TV/Movies / Re: HiTV Subscribers Question And Answer Forum by niyi09(m): 5:50pm On May 14, 2009
I saw this on Hitv's website

HiTV leads African consortium for EPL

WHOLLY Nigerian pay-TV company, HiTV, is teaming up with 11 other African pay-TV operators in an attempt to wrest English Premier League (EPL) Sub-Saharan African rights from existing holders MultiChoice.
HiTV alongside Yes TV (Sierra Leone ), Star TV (Rwanda), Total Acces (Burkina Faso), Skyy Media (Ghana), Kiss FM (Kenya), Zuku TV (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda), Vox Africa (pan-regional), Next Generation Broadcasting (Ghana), Imanle Africa (Cameroon, Benin), plus several former representatives from now defunct satellite platform GTV covering Liberia, Tanzania and Uganda, today presented their combined bid to the English Football Association (FA).

The bid, if successful, will not only take the EPL rights from MultiChoice but also create a new continent-wide broadcast platform that will offer every country in Africa its own DTH platform, according to HiTV, which already holds the EPL rights within Nigeria.
HiTV said the continent-wide technology and content backbone being created will allow individual countries in Africa to develop their own independent broadcasting market and tailor their service to meet the demands of regional viewers.
The move is part of HiTV's ongoing campaign to have content rights owners treat Africa in terms of individual territories rather than North, South and sub-Saharan regions. HiTV began this process when it carved out Nigerian EPL rights for itself.
This tactic not only meant the GTV platform couldn't enter Nigeria, since its selling point in other sub-Saharan African markets was exclusive football coverage, but it allowed HiTV to build a base of 200,000 subscribers in the two years. HiTV said this growth is largely down to the EPL rights.
"Our proposal will open up the market to individual countries to build and develop their own broadcast markets and drive investment. As football has such a global appeal, it only seems fitting that it is set to unite African broadcasting," said Toyin Subair, MD and CEO of HiTV.
The HiTV-led consortium believes that the existing bidding process for the English Premier league perpetuates the monopoly of sub-Saharan African broadcasting by Multichoice's DSTV service, since it treats the entire region as one big deal rather than smaller deals for its constituents territories.
"We want to streamline the model to allow broadcasters and viewers to have greater control over this content," added Subair. "Africa is an emerging market for the global broadcasting industry and there is huge potential for international content owners and advertisers."
The HiTV-led bid for EPL rights to the 2010-2013 seasons is by no means assured to succeed. MultiChoice operates the DSTV platform across the whole of Africa, has EPL rights to South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa (ex-Nigeria) and is unlikely to give up these rights without a fight, even if the FA does completely change the way it sells both its African and Middle Eastern EPL rights. The FA is to decide on the 2010-2013 rights "within a few months," a HiTV source said.

hmmm not to commit atrocities abi? i only said i saw you,i didnt talk about what you were doing there,why were you quick to defend yourself,its normal for someone staying in moz to be found around Anglo-moz whether doing the right thing or committing atrocities like you said and madam chairman Why cant we have the meeting in new buka,do u have new buka phobia grin grin??.

The way you reacted to me saying that i have seen you in Anglo-moz before sounded like keji-2008 reaction too when i told her that she hangs around anglo-moz when she was in part 1.why did u guys go on the defensive, wetin dey happen for that anglo-moz, i must go there when we resume to inspect, grin grin grin grin grin grin

From what i know about OAU direct entry,OAu does not allow direct entry from every polythecnic except some few once like Yabatech,Federalpoly EDE.The admission is based on all the 3 conditions you mentioned.

@nisot23
cool pic.You look familiar,i must have seen you around that ANGLO-MOZ car park b4 grin grin grin grin grin grin.i don't attend moz101 classes again cos i discovered that it is inversely proportional to CGPA( it affected me in my first semester).i only pop in moz once in a while to see whats going on.
@pongwa

Economics dept(OAU), hmmm one of the most feared department in OAU.For me i have offered 5 courses in that dept and i have only gotten one "B"(ssc106).my best course was ECN 204( i almost scored everything).Its a pity my dept does not allow us to offer courses in Economics again,i would have sure gone for more.My best lecturer is MR ARAWOMO
@jarus
bros i hear say u be first class?,  na true
@nisot23
ssc102, is simple, just read
Education / Re: Strictly For Great Ife by niyi09(m): 11:38am On Apr 26, 2009
@nisot23and keji_2008
Moz101  grin grin is a course i registered for but i dont always attend classes because the time for the classes(4pm-10pm) always clash with some other things.you guys should upload your profile pics too(all those ones you took in pixels,megatrends and klicks.i am going to change mine now).MOZ101 can run once CGPA down and there are even better courses i can offer like mor 101,alm 101 and spt101(moremi,alumni and sport).
@pongwa
first point of correction ssc101 is not a mathematical course,its a sociology course,what you are probably talking about is ssc105(mathematics for social scientists).you cant compare ssc105 and mth 101 because they are not meant to test the same thing.I would not argue with you cos the problem with most science students is that they think every other person on campus that is not in the sciences is offering an easy course.If you think ssc105 is ss3 maths, simply come and offer it cool
Education / Re: What Is The Cut Off Mark For 2009/2010 Oau ? by niyi09(m): 5:59pm On Apr 20, 2009
248 for medicine, hmmm its going to be tough cos the cut off for medicine is always around 280 but this does not mean no hope at all
Education / Re: Strictly For Great Ife by niyi09(m): 5:56pm On Apr 20, 2009
@jarus
hmmm big bros, well its always good to build the CGPA from part 1 but its not easy cos of all the part 1 distractions and the fact that one is just new to the system
Education / Re: Strictly For Great Ife by niyi09(m): 5:46pm On Apr 20, 2009
@nisot23, i am wishing you all the best in your ssc105.i saw the questions and it was quite simple compared to the ssc105 that i did.How many days did you go without taking your bath during the water crises(confess o) grin grin grin grin ;, welcome to great ife,you always need to nurse fears about going home(thats part of your study in fact it is a course we all have to regsiter ALUTA 101(ALT 101).I am sure you are enjoying home now, dont eat too much oo grin grin grin
Education / Re: Oau Admission For 2009/2010 Session by niyi09(m): 10:39am On Apr 20, 2009
@topetobi
you would be allowed to write post ume for any course as long as you score 200 but for courses like medicine only a jamb score of around 280 coupled with a equally high post ume of around 280 can guarantee you admission
Education / Re: What Is The Cut Off Mark For 2009/2010 Oau ? by niyi09(m): 10:31am On Apr 20, 2009
@raregem
with 256 in jamb for psychology,i think you have hope just make sure you get something in that range for your post-ume
Education / Re: Strictly For Great Ife by niyi09(m): 10:25am On Apr 20, 2009

how r u,hope you coped with the water situation very well atleast they come to feed you girls in moz with water. how was ur exam(ssc105,PHIL 101,his 101) i heard there was no time for the ssc105.You did not perform very well as the part 1 chairlady, i think we have to review that, you guys did not do enough publicity grin grin grin grin grin grin.i am waiting for the other members of the committee before we hand down our verdict on you grin grin grin
