Culture / Re: Yoruba Means Yo-ori-ba And Yo Rubo. by nigeriaschoolne(f): 8:37am On Oct 24, 2019
orisa37:
Yo-Ori-Ba means Stand out of a Crowd and Bow to Contribute.
Yo Rubo means Come out to Worship.

Yo-Ori-Ba and Yo Rubo are contracted to Yoruba.

That's is the Culture and Description of people from Lagos-Kebbi-Lokoja(South of River Niger)-Yenogoa(Bayelsa)-Lagos again.

That's also Democracy Oduduwa-Way. It resonated severally in AWOLOWO. It's still doing so in Obasanjo.

So Yoruba is not Awusa word and it's not derisive.Yoruba is borne out of a people's Culture and Traditions.

By the way, why worry now about a name that you have borne for many years and I am so Centuries? After all, '"Soka lafia", Hausa greetings is the same as "Isokale alufani", Yoruba greetings.

Mo yoriba rubo fun Prof. Akintoye, Obasanjo, Ooni, Alafin, etc.

Nyamuri:
Definitely!! If you belong to a state then your destiny belongs that specific state, unless you move and leave to another state, why do you think there are political asylum and exile seekers? That's bcuz they can't change the political realities, constitution, rules and regulation governing a country or state they belong to, hence they have to leave.. this is the scenario the minority MB find themselves in

you can't change a situation if your the minority by force or coercion, you can only do it through dialogue.. MB agitators are minority in tribe and religion, hence it will be very hard for them to ever have their way..unless through mutual understanding

Tiv, Berom, junkun etc will not have a problem aligning with the south and MB agitators, bcuz they are the majority and rule their respective state, both religiously and ethnicity.. we can even use the presidential and gubernatorial election as case study, but remove kwarra, Kogi, Niger and maybe Nasarawa out of ur equation, bcuz these states are bound by religion

It will be easy for Yoruba to get kwarra, bcuz the state is ruled and cultured Yoruba, so they have everything in common, but they will never join the MB agitators bcuz they don't share anything in common

Who the Bleep is John Danfulani!!! Mtswws!! How is he relevant in the scheme of things, what influence and clout those he have? Bcuz he said Sk will join Biafra doesn't mean anything to us, referendum will be done on geographical or state-to-state basis, the likes of SK and Danfulani don't have the numbers and population to defeat hausa/fulani in kaduna state, using presidential and gubernatorial election as case study

" Nobody from another tribe can decide what people from another tribe want", its true, bcuz referendum will be done on state-to-state basis, not tribe-to-tribe.. I dare you mention one country that got their independence base on tribe?

the core north has very little influence on minority tribe like tiv, berom etc in MB bcuz these tribes are the majority in their state and rule it, hence they can wish to align with whomever they feel like, but minority tribes in kebbi, SK, gombe, bauchi, adamawa etc, don't have a say bcuz they are the minority in their respective state, so any of their agitation will be defeated and DOA

Nowenuse:

Nyamuri, can you see what your fellow abokii did?
See how he is breaking down Taraba quite well, just because he met 2 people from there. Now imagine if he had met at least 20 people of different religions and tribes who gave him their different pictures of the makeup of the state, he would be able to juxtapose everything together and come to a better point.

Don't be a foôl to ask for references backing up the ethno-religious demography of a place. The core north rejected the inclusion of ethnicity and religion in our 2006 census because they do not want to be exposed.

If you truly want to know the ethno-religious demography of a place, you can ask multiple natives of that place who are knowledgeable to help you out. In a place that is mixed with different tribes and religion, make sure you ask people from different tribes and religions, unless you may get a skewed picture, because everyone will try to glorify his own ethnic group and religion over the others.

Secondly, use google, facebook, youtube! Search for news events from that LGA, search for the name of the ethnic group and events surrounding them, check for their traditional rulers. Check for the political leaders and political contenders of elections in that place. Use the names of their traditional/political leaders to search on facebook for people who have such similar names and check their affiliations.
You can also use foreign sources like ethnologue. Although ethnologue has very outdated figures. However it will tell you the names of LGAs that tribe are found. It will also give you the alternative names.
Also, you can travel a lot.

For example, I used to think that Afo people in Nasarawa state were overwhelmingly muslims, until I was able to follow the 'Afo national union day' and I saw the huge number of christians in the crowd. And not just that alone, also, for every Afo muslim person that was mentioned and honored, there was a christian too.

Also, I used to think the Babye people of Nasarawa were mostly christians, not until I joined their facebook group and I saw huge numbers of muslims who were proud to be Babye.

Look at this video below. This is a dance from the women of Rindre (Nungu) who are the majority tribe in Wambai LGA, Nasarawa state and minority in Sanga LGA (Gwantu) of Southern Kaduna.
This is the tribe that the female deputy governor of Kaduna came from.
From their dressing, you can see that about half of them are muslims and about half are not.

Do not be foolish enough to wait for anybody to spoonfeed you with references especially when it comes to the demographic makeup of middlebelt areas or any other part of Nigeria you don't know. If you want to know, you can know.

Politics / Re: ASUU's Reasons For Kicking Against IPPIS In The University after NEC Meeting by nigeriaschoolne(f): 7:15pm On Oct 22, 2019
ibbo:
IPPIS and the Stand of ASUU: update from the emergency NEC for NEC meeting that took place on the 17th (at abuja by 9pm) and end on 18th (by 5am).

BACKGROUND ISSUES.

1. Outcome of the joint meeting between the office of the AGF, Director of IPPIS, committee of Vice Chancellors and the unions (ASUU,SSANU,NAAT and NASU) which was headed by the chairman of Committee of Pro- Chancellors, Professor Munzali Jibrin.

2. Observations, Findings and Stand of the Union.

The meeting was deadlocked because of so many fundamental issues that ASUU observed after the Director of IPPIS made his presentation on how the template will capture the peculiarities of the academics. It is noteworthy that at the meeting, it was only ASUU that stood its ground to make its position and observation known to the committee, other unions who in the first instance were with the union made a U- turn suddenly and sided with the government. The vice chancellors present also could not speak ( with the exception of the Unijos DVC who stands for the VC and luckily he is an expert in ICT) because their chairman was not available as at that time.
What the union observed after the presentation were;

1. The template was designed to phase out staff who are above 60 years of Age. This fundamentally violates the new policy where professors retire at 70.

2. The component of RENT in our consolidated salary is to be removed on those who resides in the university quarters.

3. The template did not make provisions for payment of arrears of promotion, Study leave allowance, responsibility (for a new appointee) and immediate upgrade of salary of visiting lecturers in their visiting places.
4. The template was a mere spread sheet presented (based on the observation raised by the UNIJOS DVC ) which could not capture the technical and peculiarities associated with the flexibility and mobility of academics. Several questions were asked which the director of IPPIS could not provide answers to. This further created suspicion of the whole issue.

5. The template adopts a tax payment system ( Ptax 2) which charges between 48 and 78 thousand naira ( fixed according to rank) this deny us the flexibilities associated with reduced tax burden from one state to another.

The Director of IPPIS later reminded our union that they are acting on the Directive given by the president which mandates them to enroll all FG staff before the end of October 2019. Failure to do so will deny them their salaries. The statement further created confusion because the Union observed

a. We are not employees of the Federal Government rather, we were employed by our respective councils and as such, the statement has nothing to do with university staff.

b. That the statement from Mr president contradicts the laws and acts establishing and regulating universities in nigeria. The union positioned that this infringes the institutional and financial autonomy of public universities, making Governing councils to be irrelevant and less active.

3. That the FG is trying to reverse us back into the mainstream civil service which our past leaders have fought vehemently to pull us out.

OUR PROPOSAL

1. Let the governing councils of Universities take charge of the financial affairs of the universities. Where they are found wanting, the FG can dissolve, investigate and even prosecute them.

2. Give us the chance to develop and present suitable alternative that will take care of our peculiarities while the councils will ensure it's adoption and workability.

FURTHER FINDINGS

1. The IPPIS is run by a financial consulting company. Characterized by inefficient, less experienced and very young personnel who extort ( Evidence mentioned at the NEC) vulnerable enrollees who go to abuja to sort their problems out with the agency. As much as 100 to 200 thousand were charged before service is rendered.

2. That by proper procedures, it takes a minimum of 60 days for an enrollee to be paid after all the biometrics are done. This contradicts even the short notice given by the president to the civil servants.

3. The IPPIS which is an initiative of Mrs Okonjo Iwela has its roots in the world bank political tools used to further subjugate less Developed countries. This further generate crises into the various sectors of our nation.
4. The IPPIS by its structure has 7 modules in which only one is implementable. This is characterized by gross incompetence exhibited by the staff of the IPPIS during the meeting. They seems not to be abreast with the technicalities and cumbersome nature of the template.

The chairman of the meeting professor munzali jibrin having listened to the ASUU's presentation summoned courage and told the participants that the meeting could not be concluded becouse the union has raised a very fundamental and legal issue which requires a deeper analysis and investigation. He then called off the meeting with a promise to get back to the union.

It is obvious that the AGF and the IPPIS office were not happy with the outcome and as such, devised a more sinister plan to enroll us through the back door. What they did was;

a. To demand for the personnel payroll from all the federal universities where almost all the universities complied. Some even used the opportunity to update their payroll by taking additional staff and converting some casual staff to main staff so that they will get enough manpower. This is because the template does not provide for additional staffing.

b. Send the IPPIS forms to selected universities and encouraged vice chancellors to do every thing possible to ensure compliance.

The union further observed;

1. Some universities collected the form and some members filled and returned. It further observed that majority of those who complied in filling the IPPIS forms in those universities where forms were given are those from college of Medicine.
2. Other universities collected the form and refused to distribute.

3. The rest did not receive the forms at all.

OUR OPTIONS

The union was very worried and saddened at the attitude of some of our members who became jittery and are ready to compromise the future of our universities by a mere threat of stoppage of Salary. This calls for a more reorientation of our members on the principles and ideology of the union. The emergence of a supposed break away faction of the union and the amplification of the sex for grade and all other antics are grand plan to quash the union and give a bad public image about all academicians. The following are the options of the union;

1. Write a strong letter to the president through the minister of Education and demand audience with him.

2. Write a letter to the president of the senate and speaker of the house of representatives and also have audience with them to brief them correctly on the situation.

3. Consider a court action seeking an injunction restraining the FG from violating the law by imposing IPPIS on our members.

4. Strong press releases, media briefings and campaigns against the planned imposition of the system on our members.

5. National and Zonal visitations to all our branches, sensitising and mobilising our members for an action in case our salaries are stopped.

My dear comrades, this is the brief I was able to gather at the NEC meeting. You may wish to digest it and make further input when we call for a Congress meeting pls. Thank you

Politics / Re: Army Shuts NGO Office As Militants Kill Aid Worker In Northeast Nigeria by nigeriaschoolne(f): 3:12pm On Sep 27, 2019
Gazakure:

The Nigerian army has closed the offices of aid group Mercy Corps in the country's restive northeast, the group said on Wednesday, while Daesh-linked militants executed one of six aid workers they abducted in July in the same area.

"Mercy Corps is suspending operations in Borno and Yobe States, Nigeria, following the closure of four of our field offices by the Nigerian military," the aid group said in a statement.

It is the second international charity to be shut down this month.

An AFP reporter witnessed soldiers camped at the entrance to the Mercy Corps' office in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

Militants execute ACF worker

Militants linked to a Daesh group killed one of six aid workers abducted two months ago, charity group Action Against Hunger (ACF) said on Wednesday.

"The armed group, holding captive an employee of Action Against Hunger, two drivers and three health ministry personnel, have executed a hostage," the Paris-based organisation said in a statement.

"Action Against Hunger condemns in the strongest terms this assassination and urgently calls for the release of the hostages."

Politics / Re: B/haram Kills Abducted Aid Worker In Borno by nigeriaschoolne(f): 3:11pm On Sep 27, 2019
jarawa:
Boko Haram militants were yesterday reported to have killed an aid worker with an international aid group, Action Against Hunger (AAH). The killing was discovered through a video purportedly released by a faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) on social media. The aid worker was one of the six humanitarian volunteers working for the aid group who were kidnapped in Borno State in July. It would be recalled that the Action Against Hunger (AAH) was banned from operating in Borno State by the military last week.

Six staff of the group, while traveling to deliver humanitarian assistance to IDP-returnees at Damasak town in July, were abducted by a Boko Haram faction, the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP). Meanwhile, the group has condemned the killing, saying, “Action Against Hunger condemns in the strongest terms this assassination and urgently calls for the release of the hostages’’. The group in a statement obtained from their website, yesterday reminded the insurgents that they were in the North-east only to help the most vulnerable.

According to the international NGO, the deceased was among six humanitarian field workers that comprise an employee of AAH, two drivers and three health personnel of the Ministry of Health. “Action Against Hunger is extremely concerned and is fully mobilised to ensure that the remaining hostages can be quickly and safely reunited with their families.

“Action Against Hunger also requests that the public and journalists respect the dignity of the victim and privacy of the families by not sharing images or videos that may circulate on the internet,” the statement added, saying, “Action Against Hunger does not have more comments at this stage.” The United Nations also called on authorities in Nigeria to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. “I am appalled and deeply saddened by the news of the horrific execution of an aid worker this morning. My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends and colleagues,” said a statement by the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon.

“The United Nations also calls for the immediate release of all aid workers who are still in captivity,” the statement said, quoting Mr. Kallon as saying, “I am also extremely concerned about the increasingly dangerous and restrictive operating environment for implementing humanitarian assistance in crisis-affected areas, where humanitarian aid workers continue to face challenges as they strive to deliver urgent, life-saving assistance. “I renew the call for all parties to the conflict to ensure the protection of aid workers and to respect international humanitarian law according to the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, independence and impartiality.

“The humanitarian community in Nigeria is working in line with the 2019-2021 Humanitarian Response Strategy, jointly agreed with the Government of Nigeria, to provide life-saving assistance to 6.2 million of the most vulnerable people in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states,” the statement added. Our correspondent had in July this year reviewed a short video clip that went viral on social media, showing a woman alongside five men appealing to their employer – AAH and other relevant authorities to help rescue them from their abductors.

It was then confirmed by another volunteer working for AAH at an IDP camp in Maiduguri, that the six persons showed in the purported Boko Haram video were real volunteers working for the Borno-based aid group.

Politics / Re: Edo To Divest 50% Of State’s Equity In Azura Power, Reinvest Proceeds In Benin by nigeriaschoolne(f): 9:34am On Sep 26, 2019
Binikingdowm:
*Edo to divest 50% of state’s equity in Azura Power, reinvest proceeds in Benin Industrial Park*

*_…divestment valued at N2.1bn_*

In its determination to explore financial instruments to fast-track the development of the Benin Enterprise and Industrial Park project, the Edo State Government has concluded plans to divest 50 per cent of its equity stake in the Edo Azura Power Project valued at N2.1billion for onward investment in the $200 billion industrial park project.

The development is coming in the wake of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment being undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Environment to assess the impact of the project on the host communities.

Speaking after the weekly Executive Council (EXCO) meeting at the weekend presided over by the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at Government House, in Benin City, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said the decision to divest 50 per cent of its equity stake in the Edo Azura Power Project was borne out of the need to leverage existing investment resources at its disposal to finance development of the industrial park.
He explained that the state government’s equity investment in the power project was its land asset and other infrastructure, 50 per cent of which is valued at N2.1bn.

According to him, “We will be investing the 50 per cent stake being divested from Edo Azura Power Project into the development of the Benin Enterprise and Industrial Park to ensure the smooth take-off of the park.

“We are keen on the development of the Benin Enterprise and Industrial Park project. As you are well aware, we have started out with the mini-hubs; the Edo Production Centre is currently operational at the Sapele Road axis of the state. Two more are to be built in Benin, while one each will be sited in Edo Central and Edo North Senatorial Districts.

“However, in doing that, we have not lost sight of the big-ticket project, the Benin Enterprise and Industrial Park, which is going to attract the big companies to the state. These companies will operate with power to be supplied from the CCETC Ossiomo Power Plant.”

Osagie said the deployment of the proceeds from the divestment to the Benin Enterprise and Industrial Park project is a testament to the governor’s expertise in the frugal allocation of scarce resources, a quality that Edo people are now benefiting from.

Nairaland / General / Re: Buhari Approves Seven New Industrial Parks – Official by nigeriaschoolne(f): 1:22pm On Sep 25, 2019
cyrilamx:

President Muhammadu Buhari has given approval for the establishment of seven new industrial parks to support the Nigerian Industrial Revolution plan, an official said on Thursday.

The Acting Managing Director, Nigeria Exports Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), Terhemba Nongo, said the parks would be located in each of the country’s six geo-political zones.

In a media chat on Wednesday, Mr Nongo listed the locations of the parks to include Lekki in Lagos; Makurdi in Benue State; Benin, Edo State; Ilorin, Kwara State; Sokoto; Gombe and Abakiliki in Ebonyi.

He said the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) in Ilorin, Makurdi, and Sokoto are almost completed.
He said the government would be able to attract ‘the right investments’ by the time the infrastructural development, which will soon be provided for the project, is completed.

“Each of the zones would provide a minimum of 50,000 direct jobs for the country, thus giving a total of 350,000 direct jobs for the seven of them. In terms of indirect jobs, the zones can create about one million jobs for the country.

“These new industrial parks in the works would spike infrastructure development and unleash a new wave of job opportunities for our teeming youths. It is worth stressing that with every free zone or industrial park licensing, the door is open for serious infrastructure development,” the Nation quoted Mr Nongo as saying.

He also threatened that the licences of inactive FTZs in the country be revoked.

He said going by the importance of Free Trade Zones in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and economic diversification, the “government will no longer watch the laxity at which those given the licenses are treating the zones”.

“We have three types of investments in Free Trade Zones. We have the private development by the zone run by private sectors.

“We have Public-Private Partnership (PPP) which is between the government and the private sector. We also have public zone which is owned by the government.

“The challenges we are having in the Free Trade Zones are the ones owned by the state governments. We are talking with them and the response is a little bit encouraging,” he said.

He said the agency had given some of the state-owned FTZs timelines and “if they don’t start within the next year, their licenses will be revoked”.

He, however, said the Centenary Economic City, Tomaro and Abuja Technology village are not among the ‘inactive zones’.

Politics / Re: INEC Suspends Results Collation In Kano by nigeriaschoolne(f): 1:21pm On Sep 25, 2019
Episteme2:
There is uncertainty surrounding yesterday’s Kano State supplementary governorship election after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) suspended the collation of results following a disruption of the process by hoodlums.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Riskuwa Shehu, announced the suspension of collation early this morning citing the invasion of Nasarawa Local government collation centre by thugs.

Briefing journalists, observers and party representatives at the State INEC office, Shehu said: “As we were waiting to reconvene with the intention to continue with the collation, we heard a disturbing report that just as they were about to conclude, results collation in Nasarawa local government were disrupted and the result sheet torn away and there was a lot of commotion and the police had to rescue some people.

“As it is now, we don’t have the result and even the E. O. (Electoral Officer) had to be rescued. Luckily, nothing happened to him. He was saved from the crisis

“But the intention of the commission is that we are going to refer to our primary and secondary data of results that were collated from the polling units as well as the ward level.

“When we get the results in the presence of all the representatives of political parties, we will regenerate the results and we will confirm those that are acceptable within our laws and guidelines and those that have to be cancelled because the card readers will have to be referred to as well.

“Based on that, we will have genuine results and we will complete the collation for the state governorship election,” he said.

Early results from the areas in which the re-run election was held in Kano State showed that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of the APC and Abba Kabir-Yusuf of the PDP were running each other close.

Yesterday’s election held in 208 polling units in 29 local governments with 128,831 voters.

The PDP candidate had polled 1,014,474 votes during the first election, while the APC scored 987,819 votes, leaving a difference of 26,655 votes.

PDP Urges INEC To Declare Its Candidate Winner In Kano

Meanwhile, the opposition PDP has called on INEC to immediately declare its candidate, Abba K. Yusuf, winner of the Kano State governorship election, as he had scored the highest number of lawful votes and secured the statutory 25 per cent in two-thirds of the state.

The party insisted, in a statement yesterday, that no valid polling held on the March 23 Kano supplementary elections and therefore no figures can be fabricated from the exercise to displace Abba Yusuf’s leading margin of over 26, 000 votes.

According to the statement signed by the PDP national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, “INEC is already aware that its supplementary election in Kano was completely disrupted by thugs contracted by the APC, who invaded polling units and chased away voters. The commission therefore cannot accept fabricated figures being bandied by the APC as results from the scuttled rerun.

“The people of Kano State have since made up their minds to have Abba Yusuf as their governor and any attempt by anybody to subvert their will, as already expressed in the March 9 substantive poll, will surely attract the legitimate anger of the masses.

“We therefore call on INEC to immediately do the needful by respecting the will of the people as freely expressed on March 9 and announce Abba Yusuf, the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, as the winner of the election, having fulfilled the demands of Section 179 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended),” the party said.

Also, national leadership of the PDP has backed the demands on the IINEC to cancel the March 23 Kano State Supplementary election following the disruption of polls and bloodletting by the APC.

The PDP, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said all material facts on the supplementary election in Kano State showed that rampaging APC thugs violently took over polling units, attacked and chased away voters and engaged in massive thumb-printing and ballot stuffing for the APC.

The statement added, “INEC is already aware that the Police arrested the Kano State Commissioner for Special Duties, Muktar Yakasai, alongside APC thugs he led to disrupt election in Yelwa in Dala Local Government area of the state.

“Also INEC is already aware of how APC thugs attacked voters in polling units in Gama area of Kano state during which four PDP members were feared killed and many more injured before they carted away ballot boxes for stuffing for the APC,” the statement alleged.

The PDP further cautioned INEC to note that in this circumstance, any results they come out with from this “convoluted electoral process will be a sham and will surely be rejected by the people of Kano State.

“It is completely reprehensible that the APC and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje would resort to violence and bloodletting as a means to attempt to hold on to power after they have been rejected by the people,” the party added.

APC Wins Plateau

The incumbent governor and APC candidate in Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong was this morning declared winner of the rerun election in the state.

In the result announced this morning by INEC, Lalong scored 595,582 votes to defeat Senator Jeremiah Useni of the PDP who got 546,813 votes.

With this Lalong has secured a second term in office.

Collation Officer Shot In Benue

It was a tragic experience for a local government collation officer for Gboko Local Government Area, Comfort Dooshima, as she was shot by unknown gunmen in Makurdi, the Benue State.

Ms Doshima, a professor and lecturer at the University of Agriculture, was on her way to the INEC headquarters, Makurdi, to present results from the local government.

She was rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital.

Benue is one of five states where supplementary governorship elections were held on Saturday. The others are Sokoto, Plateau, Bauchi and Kano.

LEADERSHIP Sunday reports that Governor Samuel Ortom of the PDP was cruising to victory from the results so far collated.

Results of the supplementary governorship poll in Benue State announced so far indicated that the incumbent governor, Samuel Ortom, was leading in the 16 out of the 22 local governments affected.

Of the 16 local governments so far announced, the PDP candidate had polled a total of 11,166 to beat his closest opponent, APC’s Emmanuel Jime who scored a total of 6,420 votes. Results from six local government were pending.

LEADERSHIP Sunday recalls that out of the 23 local governments of the state, the supplementary governorship polls were to be held in 22 LGs and nine for state House of Assembly seats.

In the first round of the election held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, Ortom had polled 410,576 votes against Jime’s 329,022 votes, leading the later with a margin of 81,554 votes.

The election was however declared inconclusive and yesterday was fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the conclusion of supplementary elections.

Gun Attack On Inec Officers In Makurdi

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen were reported to have attacked the convoy of INEC personnel returning to Makurdi collation centre from Gboko local government after the governorship and state assembly supplementary polls.

The attack, according to the Resident Commissioner, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, took place in Tarka local government where he said the Gboko local government collation officer for the governorship election, Professor Comfort Tuleun was hit by bullets. According to him, the victim is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

While condemning the dastardly act, Dr Yilwatda called on security agencies to work round the clock to apprehend the miscreants.

Also, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC)for Benue, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, has confirmed the attack on the commission’s convoy on Gboko-Makurdi road by unknown gunmen on Saturday night.

Yilwatda told Journalists in the early hours of Sunday at the INEC headquarters Makurdi, that the Returning Officer for the Governorship supplementary polls in Gboko, Prof. Comfort Tuleun was hit by a bullet during the attack.

”At about 8:30pm this evening an attack was launched on a convoy of INEC personnel returning to Makurdi Collation Centre from Gboko LGA after the close of the Governorship and State Assembly Supplementary polls by unknown gunmen.

”In the course of the attack on the convoy including INEC permanent and ad hoc staff as well as security agencies at Tarka LGA, Prof. Comfort Tuleun, the Gboko LGA Collation Officer for the governorship election was hit by bullets and she is currently receiving treatment.

”The wounded collation officer is from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM).

”INEC regrets this unfortunate incident and calls on security agencies to work tirelessly to apprehend these miscreants and bring them to judgment.

”Meanwhile, as a result of this incident, the commission has no choice but to appoint Dr Joseph Mom of FUAM to replace the wounded official.”

Politics / Re: Treason: President Buhari Told To Stop Sowore’s Trial Immediately by nigeriaschoolne(f): 5:47pm On Sep 24, 2019
TITOPE:
http://www.titopeblog.com/2019/09/treason-president-buhari-told-to-stop.html

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to terminate the trial of the publisher of the Saharareporters Omoyele Sowere with immediate effect.

HURIWA said it has been inundated with messages from all over the World by persons expressing the unanimous view that the charges framed against Sowore are a disgrace to the corporate image of Nigeria.

According to the group, the charges have made Nigeria appear like a huge joke to the rest of the civilized World just as most people have said that the persecution of Sowore and others depicts Nigeria like the General Idi Amin of Uganda or even the tyranny of Yoweiri Museveini.

The rights group stated that the frivolous charges slammed on the activist including the infantile charge of insulting the president is a direct affront to the fundamental legal principle in which constitutional democracy is anchored upon.

The rights group said there is a general accord on the sensitivity and centrality of freedom of speech in a constitutional democracy in all schools of thought.

“Freedom of speech is an important part of democracy because it protects minorities’ rights to speak in politics participation. Freedom of speech puts restrictions on tyranny of the majority who are required to sacrifice their own time in order to permit minority opposition to express their views and ideas. Also the Rights group pointed to section 14 (2) (c) of the constitution which clearly provides that the participation by the people in their government SHALL be ensured in accordance with the provisions o this c constitution. The Rights group said the call for CIVIL Action by Omoyele Sowore for which he was picked up was constitutionally guaranteed.”

The Rights group, which stated that those spurious charges instituted by the office of the Federal Attorney General and minister of Justice in partnership with the Department of States Services under a democratic administration is a direct throwback to the sad and sordid days of misfortune and disaster called military dictatorship just as the group said the illegal and arbitrary arrest of the activist and his other followers amounted to an abuse of power which offends the constitution in section 15(5) which states that Nigerian state shall abolish all corrupt practices and abuse of power.

“Does Mr. President not know that the atrocious act of locking up political opponents, civil rights activists and journalists in the 21st century has gradually exposed Nigeria to the danger of being regarded as a rogue administration?”

HURIWA said: “We find it unbelievable that the Federal Government on Friday last week filed seven counts of treasonable felony and money laundering against the Convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Mr Omoyele Sowore when it is a notorious fact that these are simply spurious and unsustainable charges which cannot stand any standard judicial test in a properly constituted independent court system which the Nigerian constitution in section 6 envisages. Recall that Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and a presidential candidate in the February 2019 presidential election, is charged along with Olawale Bakare, also known as Mandate. The charges were signed on behalf of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), by Aminu Alilu, a Chief State Counsel in the Department of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Justice.”

On the charges which were filed a day before the expiration of the detention order of the Federal High Court in Abuja permitting the Department of State Service to keep the activist for 45 days, HURIWA says the continuous detention of these Nigerians and many others remain unlawful and unconstitutional and the Federal government is under a legal and moral obligations to end this persecution now. ”

“For the Federal government to stylishly rush to The court to institute frivolous charges when the detention order elapses on September 21 shows that the government completely lacks any rational reason for this continuous persecution. In the charges instituted against the defendants, the prosecution accused Sowore and his co-defendant of committing conspiracy to commit treasonable felony in breach of section 516 of the Criminal Code Act by allegedly staging “a revolution campaign on September 5, 2019 aimed at removing the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The entire World views these cocktails of draconian charges as an attempt to return Nigeria to the dark days of dictatorship”.

The rights group faulted the prosecution who also accused the activists of committing the actual offence of reasonable felony in breach of section, 4(1)(c) of the Criminal Code Act, by using the platform of Coalition for Revolution, in August 2019 in Abuja, Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, to stage the #RevolutionNow protest allegedly aimed at removing the President because in the opinion of HURIWA these citizens calling for CIVIL protests are allowed by the Nigerian Constitution to enjoy the fundamental right to freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association”.

HURIWA also condemned the alleged use of torture against Omoyele SOWORE by the DSS as alleged by the defendant who stated that the DSS threw him on a cold floor and locked the door at the detention facility of the DSS.

here is my advice for you.

Since, you have been having an average if 280-314 in UTME it means you not a dull student, you should go back to UTME syllabus and identify areas yo have not mastered in your Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and biology especially. study all topics well and be sure to have about 95% mastery of the topics.

The most competitive universities as regards MBBS in Nigeria are UNILAG, UNILORIN, UI, OAU, LASU, UNN, UNIABUJA and others. if you still want to apply to any of the aforementioned, you must score very high targeting 360-380. I remember vividly that a girl had 394 score in UTME three years ago and could not meet the cut off of OAU MBBS.

YOU can choose less competitive universities to actualise your dream FUOYE, AKUNGBA, Ambrose Alli, Delsu, Unimaid, Unijos, Benue state University and others.

You can change your course to microbiology, biochemistry, medical rehabilitation, Physiotherapy etc.

Politics / Re: Blessing Galore As Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin Foundation Splash Out N45 Million by nigeriaschoolne(f): 7:45am On Sep 21, 2019
Tmgold1:
Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin through his foundation, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin Foundation (JOFF) recently gave out four cars, scholarship and cash worth N45 million on loyal workers of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (C.M.D.M), Warri, Delta State, popularly called Mercy City alias ‘The Arena of Solution and Power’ alongside some members who sacrifice the little they have for the work of God and a former sex worker.

The service tagged ‘The father’s blessing’, the man of God, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin had announced that members should come to church with a sacrifice to receive from God. Just as the man of God explains, sacrifice breaks protocol; the father’s blessings need an action to cause a reaction. In obedience it was practically seen in the service that brothers and sisters who brought their sacrifice received their blessings from God through his servants the prophet. While some gave out of their abundance, others gave their all and their widow’s might.

An empty wallet was found amongst the seeds given and the owner, Mr. Jacob Okuna said he wants God to bless him and the man of God blessed him with the sun of five hundred naira (N500, 000). As that was going on, we found a wine argots the seed, the man of God again asked the giver, Mrs. Regina Odjugo to come out as she came, we dis covered another interesting seed. The wine is for God to remember her family and the man of God blessed her with the sun of five hundred naira (N500, 000).

As if that wasn’t enough, Joy Godwin who gave wrappers came out to tell us why she brought them as her seed. Her reason will melt your heart. She said they don’t last in her family, the clothes was to sow a seed of family longevity. She wants to be old as the prophet’s mother. Prior before the Sunday service, the tireless general located Sister Joy Aiwanusubhor, (Former sex worker) at the mountains of solution. During the father’s blessing, the prophet blessed her with the sun five hundred naira (N500, 000) to set up a hair style business through his foundation as well. The former sex worker rededicates her life to God and accepted Jesus as her Lord and personal Saviour.

Out of the massive crowd, a secondary school student from Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene (dressed in her school uniform), Divine Sunday Dick beat all ushers and protocol; ran to the alter crying, shouting to get the attention of the man of God to help her education. Indeed her cry was heard and Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin gave her scholarship to University level and the sum of two hundred and forty-seven thousand naira (247,000) as payment of her school fees, third term up-front, out of which one hundred thousand naira (100,000) was for her school bag, uniform, stationaries etc. According to the founder of Mercy Television, one of the reasons JOFF was set up was to fight against illiteracy (War against Illiteracy).

Sister Lilian Duru Chukwu (CMDM worker - Usher/Pool attendant received five hundred naira (N500, 000) from the prophet for her dedication and sincerity to the work of God. Elder Paul Fufeyin (CMDM Development committee chairman) received Toyota Venza with one hundred thousand naira (100,000) for registration of vehicle; Pst. Gamaliel Eghagha received Toyota Camry with one hundred thousand naira (100,000) for registration of vehicle; Gideon Oro Oguma, Protocol/Personal Assistance to the man of God received Toyota Camry with one hundred thousand naira (100,000) for registration of vehicle and Nesiama Block, HOD CMDM Block Industry also received Toyota Corolla with one hundred thousand naira (100,000) for registration of vehicle from the Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin Foundation (JOFF).

For all this happened that the scripture maybe fulfilled. The father’s blessings relate things to God and it came after an action from the children of God. No one works for God without receiving a blessing….
