Didnt know Geologists existed. haha.j/k
I dont see any reason why he shouldnt go into nursing
@ JK,How will you know Geologists exists when you are ignorant that they are the authorised explorer of the earth crust? I don't have any business with you,I am only advising herself who will soon become a professional geologist. I am pretty sure you haven't taken your time to read her recent posts about how hard it is to get into the Nursing program as an intl student, else you won't just open your mouth and talk. You don't see any reason why she shouldnt go for nursing right ? Then get her admission and I-20 into the nursing programme and we will know you mean business. Instead of you to profer a solution and advise on what to do or how she could get admission, you chose to just say what you like.Anyway,i don't have your time. Fall applicants, what is the latest with admissions,I-20's etc ?

@herself, waiting till master is not a bad idea. You even stand a better chance of getting assisstanship as a master student than as an undergraduate student. From the tone of your message, I can see that u are a little bit confused about which program to go for. Perhaps, u want to go into nursing because u will easily get a job and a your green card. That is not a bad idea anyway, but as Ojap as CORRECTLY AND PROFESSIONALLY advised, u have so little chance of getting admitted into nursing as an international student. I was straightly told by the admission officer of my school that they consider their student first for the health programs, then if there is still available space they will give it to international students. Not to discourage u anyway, most of their children here don't go to school. They have security fund to keep them moving, so they really don't need education to survive unlike us in naija.
On the Geology career, just to let u know that because of the global warming, the world is now paying attention to environmentalists. In the next few years, environmentalists are going to be sorted for like the computer gurus are searched for everywhere. UN signed 30 billion dollars into tackling environmental problem due global warming last year. Guess, who will have direct access to the fund - environmentalists. The joy now is that there are limited environmentalists in the world. So, u will stand at a very greater advantage, if u have your degree now before a lot of people start going to study Environmental related courses in the universities, and we now have more than enough qualified graduates in that field.

We seem not to be getting responses from those who have gone for their interviews, we need to hear from those who have been issued their visas and those denied.Whats happening?.

23, 25k is a good amount. Check their policies for international students. Do you qualify for instate tuition after a while? Are there scholarships you can take advantage of? How about internships and on-campus jobs? Texas and California are your best bets for Geology. Just make sure the schools you apply to don't have a lot of restrictions on international students. Make calls to clarify on issues and email their international office with all your inquiries. It will pay off in the long run. You're good to go!

i have been missing out though i am new in the race.lots of information here.I'll be seeking for clarification from time to time.for now please may i know who the sponsorship letter that will be taken to the embassy for interview should be addressed to(the school or the embassy?)
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by layric: 1:30pm On Mar 09, 2011
@ mamima ,the letter will be address to the consular.if its Abuja it has to be Abuja address and if its Lagos it has to be Lagos consular.
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by anfanio: 1:48pm On Mar 09, 2011
mamima,
Address to 'to whom it may concern'.

savemysoul,
You are looking at nothing less than $12000 as an international student. Are you planning undergraduate or graduate studies, major, living on campus or off campus?
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by benom(m): 6:45pm On Mar 09, 2011
@mamima,
The letter is addressed to the consular or consulate general depending on where you are applying to.
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by benom(m): 7:06pm On Mar 09, 2011
@Savemysoul, there are no cheap universities in Maryland. You should be looking at Missouri. There are very good but also very affordable schools in Missouri.
