It's not a lie please. Just because you were not affected or stopped by those aimless people does not mean it's not true. Similar issues happened

to 2 people that I know this same week.

So to those of you, who wish to fly Turkish Airline please make sure you go to their stand/Office at the Airport about 1 - 2 hours earlier before boarding and ask them if there would be any issue with buying a One way Ticket or profer a possible solution to avoid been harassed.

BlessUp People
I traveled on a one way ticket with Turkish airlines and I wasn't disturbed...
The return ticket applies only to students going to UK not Germany. Remind them that in case the person at the counter is a "learner"
Information is power wink

Lol good you decided to take the train on your own. Google maps is a really great app. With it you won't need to ask people for direction.
That yesterday at the Bahnhof was something else grin... As from now I'll use google map like its my Bible.

Ninered reporting live from NRW, Germany. cool

Its been over a week I arrived and I swear this country dey sweet me die!!! But to be honest the hustle is real and to make it you need to work it.
Congrats to all those who got their visa this winter and success to those applying.
A lil tip to those arriving make sure you have google map and the DB navigator app. Its difficult to stop someone and start asking for direction especially if your German is below average.
If you can do a 3days crash program in German language before coming, pls do.
Yesterday I decided to take the train on my own with the small german I know... I didn't want to bother my friend anymore who has been of extreme help since I started this German dream (may God bless him & make him prosper).
Unfortunately for me my connecting train was switched from platform 2 to 10 and I didn't even hear the announcement even to read the notice on the board pass me embarassed. I just stood there waiting for 45mins like mumu. Nah later I gather mind approach two guys hoping they'll hear small English. They helped me locate a new connection to my destination after exchanging a series of cut & join English & German grin . When I got home I told my friend & other flat mates about my experience that day nah so all of them burst laugh grin

ask1509:
Hello Everybody,
I am Oluwasegun and I just got a scholarship to attend a science conference in Germany. The conference is fully sponsored. On reading through this thread and the Visa information page of the German mission, I know I have to do the following (please correct me if I'm wrong ):

1. Fill the Shengen Visa short stay application form and print it out.
2. Add the print out above to some other required documents for the business visa and gather the docs, also get the cash equivalent of the visa fee.
3. Book an appointment for Visa interview online at the consulate.
4. Go for the interview where I will submit all documents and pay for the visa in cash
5. Hope for the best result

However, I am a bit confused about the required docs due to my profile. I just came back to Nigeria last year (from Cameroon where I did my masters) and since then, I have been freelancing online basically on Fiverr and on Upwork. Consequently, I do not have all the following documents required for travellers attending a conference :

1 Certificate of Incorporation/Registration of the company in Nigeria
2 Memorandum and Articles of Association / Company and Allied Matters Act
3 Federal Inland Revenue Service Income Tax Clearance Certificate/Company Income Tax Clearance Certificate of the past year
4 Company´s bank statements of the last three months (only stamped and signed bank statements accepted)
5 Letter of introduction from employer
6 Employment contract and pay slips of the last three months
7 Evidence of business in Nigeria and also of former and current transactions in Nigeria and/or abroad (e. g. bills of lading, receipts, contracts)

I am thinking I should just be silent about my freelancing all together and tell them I am unemployed and that I am a prospective student (I have a PhD) admission already (but I am yet to start) in order not to complicate issues for myself. So that I will only have to provide doc 3 (the FIRS revenue Income Tax Clearance) and my Personal bank statements. However, will not providing docs 1, 2,4,5,6,7 above affect my chances? Also, do I really need FIRS revenue Income Tax Clearance (doc 3) since I am not working yet?

I will be looking forward to your comments and answers to the issues raised above. I will also like to have your comment regarding whether I should include being a freelancer or not as I think this will complicate issues for me. Finally, targeted arrival date is Nov 10, when is the best time to book an appointment?
Your case strong oo
For 1&2, what you need is a lawyer, you can as well check CAC website but the kind of documents you need is not something you just wake up and own.
From what I understand you should already have a registered and existing company (this is where doc. 1,2&3 apply), currently doing business with proof of same (4&7).
I doubt if you'll beat 10 Nov deadline.

Got AirFrance almost the same price with Turkish Airline for a return ticket. Charles De Gaul all the way.

That's cool, sometimes it depends on dates and which airport its landing. Also check the flight duration (9-13hrs is ideal) and connecting flights (1 change of flight is ok). All these stuffs affect prices & agents won't tell you.

Which airline are you using? I m also searching for a good deal? which airlines do you recommend.

Its your choice I'm not an agent but here are some airlines to choose from...
Top leagues are Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, British airways etc (this one nah your money kill am)
Average league: Emirates, Turkish airlines etc
Low league: Air maroc, Kenya airways, 9ja airlines etc
The trick is European airlines cost high, middle-east airlines average and African airlines cheapest.
I chose Turkish airlines...

Hello Good People.

Well for me, it's all about the job, living a comfortable life and helping my family back home, I'm sorry to have bored y'all with my long epistle, kindly take it laidat.

This is just the main thing I got out of the epistle the rest with a few editing will do well in a motivational letter smiley
I'm not experienced in all these stuff myself but this is what I have to say...
When it comes to schooling age is not a problem to Germany, the reason Germany is known to produce the oldest graduates in the world.
We all want a better life but you have to make the effort of research yourself.
No one will tell you " Mr mykohayz go to Stuttgart and study or Munich is the happening place where students are paid 25euro per hour or if you study a bachelor in Gender & Diversity you'll start earning 150k euro/yr or Hamburg has jobs everywhere you go or money flows in Berlin" even if they know nobody will tell you even Dangote hasn't truly revealed how he became the richest Black man.
Being confused is a good thing, it shows you're smart & want progress...it's only a fool who will be in a bad situation and be comfortable about it. Just pray to God for a focus.
Everything is possible so long as you have the will power, courage and a good plan.

Please who is experiencing this?

I called up wakanow.com to book a one way flight ticket for the 17th of September and the agent insisted since it is was my first time of travelling and not being a resident there that I have to book a return ticket. I insisted that people who had gone before didn't do that so I why shouldn't I book a return ticket when I am going with a study Visa, with this the guy said I will sign a declaration form in case the airline refuse me that I shouldn't blame them. Note, I intend flying with Air-Moroc airways. Thanks
When I was talking about buying your ticket directly from airlines and forgetting about agents some pages back you guys won't listen. smh undecided
I bought a one way ticket
I just told customer service I have a student visa and won't be returning in a while unless they have a return ticket for 10yrs grin , the man laughed. He was like are you sure you have a student visa and I said yes he didn't even ask to see my passport or visa and he just gave me my flight ticket after doing the money transfer of course.

Based on popular demand....

ESSENTIALS for traveling this Winter Session.
N/B: 1 suitcase & a backpack (for guys who like traveling light)
2 suitcase (medium size). Standard to fit in all your life for a long stay.
3 suitcase? Too much
Airlines are not smiling when it comes to excess baggage fee & exceeding about 20kg per luggage

1. BASICS
Have this in your backpack or carry-on.... Passport, Original documents, Cash(euro), Laptop/smartphone and a warm jacket.
Hold on to these items everywhere you go & all times as if your life depends on it, Why? Because it does!!!

2. What goes in the suitcase
CLOTHES; winter jackets, hoodies, sweaters, gloves, headwarmer, socks, tops, jeans (invest in good ones), Ankara wear (to show them you be 9ja), other accessories etc. Carry enough clothes coz they're expensive for new comers unless you want turn your brain into abokifx exchange rate. grin
For ladies don't forget wigs (esp braided wigs, weavons, relaxers, etc, you'll thank me later on the 1st time you ever visit a saloon in Germany.

FOOD:
Gari, dryfish, crayfish, egusi, ogbono, dry leafs and uncommon local ingredients your village people dey chop. (palm oil is prohibited)
Accessories: buy a universal plug or charger with 2 pin for your laptops/phone that's the standard for Germany.
And if you're a movie/music freak like me then you better download all your favorites into a flash coz downloading from what I hear is illegal in Germany but streaming is allowed though.

If your family/friends ask you to bring lots of food & other stuffs for them, don't be shy to ask for cash for the extra baggage but if you know you'll be squatting in their house you better comply oo so you don't turn homeless on your first night in Germany. grin

Pls feel free to add other useful tips and comments

Admitted on 20th June.
Interviewed on 10th August.
AM dropped on 8th September.

All glory to God almighty.

I wanna start by advising all new comers to start reading from the beginning so you can get acquainted with all tricks and procedures involved. I started by reading some comments in part 2, I read all of part 3, then into part 4. I even read as I woke up for my interview that morning to be sure I learn anything new. The waiting period for my AM was not a good experience as I can not remember when last I fasted and prayed like that but its worth it.

Mr Bigman, Honourablesheyi et al really helped me and I so appreciate.

The slim young Frau shouted on me severally during my interview but now, behold my AM.

I am 100% ready to give back and I was greatly assisted here. PM me or write me via email at my signature, I will always assist as much as I can.

For those who just got Am, I used mansard insurance, its 22,696 or so for six months. Its about the best I can find.

God is great, I swear. lol
Great news... Congrats

The essence of my post is for people who have gotten A.M mails to just use the reservation as indication of date of travel and submit to embassy with their passport so that embassy go release your Visa sharp sharp. Then they can relax and buy ticket when they like.
It was the method i used and there are other methods though...

What he is saying appears to be true. Look at the two pictures I attached. Wakanow is about 223,000 and directly from Turkish airlines is about 232,000
I saw that too, when I got my ticket it was 209 @ wakanow and I bought @ 217k @ Turkish.
But...
Have you heard of the term "Invitation to treat"? Oya go ahead let us know if extra charges is not involved not to talk of when you pay installmentally with wakanow.
Wakanow is cash & carry but the airways gives you time to make reservation.
Please others should share their experience nah the one I know I dey talk.

Sup bro, we are observing from online and research that the agents are even cheaper than booking through the airlines directly. we even tried it with their websites, but still wondering how then do these agents like wakanow, travelstart, juimiatravels etc make their profit. or is that not true ?
I reserved online first, its valid for 6days then I paid at the office.
It depends on the time of booking, if you want cheap flights. I booked about 4wks to my date of travel making it very cheap as opposed to someone who books 1 week or 3 days to flight
I think they use cbn rate. About agents being cheaper I don't believe that. Why not compare what agent gives you with that of the airline office.

My quetions are 1. If i am applying for like 3 different schools and courses on uniasist am i suppose to send more than one admission package to them? 2. Can i apply for more than one course in a particular school if yes will i send more than one package or just one packagebis ok ? 3. Can i combine with a friend to send package to schools if we are applying for same school but different course or even uniassist Thanks in anticipation
1. You can send one set of documents to them but it should include the 3 different application forms all in one package/envelope
2. Yes you can. I applied to 2 courses in one school through uni-assist and I got admission from both. One package with different application forms
3. Ask the school. But if it is under uni-assit, Yes you can, use different envelopes and put it in a bigger envelop and send to uniassit.

To be honest with you all these questions is on the Uniassit site, check FAQ...abi you just want to confirm from 20 mouths first grin

Hallo alle, guten morgen! wink
Please a friend needs to book for flight today and has 4 questions for those that just travelled to germany recently, or know people who did, or have much experience with this travelling stuff.
1) what is the best, easiest, most reliable and cheapest way to book for flights to anywhere in germany (although am thinking lagos to munich).
2) if it boils down to those common agents like wakanow or travelstart, is it better to go to their head office in lagos to do that in person, and which is more reliable.
3) how does one follow up with the booking to confirm it with the airlines thereafter (planning for Royal Air Maroc or at least Egyptair)
4) is royal air maroc unreliable, because i've head and read of both good and bad reviews, and know people who have used them as well but unable to contact them currently. although i choose to believe more of the good reviews.
thanks as i anticipate your various response kiss

What do you need an agent for when technology exist?
I booked for my flight online, directly on the airline website (Turkish airlines). I never used wakanow, travel start or whatever the name is.
You can pay online as well but I chose instead to go to the Turkish airlines office @ Victoria Island and buy my ticket on my own.
I also used the opportunity to ask customer service about the flights, various prices, time, duration, connecting flights etc
In my opinion I prefer Turkish airlines to Air Maroc. Someone I know traveled through Air Maroc last week and when they reached Casablanca for the connecting flight he had barely 15mins to board the 2nd plane and a lot of the passengers had to leave their luggages behind . He entered Germany without his luggage but the airline collected his address and promised to send the luggage to his German address. Assuming he had no address to give them that would be bye bye to his luggage.
Am not discouraging you maybe that kind of thing happens once in a blue moon. Also i guess Air Maroc is cheaper than the others.
Goodluck

So AM mail dropped today. Many many thanks to all the contributors on this thread.Like @ninered said, it's not that people don't want to contribute, the torture of waiting was something else. Besides, the interview questions were more or less same we've read on here.
Also conveying the wrong information to other folks based on one's personal experience wouldn't be appropriate. For example, I wasn't asked for the WAEC scratch card but my friend was asked to submit hers just last week.

For everyone that's still going through the process or has just begun, please read the pages diligently because there's so much to learn. Also, don't always take one person's comment as the only word. Try to gather as much information as you can and when you do go for your interview,go with all that is relevant. If they don't ask for it,you keep it.

Sorry for the epistle.

Interview on the 31st of July,
Funded on the 9th of August
AM mail 30th of August.
Big Congrats sis...
Waitoo my interview was 31st July as well. Was your interview @ 7am? If yes then I think we had a lil chat & prep on before interview. I was the lady putting on glasses... Small world. Lol

Now she say Mai go borrow sense.
Mrbigman no mind am...don't even sweat your self on small stuff.
I started reading this thread as well from middle of part2 and it helped alot. At some point i was tempted to open a German Agency business. grin
My first question ever was about Fintiba Block account because it was a new thing.
But you'll see people asking lazy questions like-
how do I travel to Germany?
Which schools are free in Germany?
How do I apply for student visa? etc
The one way weak me pass is...Is daad.de a website? shocked
Haba!!!
To all of us here... Please do some personal research and make Google, German embassy website and DAAD your buddy. Or better still just start reading from middle of part 3.
There's hidden gold in what people post here. You may not believe it but It was because of one old post I read from an old Oga on this thread that got me my Visa today.

Hello house, please those who have already received thier visas, even those from the past sessions with experience.
Where u guys able to track it immediately after dropping your passport, to know when and how it moved from the consulate before it got to you, especially those who used fedex prepaid.
then how did you also indicate that travel date (which should not be scheduled any sooner than at least 7 days after the posting of your envelope), as written inside the a.m mail for the consulate to see, did you write a small attached letter or what? and was it the same date you used for the insurance also. thanks
What I did was submit my passport, travel insurance + photocopy, printout of the a.m mail and a printout of my booking ticket from Turkish airlines(as indication of date of travel)... Hope it helps and Congrats.
