Depends on your play style

Cavani isn't very fast and his M/M Workrates mean that he might better suited to function as a target man.

I always Instruct my lone striker to drift wide and make constant runs, and as such Ramos with his rapid pace and H/M work rates is perfect for me.

A title challenger for me is a team that has a realistic chance of becoming champs come may.

we all saw what happened to them when they were hit by a few injuries and suspensions.

2.It can also be argued that they are this position now largely due to the fact that the uniteds and arsenals have failed to turn up, YET and these two aren't even considered title contenders.

Firstly, I don't buy the 'squad depth' excuse. This is the same southampton that sold their all their key players save for Schneiderlin last summer. Yet they're in third place now.

Chelsea has lost twice already this season AND dropped points to Southampton. It is not a foregone conclusion that we would win this year...Afterall we were neck and neck with City on the log this time last week...

Also, there's a difference between contender and champion.

In boxing, the contenders are the top 10 ranked boxers in a weight division, who then compete to be mandatory challenger for the title.

Similarly, in the EPL, the contenders for the title are the top 4 teams on the log, since you have to be that close to be considered to have a realistic even if outside chance at the title.

And I think the point Airbornelacer was trying to make that day was that, as long as Soton keep up the pressure(ostensibly by maintaining a top 4 spot), they can be legitimately be called Title Challengers...does that sound so foolish to you?

So far so good, they've beaten or drawn three members of the top 4, and have the best defence in the leave having conceded the fewest number of goals.

The have no distractions in Europe, and only have to contend with the FA cup this year.

And they're in 3rd place, only 10 points from the top. As we all saw last season, the guys who were 12 points clear in January ended up finishing 4th

So why do you not think they can be called title contenders? Because of a lack of pedigree? Because there is certainly precedent in Chelsea and more recently Man City...
