Guys I want us all to know dat we are too enlightened for this govt to mess with us. For Christ sake we are graduates and we have kept quiet for long on dis paltry stipend. My candid advice is dat we bombard d Presidential media chat tonight with our tweets and demand for 3 months payment plus our training allowances. For those of us that are just observing the chat group, u all have to join d fight in tweeting. Enough of sitting on fence and watching! We to unite as graduates that have been taken for granted and demand for what is ours. Now I don't care if they pay d October stipend today but we must not relent on tweeting till our outstanding stipends and allowances are paid. follow me @ PaulOkayim

We should not only Retweet but also tweet. If we can tweet at least 20 per person a day, I believe in no distant time we will trend.

In this country I have come to understand that if you need something from the govt, you have to go to the extreme. What I am saying is dat we should organize a peaceful protest across the 36 States and march to our various govt houses demanding payment of our stipends. This is another way that we can let govt know our plights.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: FG: SURE-P Graduate Internship Scheme by Nigeriaisblessed: 2:54pm On Dec 22, 2015
I thought PMB was on watsapp na so I was about dropping by number here too. Fact is only twitter can help us out now. We are more than 1000 in this scheme. If we can all agree to tweet tonight at least 10 tweets per Intern and retweet, I assure us that we will trend and people will begin to ask questions that will prompt GIS to talk by force.
If you agree with me on this, let's start by 8pm tonight

Nigeriaisblessed...I'm highly disappointed in u, nd I don't expect such frm so called a graduate like replying to someone's msg in such horrible manner of urs.
3 different interns reportedly told me what happened some minutes ago that their timesheets now showing "0" days worked, then I checked mine too immediately; lo and behold, it's "0" day I found there.
Now u stupid mumu that called urself a graduate typing such word to reply.
If u don't know what is called a social problem, is it a must dt u respond? òdè òshì.
if ur own is accurate day worked... that doesn't mean it's d same for everyone.
let me leave ur mother alone here. once again, I'm disappointed seeing such from someone dt truly want Nigeria be blessed as slated in ur name/Id

You must be a VERY BIG foooooooooooollllllllllllllllllll

Calabar report: Good evening fellow Interns, we were so blessed to have the Director of Operations, GIS and he told us dat he can't guarantee dat d program may continue beyond 2015 but if it is captured in d 2016 budget, then we are good to go. Also d somehow good news is, we will get our Oct, Nov n Dec stipends n d training stipend too so dat in case d program terminates, they won't b any problem. He also said dat he is sure dat alert will enter before 24th of December, 2015

This is very bad especially for the personality of President Buhari. The change he promised us has become a thorn in our flesh. For the first time the most transparent and credible recruitment exercise was conducted in this country. I had to resigned from my former workplace in order to take up this opportunity and forfeited my post graduate studies for the training but today, look at where the government has placed me. The truth of the matter is some people believe everyone of us that got this job came from a politician or "oga at the top". But the real truth is my Dad is a retired State civil servant and my Mum a business woman. My parents are people who have never delve into politics before and how could anybody think that it was a politician that gave me this job. In fact if you must know, right there in the camp where we went to our appointment letters, I met some of my Colleagues with First Class Certificate and many of us with Second Class Upper Division. When shall the right thing ever be done in this country?
Politics / The Unheard Cry Of Our 2000 Youths Sacked By Apc Government by Nigeriaisblessed: 10:37am On Nov 28, 2015
When the ruling APC was campaigning in the 2015 election, one of their emphasis was on providing employment for our teeming unemployed youths and they made several promises on tackling this menace.
Based on this and many other promises, Nigerians went out and voted them into power.
Nigerians are now anxiously waiting to see these promises are fulfilled while our youths cannot wait to be provided with something meaningful to do.
A nation that neglects its youths does so at its own peril and Nigeria is one of such countries where hundreds of thousands of young men and women apply for jobs that only a few hundreds are needed.
This time bomb we are sitting on came to fore two years ago during the Nigerian Immigration recruitment exercise where almost a million interested youths came out to scramble for only few hundred placements done under the most bizarre conditions which cost Nigeria the lives of over twenty of its promising youngsters.
The government of former President Goodluck Jonathan realized its mistakes and re-organized another Immigration recruitment exercise this time more humane and met all standards for recruitment, right from the shortlisting of interested candidates, up to the aptitude test, and finally the interview and offer of appointment into the Service.
This was made possible by a Presidential Committee set up by the Presidency under Former President Jonathan. By the time the exercise was over, about two thousand successful and qualified youths were offered appointment into the Nigerian Immigration Service in June 2015 and soon after started training which was to last for three months.
This was not to be as the joy and relief from unemployment was cut short by the government of President Buhari sighting investigation into alleged corrupt activities in the Nigeria Immigration Service as the reason behind the suspension of these two thousand youths.
Unknown to them, they have already been dismissed and not suspended from a job they have not even started. Why would two thousand young men and women drawn from every state and region of Nigeria be made to pay for the sins of some corrupt officers? This is totally unacceptable.
At a time we are still grappling with the problems of insurgency, armed robbery and kidnapping, the least this government can do is not to aggravate our already bad situation because these youngsters have already been trained on how to handle arms and ammunitions and classified information which only officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service are privy to have already been passed on to them as part of their training.
Also millions of tax payers’ money was spent for this exercise and this nation cannot at a time that it is battling with dwindling oil revenue afford to allow that kind of money go as a waste.
The present government of President Buhari might have its grouse with the Jonathan administration but that does not imply that everything the former government did was wrong and should be discarded.
This government must avoid making the mistake of always throwing the baby away with the bath water. We as Nigerians will not accept a situation where our two thousand youths are used as tools for, political vendetta.
They have gone on a peaceful protest twice to the National Assembly where they submitted their petition to the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Nothing till this day.
What is most baffling is the refu Article sal of the Nigerian media to champion their cause and make their case known to the public. Most of these media houses were present at the protest but none reported it.
I am appealing to all Nigerians to stand up against this injustice and call on the Federal Government not to compound our already fragile security and pitiable level of unemployment and reinstate these two thousand youths whose cries have been unheard.

Mr Seun u must understand that dis is very sensitive issue and must be treated as such. Let dis be move to the front page now. We are talking sacked 2000 employees without reasons from the Federal Government. It will be unreasonable for any sane youth to ignore this or make jest of it. Must slot-sharing be the order of the day When it comes to employment in Federal parastatals? For the very first time the Federal Government conducted the most transparent recruitment exercise and some persons are pained about it.

I want to make a suggestion that we make our voice heard using twitter and other social media for the inclusion of GIS in 2016 budget. After which we can then march to NASS in solidarity manner for GIS inclusion in the 2016 budget. I believe some if not all the Interns have benefitted from this program not just monetary basis but skills-wise.
