NIGEZIE, HI NOLLY GEAR UP TO SHINE AT HOTBIRD TV AWARDS 2008

Like a goldfish without a hiding place, the exploits and achievements of Nigeria’s premier satellite pay TV provider HITV in broadcasting have continued to generate attention and accolades from stakeholders in the broadcasting industry; both locally and internationally, the latest being the nomination of two of its channels: Nigezie and hinolly for the 2008 Hot Bird TV Awards in the Cinema and Lifestyle categories.

Since 1996, the Hot Bird TV Awards ceremony has been an internationally recognised forum for the recognition of innovation, creativity and thematic input in satellite TV channels across the globe.

This year’s nominees were selected by an international jury of journalists and media experts who considered a record 131 channels from 17 countries, broadcasting through Eutelsat satellite, of which HITV is one.

Nigezie and hinolly’s nominations in the Lifestyle and Cinema categories could not have come at a more appropriate time than now when HiTV is blazing the trail in the area of creativity, originality and thematic consciousness in its programming content.

There is no gainsaying the fact that these two channels are in the forefront of the promotion of the rich culture, music and lifestyle of the peoples of Nigeria, the continent and Africans in the diaspora.

The very best of Nigeria’s indigenous movies on hinolly are up for showcase and stiff contention from rival channels such as- Propeller TV and Sky Cinema 1 in its bid to claim the award in the Cinema category.

Nigezie on the other hand would battle it out with Alice, Fashion TV and Turkmax for the award in the Lifestyle category.

It is worthy to note that this is the first time a Nigerian or African channel is being nominated for the Hotbird Awards. The two channels nominated; hi nolly and Nigezie are largely Nigerian content channels and also built and packaged by Nigerians on a Nigerian owned platform.

The channels are being launched on the Sky platform in the UK having received Ofcom approvals recently. The channels will also be launched across platforms in Europe and the US in the very near future.

The Hot Bird TV Awards will take place in Venice, Italy on November 14, 2008.

patience,i guess u dnt undastand wat soon means in hitv's dictionary.dont u knw d time they have been promising us sentata,kidsco e.t.c,we r tired of waiting.the already signed ones are not yet added talkless of d ones they r just having talks with.a movie channel on hitv looks feasible in 2010 or rather maybe its vision 2020

on ur point two abt talks being on with top movie channel,afta talks with them it wud then take 1 yr to upload this channels.we all knw the number of channels u guys have in d waiting room(kidsco,sentata,animemax e.t.c)

hitv service is really bad and the complaint here has voiced out d problem thousands of Nigerians using there services have with them.the onlt thing keeping me with hitv is because of ourfriend "urfriend".u r doing a good job urfriend but hitv needs to step up

i am in ile-ife osun state too and i use hitv but my installer is in osogbo cos i installed when there was no hitv installer in ife,i already copied out ur number and i wud contact u,so glad to finally find someone close to my end on this thread

my decoder version is 2.04 and not 1.04 as i earlier stated,when do u tink the wire upgrade wud be all over NIGERia

OAU RELEASES POST-UME RESULTS IN LESS THAN 72hrs

About seventy two hours after it conducted its Post UME screening, the authorities of OAU, Ile-Ife, have released the results of the exercise.

Olarewaju further states that out of about more than twenty-three thousand (23,000) candidates who sat for the OAU Post-UME screening, in 32 centres, less than seven thousand (7,000) scored 200 marks and above, adding that 200 marks remains the pass mark for those seeking admission to OAU through UME Post-UME, after which each department will now fix its cut-off mark(s) for the admission of students for the next academic session.

It will be recalled that the OAU authorities conducted its Post-UME screening last Saturday, 26th July, 2008 and the results came out three (3) days after. ANOTHER FEAT FROM OAU.ANOTHER RECORD AGAIN.LET OTHER UNIVERSITIES BEAT IT.GREATEST IFE

O.A.U,just won the SIFE NIGERIA competition that was concluded yesterday,they came first amidst 35 different universities and polytechniques and would be representing Nigeria on the world stage for the second time back to back.They came third in the world the last time they represented Nigeria.GREATEST IFE.I think this should show all those beefing Ife that "no be small thing"
