Tran Vu Temple is associated with the ritual and performance of sitting tug-of-war. The game is a part of a traditional festival in Ngoc Tri village, Thach Ban ward, aiming to pray for favourable weather conditions and bumper crops.

In the game, two teams sit and tug a long rattan shoot which is passed through a red ironwood pole which is fixed in the ground.

The teams take the shoot to prepare for the game.

In the RoK, tug-of-war is a cultural event held at community festivals, aiming to pray for peacefulness and show the solidarity among people. The ropes used in the RoK’s game are made from straw in different styles: single and double strings, crab, and scissors-shaped ropes.

A rattan branch is passed through an ironwood pole that was painted red.

At the exchange, a team from Tran Vu Temple, along with the RoK representatives, performed the rituals and games of tug-of-war. The RoK side introduced their game. The exchange has contributed to enhancing the mutual understanding between the two nations.

The exchange provided a lot of fun for all participants.

Tug-of-war is a popular and unique cultural activity in Asia. In December 2015, the traditional tugging rituals and games in Vietnam, along with those in Cambodia, the Philippines and the RoK, was officially listed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Over 20 people have perished in a motor boat accident that occurred in the waters of Lake Victoria in Mpatta sub-county, Mukono district, Uganda, on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima said marine police have so far rescued 40 people who were on board.

“Uganda police marine unit rescues over 40 people alive on Lake Victoria. Ten died. Rescue mission still on.” read a statement on the Twitter handle.

However some survivors said more than 22 perished in the accident.

Approximately 120 people are said to have been on the boat and some survivors said it was overloaded although the registration list had 104 names and it’s possible that some passengers may not have registered.

According to police sources, more than 70 people are still missing.

Videos showing a Taiwanese Buddhist master and other monks having drug-fuelled gay sex parties inside a temple have leaked.

Buddhist master Kai Hung, 29, who was once an aspiring figure in Taiwan’s religious world, was seen in one of the videos making very sexual statements like “do you want more”, “I love my husband” and “my husband is super amazing”.

Other videos show the monk taking drugs and having sex with different men.

According to Mirror Media, it was discovered that Kai Hung had the long-term habit of using drugs and often organised sex parties with monks and other men at the temple. The sex tape was leaked by another monk as an act of revenge.

The monk who leaked the sex tape, called Shan Zhi, was said to be Kai Hung’s jilted ex-lover who had become a monk in order to be with Kai Hung.

A photo making the rounds shows a kid staring at the photo of his father who was killed during the recent clash between police and Shi’ites.

Recall that two weeks ago, the city of Abuja recorded a number of clashes between members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria aka Shi’ites and security agents.

Many Shi’ite members were reportedly killed during the clash while the sect members in turn burnt a vehicle belonging to the FCT police command and also inflicted varying degrees of injury on some soldiers.

One of the sect members killed during the clash was Mustafa Ingawa, a father of one. He was buried yesterday, November 8th.

During Mustafa’s burial, his little son was spotted staring at the dead man’s photos which were pasted on the coffin. The photo have left many people heartbroken on social media.
