‘His force is depleted, and he has sustained heavy losses.’ The prestige of Russia’s great army has been tarnished.

‘He must not only bear the consequences of what he is doing to Ukraine, but he must also bear the consequences of what he is doing to his own troops.’

Britain has cautioned President Zelensky to stand firm in the face of Russian aggression, fearing that other allies may press him to agree to a hastily negotiated peace settlement that benefits Putin.

The Kremlin announced earlier this week that it would withdraw some of its forces from Kyiv and Chernihiv if negotiations in Turkey advanced, implying that work toward a ceasefire had begun.

Ben Wallace, the Defence Secretary, told Sky News last night: ‘As a result of today, additional lethal aid will be sent to Ukraine.’

However, government officials are anxious that US Vice President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz may press Zelensky to make considerable concessions in order to establish a peace agreement as soon as possible.

The aforementioned allied leaders looked ‘over-eager,’ according to a senior government source, to reach a peace deal, which might see Putin benefit from lower sanctions and avoid prosecution as a war criminal, among other concessions, in exchange for an end to hostilities in Ukraine.



‘Some of our allies may be too ready for [Zelensky] to settle,’ the insider added, before adding, ‘Before those discussions can take place, Ukraine must be in the strongest possible military position.’

In addition to this, the research organization issued a separate press release on Thursday reflecting on the attitudes towards the conflict with Ukraine.

"The majority of respondents support the actions of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. Among the motives of support: 'protection of the Russian-speaking population' and 'border security," the press release said, according to a Google translation.

The research organization also focused on what number of the population are paying attention to the conflict and what age they are. Of those asked, 64 percent of Russians said they closely follow the situation around Ukraine, while 35 percent said they practically do not follow it.

Of the 64 percent who said they follow the situation closely, 29 percent said they did so very carefully and 35 percent said the followed quite carefully. Of the 35 percent who said they do not follow, 27 percent follow without much attention, 8 percent do not follow at all.

"Most often, people aged 55 years and older follow the events," the press release stated.

"Seventy-six percent of them are closely watching, from the group of 40-54 years old, 70 percent of respondents are closely following, from the group of 25-39 years old about half (51 percent), in the youngest group, 18-24 years old—43 percent."

This increased support continues despite Putin facing international criticism for launching the invasion and underestimating the Ukrainian military.

The head of the British Armed Forces said Putin has "already lost" the conflict with Ukraine due to this misjudgment.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the chief of the defense staff, made these comments on Thursday during an event hosted by the independent think tank Institute for Government (IFG).

I know all these. Ukraine used to be very important part of the USSR. It is very close to the West. Infact, some USSR important military equipments like TU-160 that is capable of carrying out nuclear air raid on enemy's territory and intercontinental ballistic missiles were stationed in Ukraine as well as other things you mentioned. But they lacked the ability maintain these equipments and the facilities put in their care by the USSR. They gave some of the equipments to Russia and abondon some of the facilities.

Incase you don't know. Ukraine is also an arm exporter. But yet they are no match for Russia. They did not pay too much attention their military because they felt protected by Russia. But the coup in 2014 that led to the removal of Moscow's friend destroy the relationship btw them. So they are no match for Russia. But i believe will not invade Ukraine.

I can tell you this, Ukraine cannot be a push over in this war... Ukraine is the second military powerhouse in eastern Europe after Russia.
