Iamblessed8888: Lol @ stunt with. I agree that it’s a curated and cosmetic solution. It’s kinda cool though. It keeps things on an even keel “Current account surplus drops 65% to $1.4 billion in Q4 2025 Nigeria’s current account surplus declined sharply by 65.52% to $1.4 billion in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025, down from $4.06 billion recorded in the third quarter (Q3). This is according to data released on Wednesday by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It also showed that the country’s overall balance of payments (BOP) surplus fell to $2.67 billion in Q4 2025, compared to $4.6 billion in the preceding quarter. The development highlights increasing strain on Nigeria’s external sector, driven by declining export earnings and rising import demand, even as some inflows provided limited support.” What the report is saying https://nairametrics.com/2026/03/19/current-account-surplus-drops-65-to-1-4-billion-in-q4-2025/One day the shakara go end and omo the drop go nasty. |

Iamblessed8888: Tinubu appears to be waving some magic wand over the exchange rate lol. Nice one Lmao, na they are just flooded the market with all the dollars they are making plus the dollar is generally down now because of the war and oil issues. Once that's resolved and oil price come back down the amount of dollars the govt can stunt with will drop drastically. |

Some bank stocks are also undervalued currently Have my eye on four bank stocks but only two have good entry prices going forward but doesn't have sign of a major uptick, the one bank I am very interested in have gone above my entry price while I was busy with other life challenges lol. oando has I think political leverage cus their books ain't making sense at the moment. |

Beeron: The bitter truth is you should pray to see red days because money is made in the zig zag movement of price action in the market.
Red days is essential otherwise, even your barber and shoe maker will all be investing in stocks/equities untill it becomes a bubble and burst in the most violent way, so red days are good days indirectly.
Now to your question: The reason why the market is 25% - 30% up is because institutional money entered the market last month, so if you have pension fund somewhere, chances are managers of that pension fund bought stocks last month.
Now if those conservatives pension guys bought stocks, ask yourself; why should I be scared to invest now if the most conservative investors in the country are the once providing liquidity to the market?
Institutional money only made the market stronger and a sign of more green days in the future, this current red which is not red enough for my liking (because it's mere profit taking and not real correction) is a blessing for people looking to enter now or any time the market turns red again. My local fundamentals analysis show money is currently thrown at stock right now. Waiting to see when it balances out |

I see the capital market doing better than last year I truly know how hard it is o, I am gauaging for an estimate and please any input or insight if you find any time to clock in heavily please I would love such input if it comes, the election is going to being unpredictable swings which I am very weary about but funds will be liquidated to find these election as I predict it would be the most expensive elections ever in Nigeria. I don't see the capital market doing better than last year because after reviewing a lot of these stock their valuation is way to much except the top blue chip companies and the only reason they have large value is because of the exchange rate and if the rates go lower it reduces the value thrown into stocks. A lot of penny stock are overvalued. |

EquityM: Yes, when stocks are down or there are rumors of war, gold prices go up. I've been monitoring the gold platform on the bank website for days now, and it has been green all week. They even have a pensioner gold fund, which yields higher than the normal gold fund. it come to my attention that the old generation are looking after themselves, I pity my generation and lower we have little to not stake going forward. Those baby boomers own everything and prioritize themselves we just dey look. |

Me I am waiting on that dip, once I get a dip that's a comfortable range, I will engage with equity or direct stocks. I have a list of them I am reviewing and checking the value fundamentally. If it doesn't I remain in MMF till it's dipping period towards end of the year. I missed the ride from January big mistake. |

richgang: Hello House,
Please enlighten us. Since most of these equities usually return around 30% to 51%, I noticed that GT Equity did about 57% last year, while ARM did about 55%. Most of them have already done more than 25% this year alone, which means only about 25% to 35% may be left for the rest of the year.
So it seems likely that more red days could still come.
My question is: since most of these equities have already done almost 50% in just about three months, is it still advisable to invest in equities now, or would it be better to relax with MMF until next year and then invest in equities starting January 1? It's still uncharted it might end in the year at 40% and those that invested when it 50% will lose 10% or it might be 100% at the end and those that entered at 50% make 50%. It's not guaranteed but the main part that is would be that you won't lose it all or most of your investment |

LoriHamo: Chaiiii....I feel the frustration in your message
I have equity with Stanbic too....the truth is that my capital isn't affected yet....
But bro.....can you give it time?....let it recover?.....
Meanwhile.....if you can.....do not put all your funds in equity since you are a beginner like me.......
Take things easier......
The truth is Equity is the only REAL fund "grower".....
Just start with like 20% of all your investment funds .....
Good luck Mistake people keep making because money is being made on some investment that goes up doesn't mean it won't come down then they move in heavy, get in early or go with the ride. If the up and down don't work for you invest in MMF and get daily influx and maintain it or invest the profit in equity that way capital is persevered and some fund are in equity dancing. |

EquityM: Mama equity 2: nice comment. He'll surely make the money back if he can handle volatility, but I think MMF might be suited for him. Most fund managers in Nigeria should have a mini exam like my foreign bank did to me here to know the risk level of an investor before accepting any payment. I will be investing in Gold and equity once my KYC is approved from their head office. "King Solomon Gold" They do just that people skip it, I did with Zedcrest, please this gold investment is it physical gold wish I had brought gold when my brother was back in the day. |

Iamblessed8888: Lmaoooo. That was an unfortunate comment. I couldn’t bring myself to engage further.
No one is better off than the other even if wealthier. Anyone can get rich. Sometimes it’s luck, privilege, inheritance, unfair advantage, employment, etc.
None of these determine your core composition as a man and they are worldly standards manufactured by humans.
The real test of a man is leadership, grit, honor, loyalty, steadfastness, intelligence, how you help the weak etc. These i can respect any day but not money. I was disappointed at the comment but shrugged it off and decided responding isn’t worth it. Well done chief, it’s funny to hear such comments, when I hear such in my head I just response that some dogs are richer, sorry cats and monkey are richer than a lot of us humans walking around with millions in bank accounts. |

You don't lose money in money market fund unless you meant Equity mutual fund. The post you responded to said MMF, and I got confused after reading what the original poster posted and the responses so it got me confused Abi is there another type of MMF. |

Beeron: Chief, I know you are surprised at the loss, hence the reason you voicing out.
(Let me make you smile)
If you had made equivalent gains of your current loss, will you have reported to the house?)
(That's on a lighter note; just kidding you, cheer up Chief)
Truth is, you went into it aggressively, you could have test the waters before investing a huge chunk in it. However, you still didn't make any mistake if you have the patience to wait it out. You will eventually smile.
As long as you haven't pull out your money yet, your current loss is regarded as "paper loss" not real loss.
You only going through the motions of emotions right now such as fear, grief, regret, confusion etc.
As long as you are calm and stay invested, it will all pass, you will smile again, I promise you.
Once you get back you capital and you know you not fit for this type of emotional rollercoaster, please move back the money to MMF or just invest little you wouldn't lose sleep over. My question is how do you lose money in a money market fund? |

EquityM: I'm currently working in Asia, and I am also running the local account here. I don't use dollars here, as they are of no use and worthless here; however, I use Western Union or Wise to transfer money to my Nigerian account, and this only brings me back to the USD rate when converting to naira. If the USD keeps falling, I always get an unfavorable rate. Oh okay, I was wondering what the value of this investment will be except you intend to use naira or come back to Nigeria. Because if the rates become too unfavourable then all those gains might become losses long term. But the again black tax dey lol |
