". . . but the official was then powerless to overrule his original decision."

About this bit, shey once a decision/call is made, it can't be overruled/rescinded on the field of play ni?

I thought referees overrule decisions from time to time, especially corner kicks, throwings and the likes, no?

Ok, I see. cheesy

The referee Felix Brych awarded a freak goal that should never have stood as Sami Hyypia's Bayer Leverkusen went to the top of the Bundesliga on Friday by beating Hoffenheim 2-1. Already a goal up with 20 minutes to play, Stefan Kiessling headed Gonzalo Castro's corner into the side netting. As the striker held his head in his hands, the ball rolled into the goal through a hole in the net and Brych pointed to the centre circle.

Several Hoffenheim substitutes raced behind the goal to examine the netting for themselves, calling the attention of the referee to a small hole where the ball had entered, but the official was then powerless to overrule his original decision.

Rather than call for a replay, 'Maybe they should buy some proper nets,' says Rudi Völler grin

Mou also declared Nando available. I was pretty sure he picked up a minor injury.

Hazard must have shrugged his off. He's having problems on his ankle.

coogar: zidane played against denmark in france's most important game in that group & france lost woefully. let's stop overhyping zidane cos memories can't really pick all the games he was dismembered.
He suffered a horrific injury prior to that tournament and was rushed back for that match. You don't expect him to be top notch.

No one is overhyping Zidane, fact is, Zidane is God!

there's no midfield player in the history of the game that has made opponents suffer like iniesta. he broke the hearts of chelsea fans in the semis of 2009 CL. his goal broke hearts in the last world cup final @ extra time. he's more of a complete midfielder than zidane was. the only player ahead of him(arguably) is xavi!
So it's now based on the heartbreaks he has caused huh? Well, I can make a case for Fernandud Torres being the cause of the biggest heartbreak in the game's history with that goal against Iniesta's Barça.

coogar: perhaps, you didn't watch gravesen & rommedahl taking turns to sodomise zidane in korea in 2002. france did not qualify from their group.
The same Zidane that got injured in France' last warm up game against S. Korea prior to their curtain raiser at the Mundial?

Perhaps you also didn't watch Schweini and Martinez do Xavi and Iniesta bad à la Houla massacre?

dayokanu: Even with their best they are always just there to make up the numbers and make some noise

Get knocked out and complain about how they were robbed

1986- Hand of God
1990- Gazzas red card and penalty
1998- Beckhams red card
2002- Seamans error
2006- Rooneys red card
2010- Lampard non goals
That incident prompted the biggest decision in football since the FA put together the laws of the game some 150 years ago - Goal Line Technology!

Zidane is God!

A 34 year old Zidane turned world class Ronaldinho, Kaka et al to learners in 2006. Imperious!

33 years old Xavi and 29 years old Iniesta were stripped nakëd by Paulinho and fücking Gustavo!
