Re: Top Nigerian Makeup Artists by fyngirlosa: 7:18am On Nov 14, 2008
shawnobi, i am with you. i just got married on october 25th in benin and RM looks did my makeup for the trad and white wedding plus my train of 5 ladies and for just 50,000.she's based in Lagos and she really pays attention to some little details in makeup.if u ask me, she's not expensive, considering the fact that she had to come all the way to benin for me. for ado-ekiti she might take less than that amount sha.i would soon upload my pix on facebook cos my husband also loves her job.

hi every1,i came accross naira land a few months back searching for a makeup artist for my wedding, I arrived in lagos to meet with the 4 artist that was recommended, I Called banke meshida to schedule an appointment she was extremely rude over the phone shocked, checked out a few others too, one in particular did a bad job boyoun faces' or sump like that on my friends wedding SO I DIDNT BOTHER, MY FRIEND looked horrible, tried tara but one of her girls mentioned she wont come down herself, she always sends someone else, Is this what makeup artist in naija do now shocked, i think its stupid. Finally i tried blissfull makeovers and lise makeup studio, Eventually i had bad experienceS with all except one , Lise makeup, She consulted with me herself and was very professional too, did my makeup herself and her girls did my train, i looked stunning says everYone for what she charged it was worth more, i dont live in naija but it seems pple can send the wrong message about these makeup artist TO PPLE ABROAD, all because of popularity , some r good, some multi talented, some into it just for the cash and some are just fakes. She did my chief brides maids for free and my flower girls and i still got some makeup products from her free on my wedding day, Shes nice and down to earth and i hope others can try her to know it,her names Eni BALOGUN, You can checkout the bridal pics on her site ,mines is there too smiley, www.lisebeautyrange.com

adefaces hi.i'm extremely sorry bout d experience u got down here(especially wit Tara) but i would like 2 explain something here if u don't mind.can i draw u back to the old times(days of d bible!!!)Moses happened 2 do it all by himself at a particular point in time during d journey to the promised land den GOD instructed him 2 use d process we're all familiar wit; d division of labor, u know d rest of d story.my point- Tara can't do it all by herself therefore she's training others, empowering others, giving out her knowledge 2 others 2 benefit from.i think we shld appreciate her efforts instead of "dropping" her. she's still d very best.believe dat mi sis.

@fyngirlosa and shawnobi

My wedding is coming up in two weeks time in kogi state and I have contacted RM looks for the make up. I hope she does a good job just like you have proclaimed; although she is charging me 50k for 2 days- no bridesmaids. What do you think?
Re: Top Nigerian Makeup Artists by fyngirlosa: 4:05pm On Dec 10, 2008
@tng.Hi, u did good calling her and believe me am not just praising her, she's good with makeup. For 50,000, i think she's affordable.Considering the fact that you are in the northern part of nigeria and its for 2days.Anyways it all depends on what you want but i think you should try her, if she's available.
Re: Top Nigerian Makeup Artists by shawnobi: 5:27pm On Dec 10, 2008
Hi tng, congrats in advance.i was also skeptical when someone referred her to me but having tried her i'ld say she's very affordable and good.If you can, just try her.It pays to look good always especially on your wedding day. cool

Re: Top Nigerian Makeup Artists by obiromma: 9:48am On Dec 12, 2008
sorry,i meant to say "if you are handling accomodation for RM Looks".Tanx.
Re: Top Nigerian Makeup Artists by tng(f): 3:32pm On Dec 12, 2008
Hi Obiromna,

She told me that they usually accommodate themselves. Dont know if it would be different for you. She also charged me for the bridesmaids seperately so I think the price is inclusive of accommodation.
Take care and have a great day

@ do-me
does tara pay u for the noise?

there are a lot of great make up artists in nigeria that are yet to be discovered,
i guess all these names everyone's mentioning are ones that have access to money to push their products and services.
Unveil needs to go back to a makeup skool if she ever attended one,
Tara should do something about her cheap product packaging,
and banke should stick to selling BM PRO only!

kudos to Tinuke who made up my friend last weekend for her wedding, good work!

The Nigerian make up industry is made up of many professionals and it's only going to keep getting better.

There is really no basis of comparison as all of them have brought the industry to the enviable heights it is now.

However if i must choose i'd say i admire Tara for actually paving the way for others to follow. she is acknowledged as the first Nigerian make up artist. In fact many of the established and the up and coming artists cut their teeth in her school or her studio.

Her vision and foresight kick started this opportunity that has produced wealth for a lot of women today.

Here's to Women empowerment, Here's to Tara!

Dear All,

I spent 1 month in September 2008 at the House of Tara make up school in Ikeja and i must confess that i have really learnt a lot about the art of making up and my skill set has drastically improved. I had a wonderful experience throughout.

I do recommend that all intending make up artists should give it a try. They've got 2 weeks, 1 month and 2 month intensive courses and their facilitators do know their onions. You can visit the website - www.houseoftara.com or come 22A Omotayo Ojo Street, Off Allen Avenue By Oshopey Bus stop, Ikeja or 9A Oko-Awo Close Victoria Island or call 080 2292 2921, 01-461 6654.

I also just learnt that the House of Tara has opened up shop in Abuja at Shop 25-28 Banex Vom, Alexandra Street, Beside FRSC Building, Off Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Wuse Zone 2 Abuja. The make up school's not set up yet but it seems that very soon it will be up and running.

Now people in the Northern part of Nigeria do not need to travel far for their training.
Re: Top Nigerian Makeup Artists by Soulchick: 12:48am On Feb 13, 2009
I personally like make up done by artists from House of Tara. It is always fresh and natural. My friend recently used then for her wedding in December and she looked breathtaking. She originally wanted Tara herself but was told she would be unable to do it due to time constraints and it was more expensive. At first I was like why? but then I realise that she is the MD/CEO of the company. She must be extraordinarily busy. i don't think its because she thinks sehs better. I just think she has a lot on her plate. The other artists they have however are very good.

I think deifnitely they are the best inthe business. Hands down. They have a trainign school, a product line and also provide amke up services. No other personc an say they have all of thet

Re: Top Nigerian Makeup Artists by hegeregor: 4:44pm On Feb 16, 2009
Just wanted to give a few more praises to TARA. I've recently received a few more samples from them.
They have some wonderful luminescent eye shadow and lipstick. A great variety, and they all go on in a
very silky smooth way. I've noticed that it is quite important to have the proper tools for mineral makeup.

I am looking forward to ordering more samples, and eventually the full sized products. So far, I have not been
disappointed with their color variety and color quality. Gave me just what I was looking for, even if there was
a "learning curve" attached.

I will be posting at least one more time in the next few days, though I have a funeral out of town to
attend and a wedding this weekend.

Also the growth rate has been outstanding; from Lagos(V/I)- Lagos (Ikeja) - P/H- Ibadan- Abuja all just in 2 years!!!
, wow, HOUSE OF TARA INT'L's certainly the B.O.M.B!!!! no comparisons.

Helen,
London.
