Sacrifice which money? And where did I mention that I wanted it at official rate? If it makes sense to you that the person was quoting higher than black market rate then that's your business. I eventually got from someone else at 250. I'm sure I can find people who will take even less because they didn't buy the dollars. They earned it just like I earned my Naira. Why not have a dom account and have a way of getting inflows into it from outside and pay the sender an agreed exchange rate in Naira to someone he/she appoints. I believe it will be lower than the N280 per dollar Skye is charging you though l know it is not easy getting a sender.

That's the issue o. I don't know anyone abroad to do these transactions with. I also have a dom account with them but no means of funding it. Can you believe I got someone in the US who wanted to send me dollars, when I asked for the exchange rate the hungry eediot said 271/ $. Even Nigerians abroad are exploiting the situation to exchange dollars.

Nigeria is messed up

The same bloody Skye Bank that has been charging N285 per dollar since before Christmas! Armed robbers! Today i was charged N280 per dollar. I guess they decided to "bring it down". Stay away from Skye Bank as much as u can. On top of their paltry $100 per day restriction.

By default Nigerians can be rude and uncultured. That's why many are siding with the maid. They don't see anything wrong in her disgusting behavior. Majority of them have no idea of how to behave decently. They love to take sides with the so called underprivileged even when they are wrong. U will not get objective folks here. I've had encounters with maids of my friends, neighbours, boyfriend, inlaw etc. If I notice rubbish behavior, I speak up immediately. Many of these maids are frustrated. They want to be you! They don't see why they're not the madam of the house. I don't subscribe to being too familiar with them but just to treat them with courtesy and pay them well. The maid doesn't have a choice of who to respect. That's her office for goodness sake! Like some said, something or someone is giving her power. I hope she's not messing with a man in that house. Ur fiancee is acting like most men will. They don't want "wahala" so he won't push the issue. It's not easy to avoid someone in the same compound as u. Speaking to ur inlaw wife may not help cos u said they are BFFs. Not sure ur inlaw will help either. Just hope shows her true colours to a guest that they hold in high esteem. Maybe they see you too often so uay benefit from reducing your visits. If anyone asks you, tell them you don't feel comfortable there. And please since ure working and have a shop, urge your fiance to save together with you for a 2 bedroom flat or self contained apartment. Your peace is more important than free accommodation. Nice thread! Well-done Lady Gwyn and others. First time here. @FPLawyer, don't be so sure o. I know of a family back in Nigeria that this happened to in 2010. The wife just upped and left with their child and decided to stay back and 'naturalise' without her husband's knowledge or consent. Long story short, they are now divorced.
@Tope, talk to your wife again. Life isn't always abbey of roses out there. Perhaps there are friends and relatives encouraging her to stay? They may be the first to show their true colours when the going gets tough. Try to make the trip before your visa expires and reason with her. Can she take your child way from you like that?
