Leviticus 26:29
You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.

Deuteronomy 28:53
Because of the suffering that your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the LORD your God has given you.

Deuteronomy 28:56-57
The most gentle and sensitive woman among you?so sensitive and gentle that she would not venture to touch the ground with the sole of her foot?will begrudge the husband she loves and her own son or daughter the afterbirth from her womb and the children she bears. For she intends to eat them secretly during the siege and in the distress that your enemy will inflict on you in your cities.

2 Kings 6:29
So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, 'Give up your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden him."

Jeremiah 19:9
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh during the stress of the siege imposed on them by the enemies who seek their lives.'

Lamentations 2:20
"Look, O LORD, and consider: Whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have cared for? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

Lamentations 4:10
With their own hands compassionate women have cooked their own children, who became their food when my people were destroyed.

Ezekiel 5:10
Therefore in your midst fathers will eat their children, and children will eat their fathers. I will inflict punishment on you and will scatter all your survivors to the winds.

and ofcourse we know that up to this day Christians themselves still practice symbolic cannibalism by eating Jesus' body (communion) and driniking his blood!!!

Eph 4:17-18  Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.
They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.

You will not see anywhere in the Bible where God ordered or commanded humans to eat other humans. This is a clear "misunderstanding" on your part or you reading something into the text that is not there. The verses of scripture that you cite (except for the one in 2 Kings) was a prophecy God pronounced over Israel. When the first covenant was established God said it was to be a blessing and a curse. A blessing if they obeyed the ordinances of God and a curse if they didn't (read from the begining of Deut). So all sorts of evils were to befall Israel if they neglected to do the commandments of God. God was therefore saying to them that if they did not obey His ordinances then such evil will befall them that they would even eat their off springs for food. How does this translate to a commandment by God for them to eat human flesh?

Have you seen the film "Alive". It is based on a true story in which a plane crashed in the Andes and the survivors were forced to eat the flesh of their dead comrade in order to stay alive. We should pray we may never fall into such a similar situation.

to cut the story short, the bible god made people practice cannibalism, right?

Jeremiah 19:9
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh during the stress of the siege imposed on them by the enemies who seek their lives.
Re: Cannibalism In The Bible! by Hutchie(m): 2:57pm On Jan 12, 2012
It was not a commandment it was a judgement that was pronounced upon them if they did not obey the ordinances of God. This was only one of the judgements - other judgements included that they would worship sticks and stones (animism as in parts of Africa?); they were to be scattered into all nations; the strangers among them were to rise above them and they would be the tail and not the head etc. For you to take a verse out of context to say God commanded cannibalism is misleading - neither was cannibalism a practice in scripture.

my dear friend, may be you need to firstly read again the verses.they are many.what does it mean when God tell his people that they will eat the flesh of their sons and daughters? and worse that according to you is a judgement on them passed by God.so God punishes people with cannibalism.in other words, you are saying when one disobeys God as the israelites did back then,God could make them eat the flesh of their children.that is what is found in your bible.and whether God is making it a law that people should continuosly do it or whether he is only doing it once, cannibalism is practiced in the bible.for whatever reason is not the issue.cannibalism is cannibalism.may be you should get a dictionary and know that eating human flesh regardless of the reason is what is referred to as cannibalism.period.

Re: Cannibalism In The Bible! by Horus(m): 1:43pm On Jan 13, 2012
The word “cannibalism” according to the American Heritage Dictionary is defined as “eating the flesh of other human beings.” According to your Bible in John 6:54-57, 2 Kings 6:28-29, and Ezekiel 39:17, God is telling people to eat flesh and drink blood. So yes cannibalism and vampirisism is encouraged in your Bible.

thank God someone with a dictionary finally admits to what cannibalism is.

is it a crime to read the "inspired word of God"?

na wa O!!!

it is not my fault that cannibalism is also "inspired" in the bible.or is it?
Re: Cannibalism In The Bible! by goggs(m): 11:03pm On Jan 24, 2012
The Bible contains Historical accounts across millenia culminating to the gift of salvation through Christ.

So reading the Bible verses in isolation is not gonna take you anywhere.

Thats how the Bible works. It gives you the entire story from beginning to end. Historical facts are recorded and show God's intervention in the activities of man through the ages.

An example from
2 Kings 6:29
So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, 'Give up your son so we may eat him,' but she had hidden him."

here is part of the story that will make better sense than the one above:

24And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.

25And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an Bottom's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.

26And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.

27And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?

28And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

29So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son
.

30And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.

31Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.
(So instead of addressing the main issues that caused the famine, he sought to destroy the Prophet who had predicted the situation)

This story is clear, it records a great famine as a result of a siege to the extent that people resorted to cannibalism to survive. The King was made aware of this situation and he was so saddened he tore his clothes, wore sack clothes to show grief and swore to make someone accountable. Now SERIOUSLY, doesn't this makes sense (unless the person in question is soooo dumb or being mischievous)

Scripture, as a history, recalls some very bloody deeds, yes. But If you follow the story, you will see how God intervened.

The Bible is not just accounts but how men related with each other and God and the historical accuracy of the Bible is acclaimed.

So picking that verse in isolation is to deliberately distort the message and that is a very poor and commonly  used tactic of those who seek to discredit the Bible, especially the Old testament.

For the average reader, its easy to google such isolated verse and read up the entire chapter to gain a better insight into the situation.

So pointing out with GLEE that Cannibalism is in the Bible as if its the find of the century and quoting verses in isolation is the work of a very lazy mind. There are violent scenes recorded in the Bible that gives an overall picture of man's relationship with God and how it has been progressed and modified through the ages.

Its (Bible) sense of history is unparalleled

stop telling us stories and more stories.the point is did the bible god made people eat people? and does the bible have stories of human eating human or not?yes or not?

what made them to or whatever has no significance in committing such an act.

Your IQ is extremely low. Go back and read my post. This time C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y. You are asking questions already answered. YOU MUST BE REALLY DULL grin

what made them to or whatever has no significance in committing such an act.

Really? the Bible is not like the Quran where things happen without rhyme or reason. Characters appear and disappear, disjointed accounts etc.

The Bible is an account of Man's relationship with God. Its a complete story, an account. Read the Bible to comprehend your questions so you don't goof

my dear dont waste your time.i have no time for long empty arguments which you particularly you thrive on.all i can tell you is "let the bible speak for itself".let the verses talk.we can read.you dont have to spoon-feed us your stories.the verses are explicitly enough and no one here is trying to play, mistranslate or misinterprete anything.

if you are in shock, try buddhism.you could have a better chance at salvation than what you are placing your high hopes on. grin grin grin

plappville, you should know LagosShia by now
He'll either tell you that those who did it aren't proper muslims (as he as done for almost every muslim in the world) or say that you are going off topic. or worse call you names. the guy's just incorrigible undecided

LagosShia:

the mistress of paris,"plappville" is desperate and frustrated to go about on the net and bring for us random pictures for our consumption.very obvious that when the christian cannot defend the indefensible and the senselessness he believes in,he turns to desperate measures and character assasination to tarnish the reputation of others and paint them evil.and even if all people are evil and bad, that does not make christianity's pagan doctrines right and it does not make christians better.

actually the pictures are ridiculous because i never knew that there is a punishment in islam called "burnt for dating" according to "plappville".lol.may be that punishment is from Jesus who said we should pluck out our eyes if it causes us to sin.so just may be that girl's beauty was removed in line with the order of Jesus.and indeed whose fault that christians do not follow the instruction of the man they claim to follow?they sin all the time and do all sort of vicious acts.

Matthew 5:29-30
29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

on another note,Islam is not responsible for all the actions of all muslims.islam stands for righteousness and justice.muslims do not necessarily reflect the teachings of islam.they are fallible men who can err and even go astray like becoming "christian"!!!so for a christian to blame a religion which is a set of ideas shows desperation.and the funny part is that amputation and mutilation was supported by his "lord and saviour",Jesus!!!
