President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in France where he will be participating in the first edition of the Paris Peace Forum, taking place between November 11 and 13, 2018.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Buhari is expected to join the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres and other world leaders in discussing contributions towards global peace while underscoring the imperative of collective action.

He will also join other world leaders to commemorate the centenary anniversary of the Armistice signed on November 11, 1918, between the Allied Forces and Germany in the forest of Compiegne in France to end the First World War.

Also, the President will attend a luncheon hosted by his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, in honour of visiting heads of delegations.

Organised by the French Government and a number of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), the Forum is based on the “simple idea that international cooperation is key to tackling global challenges and ensuring durable peace.”

Before returning to Abuja, the President and his delegation will have an interactive session with the Nigerian Community in France.

Accompanying him on the trip are the Governors of Katsina, Anambra and Ekiti States Aminu Masari, Willie Obiano and Kayode Fayemi, respectively.

Others include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; the National Security Adviser, Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd); and the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar.

Victor Ogbogu, an Uber driver, has taken to twitter to call out singer Duncan Mighty who he took to the airport two weeks ago.

According to Ogbogu, Duncan on getting to the airport, promised to transfer his bill to him as he claimed he did not have cash on him.

Victor says he has since sent his account details to Duncan with texts and calls, appealing for his money but the singer is yet to pay him.

Duncan Mighty is yet to respond to his call out.

Two Nigerian men were arrested on Monday, November, 5, for fighting on the street of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

According to reports, the two Nigerian men alongside one other black man were engaged in a fight when locals called the police.

The third man managed to escape while the duo were arrested and sent to immigration department for interrogation.

Leo Da Silva has been called out for staging a video shoot with Cee C yesterday only to pass it off as a surprise birthday breakfast. It’s Cee C’s birthday today and Leo shared a romantic video where he treated Cee C to a meal at the beach.

However, observant social media users pointed out that the video wasn’t shot today on Cee C’s birthday, neither was it a surprise breakfast and they shared proof to show it was pre-planned.

First, a screenshot from an Instagram story showing Cee C yesterday wearing the same dress as seen in the video was shared.

Also, Leo was pictured yesterday meeting with Desmond Elliot in the same black turtleneck he wore on his ” birthday breakfast” date with Cee C.

The social media user who exposed the discrepancies called the former Big Brother Naija housemates out for faking a romantic video shoot prior to the birthday just to impress and pass it off as a birthday surprise.

Well, in all fairness, Leo did not state in his post that the video was shot on Cee C’s birthday even though that was the impression most people got.See the screenshots below.

A Zambian footballer was nearly mobbed after he was caught walking naked in his opponents’ dressing room just before a match.

The footballer for Chambeshi football club in Zambia was seen yesterday afternoon parading naked in the Mighty Mufulira football team’s dressing room just before the two teams were about to play against each other.

Onlookers accused him of diabolism and claimed he was trying to use black magic to ensure the downfall of his opponents.

The naked player was slapped by some witnesses but the attackers were stopped from doing further harm. The naked player was filmed and the video was shared online.

Football analysts claim that this is related to football witchcraft which has been going on in African football for years.

The player has since been taken to the police by football club fans.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has replied the All Progressives Congress (APC) over a recent meeting in Dubai involving some of its members and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

A statement by the party’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, said, “APC is panicking over our strategy meetings because it did not only fail to deliver on the promises it made in the past but is also completely bereft of ideas required to solve the problems it caused, even as it knows that it cannot drive our country in this 21st century”.

The party claimed that since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate, the Presidency and the APC have abandoned governance for a smear campaign and now fret over the strategy meetings because “they know that the outcome will dismount their incompetent, deceitful and disconnected administration.”

“APC has become so disoriented that it is now issuing statements about the venue of our meetings which does not offend any section of our laws, and for which it has now rented itself to lies and spurious allegations?” the party queried.

“If President Buhari and the APC had sat down to draw up strategies for governance, our nation would not be facing the economic, social and
security woes that have brought her to its knees in the last three and half years.”

“The PDP and our Presidential candidate will therefore not allow the APC to distract us from our partnership with Nigerians in the all-important mission to win the 2019 elections”, the statement added.

“I’m not going to resign,” minister Malusi Gigaba told the privately owned eNCA television channel, but added “I will obviously be guided” by the President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ruling African National Congress.

The country’s ombudswoman on Tuesday said the minister had lied in court while testifying last year in a case filed by a company controlled by the wealthy Oppenheimer family.

The court case hinged on whether Gigaba had approved a private terminal at Johannesburg airport for the Oppenheimer.

In an unrelated case, Gigaba, 47, last Sunday said on twitter he had been the target of extortion attempts by an opposition politician after a sex video emerged following what he described as theft by hacking.

The defiant Gigaba said he was not just simply trying to hang on to his job.

“It’s about fighting to protect my integrity and to protect my image and to ensure that I do not become a victim of devious political campaigns. I will not be trampled upon,” said the minister.



He said he would soon meet president Ramaphosa “to put my side of the story”.

Speaking to public broadcaster SABC, Gigaba added that the leaking of the video had been politically motivated.

“We (Gigaba and his wife) have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of,” he said.

“I dont have a problem…. It was intended to embarrass me, to decapacitate me politically, to humiliate me and my family publicly, to embarrass the African National Congress,” he said.

A rare bird believed to be owned by the University of Helsinki, Finland, was caught in Jigawa state, Nigeria.

The bird, known as the Western Osprey (Pandion Haliaetus), a rare creature in Nigeria, was reportedly caught on Thursday, October 25th, at Malam Madori, Jigawa State.

Those who caught the bird said a ring bearing some information was spotted on one of its legs.

It stated that it was owned by the University of Helsinki, Finland.

The bird was eventually released to fly away at the Baturiya Wetland Reserve in Jigawa.Abubakar S. Ringim, a graduate of Zoology, wrote on Facebook:Osprey Pandion halietus caught on 25/10/2018 at Malam Madori, Jigawa.

The bird came from University of Helsinki, Finland. Available records from the University revealed that the bird was ringed 106 days prior to its caught in Jigawa, and covered 5808 kilometers during it’s migration to winter in Africa, in particular, Nigeria.

The bird were celebrated and successfully released today at the Baturiya Wetland Reserve in Jigawa.

The “black box” from the Lion Air jet that plummeted into the Java Sea after taking off from Indonesia earlier this week has been recovered.

Divers’ discovery of the flight data recorder could answer questions about why the two-month-old Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane, carrying 189 people, tragically crashed. No survivors have been found.

On Monday, the aircraft crashed just minutes after taking off from Jakarta in what was described as the worst airline disaster in Indonesia since 1977, when 234 people died on a Garuda flight near Medan.

The crash renewed concerns about safety in Indonesia’s fast-growing aviation industry.

The location of the black box find was about 500 metres northwest of the coordinates where the plane lost contact and at a depth of 30 metres, said the search and rescue agency.

“We will process the data contained in this FDR as part of the investigation process to find out the cause of the crash,” said Bambang Irawan, an investigator with the National Transport Safety Commission.

“We cannot say how long it takes to process data in a black box, but of course we will try as soon as possible.”
