@all,
Here is the pix for stargold fuji prime focus 4-way lnb, replacement for my normal single way fuji I installed last weekend. For all those on 2.4m and above using pan or fibre dishes, you can't go wrong with stargold!

Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by GeorgeD1(m): 10:12am On Jul 09, 2010
From preliminary observation, this lnb seems to perform even better
than normal fuji under rainy weather.

All thanks to Dejsam.

if you can hear the sound and no video that means you will need an mpeg 4 decoder to watch those channels.

@Goerge_D

These channels on EUTELSAT W4/7 (NTV-Kenya, KBC Channel 1, K24, KTN-Kenya, TPA 1, TPA 2) are in transmitted in DVB-S2 format while you SRT4663x can only decode DVB-S format.  To receive these channels you have to purchase SRT4669X Receiver.

@ All
The ABU DHABI MEDIA COMPANY now has the rights to the English Premier League for the next three consecutive seasons 2010/11, 2011/12, and 2013/14.
All the sports bars and footy fans throughout Europe who enjoyed the superb EPL coverage through Showtime for the last 3 years will need to switch over to the Abu Dhabi Sports Package to enjoy similar superb coverage for the next 3 years.This means there will be a huge demand for these subscriptions. The new package is not due to be released until mid-july. This gives us less than four weeks to get the viewing cards out in time for the start of the premiership football season.
The ADMC Sports package consists of 10 HD channels and is due to be officially released in mid-July.
The channels are, Abu Dhabi HD Sports 1 - 6, Sky News HD, Fox Movies HD, Fox Series HD, and National Geographic Abu Dhabi HD.
In an attempt to prevent piracy ADMC have teamed up with Humax and are using a Humax HD Receiver with an embedded 12 month subscription.Individual Abu Dhabi viewing cards will also be available.But at the momeNt it is only clear that the sports channels will be in hd only so will require a compatible hd receiver to view these channels we will be testing many receivers to find out which will be the best.

@Flodel,
Sorry for not responding to your distress earlier than I should but I guess segunfms and microgiant have already done justice to that.

@Adeexy,
Looks like HD recievers are going to be the way forward for season 5.

BTW, now that ABU DHABI MEDIA COMPANY have secured the premiership rights, I wonder if they're going to encrypt fox movies, fox series, etc,

I want to believe that your freesat decoder would work on FTA here in naija. For card reading, only if it has not been programmed to certain conditions over there.
Notwithstanding, how sweet it would be for fta here depends on the features it has. This I believe you should have given us some info like the complete make and model of the decoder. I mean FREESAT what what what. Weather it is HD, Mpeg 4, SD, has rf output or not. Look around the decoder, you will surely gather more info about the decoder. This would enable members to know exactly what you have and tell you of any likely limitation.
Enjoy.

spaceman,
May God bless you. The following are the specs as shown on the box:

Over 140 digital channels
Free HD TV programmes*
UK-wide reception
No subscription, no monthly bills
Parental control
DVB-S2 Tuner
Access all freesat Digital 00Channels and Radio Stations
7-Day On-Screen Guide
Interactive TV
Digital Text

My difficulty now is that i cannot access the main menu for me to manually scan my preferred satellites. Anytime I switch it on it quickly starts automatic scanning of the factory installed programmes. I hope you could help me out.

tracking Hotbird is a little bit easier than nilesat.The signal is ok on 2.4m.The only problem is that most of the channels are encrypted.Thid afternoon i tried to post my signal quality observed around 3pm on majorly sports channels .The results are as follows:
NOVA 3 58%,NOVA 4-6 AND HIGHLIGHT 48%,SKY SPORT1 AND 2,SKY UNO+1,SKY CALCIO3-7 ,SUPER ACTIVE1-3 58%,ALJAZEERA SPORT 1-10 52% RAI UNO,RAI SPORT1 AND 2,RAI HD 52% canal + sport 58% ESPN 56%,ORANGE SPORT 58% and so much more entertainments channels like film box with good signal.

The above signal is the least you can get in the afternoon ,at night you gain signal quality of 4% while in the morning you may likely loss 2-4%.
if you have a better receiver to do the miracles the sky is not your limit.

George D,how are we going to track this Badr 6 in the western province.The thing is not popping up at all.

You should state the Make/Model of your freesat receiver; there are different makes e.g. Humax/Bush/Grundig etc; the Bush and Grundig are the same; the Humax is different and of two types i.e. HD and HDR.

Leaving all that aside, your problem is this: freesat receivers are programmed to look for the freesat default transponder on 28e in order for them to work properly. Your freesat receiver can only work in West Africa (a) if you have a massive massive massive dish that can receive the freesat default transponder; OR (b) it has been first used in the UK (i) to load the freesat channels AND (ii) to activate non-freesat mode.

Practical from here: You can only possibly make your freesat receiver work in non-freesat mode; to do that ----- when you turn it on and it starts searching for freesat, stop it and try going into the Menu; if you can get into the Menu, search for "Add Non-freesat Channels" or "Non-freesat" mode. If you can't get into the menu, it means that non-freesat mode has not been activated and you will need to send the receiver back to the UK (or somewhere that can receive the 'UK' beam of 28e) to activate the non-freesat mode after downloading freesat channels.

All,

Has anyone received a sirus signal from the west before, see the pics below, HI & DIST facing east, but sirus was received in that direction,

Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by microgiant: 9:10am On Jul 13, 2010
@solo1ng1

It's possible. Haven't you heard of Toroidal dish? facing one direction and receiving from both directions. The Sirius dish is creating a Toroidal effect on the HiTv dish due to the closeness.

Read more about the Toroidal Dish here http://www.digicams-uk.com/prod275.htm

Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by spaceman(m): 9:21am On Jul 13, 2010
@ solo1ng
The way I understand it
I have never received a Sirius signal from the west, and according to the orientation of the dish, I am very sure it is the Sirius @ 4.5 E.
Normally, I track Sirius 4 exactly opposite the direction of the dish in your picture, going by the direction of other dishes as shown. Now going by the law of angle of incidence = that of reflection of wave, this dish is receiving from Sirius 4, backing the satellite, but with the elevation raised a bit to fulfill the law. That is why you see the offset dish almost facing the sky. In my own case, facing the satellite, the elevation will be lesser.
If you understand that even the Hi dish in your picture could be turned upside-down, and still get your signal but with the elevation not being as it is, you will understand me well.
Take time out and check the direction of this dish, relate it another facing Sirius 4 normally, compare their directions and elevation. You will see the light cool
Enjoy

It is common knowledge that the European and Middle East Sats are the most porous. most people over there work only seven hours a day, plus no weekend work, so they have enough time to play with FTA grin

you can ask the gurus badaru, olofofo et al, for direction cool
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by solo1ng1: 12:11pm On Jul 13, 2010
Hmmm…this is getting interesting and may be leading to another phase of FTA research especially for 90cm FTA enthusiasm….

@Micogiant,
I get your point…but the issue here is that, this dish is not a Toroidal dish, but 1m daarsat dish…the installation was down together with Twinskenny…and we even had some argument on it…he twisted the dish and got Sirus…I said no, how could u get sirus from that direction, using the pole up there as a point of reference, I tracked…and still got Sirus from west…very funny and you know what…we are even trying to nail W3A…but because the naughty sat refuse to come up…we now try Sirus as a point of reference…to now get W3A from that position now na wahala…it seems to be impossible.

@Olofofo,
I suppose don call u to clarify, but I want to share it in the house…what’s your view on this? And how do u thing we can track W3a from this direction?

@George, Badaru, Enitan, Enigma,etc
Any addition to this puzzled sat signal from west?
