you a genius or weirdo?Great job that was!

Enigma,
I am sorry that I would have to delay till June.I have some important things to do here.I will mail you soon.Regards.
