The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has suspended the state Women Leader for defending the immediate-past governor Nasir El-Rufai over the recent controversy on the state’s huge debt.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Governor Uba Sani on Friday lamented the high debt profile he inherited from his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai.

Speaking at a town hall meeting on Saturday, Mr Sani said his administration inherited a debt

But the state Women Leader felt strongly about the governor’s remark, saying the governor is treacherous as Mr El-Rufai did everything to ensure his success during election.

“If you say there is no money in Kaduna State, why don’t you resign? Notwithstanding the huge debt burden, he ran from pillar to post trying to get the party’s governorship ticket from Mallam [El-Rufai].

“It is a clear case of betrayal. Mallam did everything for Uba to become a senator and later governor.

“As a senator, Uba Sani is the arrowhead of securing loans by El-Rufai administration. He was deeply involved in that,” she said.

But the APC in a letter co-signed by the state chairman and secretary Ali Maishago and Zakka Bassahuwa respectively, the party suspended the woman leader for defamation of character of the governor.

The letter reads: “The Badarawa/Malali Ward APC Executive Committee after due deliberations and careful examinations on the viral video clip released on 30th March, 2024 via social networks; Facebook, Whatsapp, and Tiktok which is against the constitution of our dear party APC as stated in article 21.2 (v).

“In view of the above, below are the gross misconducts where the subsequent suspension relied upon:

“Deformation (sic) of character of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State Malam Uba Sani.

“Unauthorized publicity of the party dispute that discredited the personality of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.

“Furthermore, from today Sunday 31st of March, 2024, the leadership of APC Badarawa/Malali Ward unanimously resolved to suspend Hajiya Maryam Suleiman (Mai Rusau) from the Party pending the further investigation on the matter from the constituted authority.”

The @PoliceNG continues to misuse its powers to suppress free speech by colluding with pastors, GOs, entertainers, politicians, and the highly connected. I condemn this high-handed, reckless, inhuman, unjust and illegal police conduct and urge the @policeng authorities to release @thatverydarkman and @IjeleSpeaks2 with immediate effect. The @PoliceNG must continually be reminded that this is how it rode itself into #EndSARS, a mass action that nearly consumed the Nigerian Police Force. No one has a right to suppress free speech under the guise of illegality.

Four persons have been confirmed dead following a clash between Hausa and Fulani residents in Sokoto State, Northwest Nigeria.

The incident happened on Saturday at Jimjimi, in the Gudu Local Government Area, near Nigeria/Niger Republic border, according to the council chairman, Umma Maikano.

"A few days before the ill-fated day, some members of the Hausa farming community went to the bush but unusually could not see a single Fulani in their settlements. Surprisingly they began to hear gunshots from all angles.

"I won't take sides with either of the warring parties. My duty as political head of the local government area is to protect the lives and property of all. But I'm aware two persons were killed on both sides," Maikano said.

SaharaReporters learnt that the crisis started over a land dispute between Fulani herders and Hausa farmers.

A herder who spoke on condition of anonymity said, "Last Wednesday, Hausa people returned from the bush to find out that two of their brothers were missing. They suspected Fulanis and blamed us for their disappearance.

"Looking at the situation and considering what might follow, our leader instructed us to vacate our settlements. But before we did that, they (Hausa people) stormed our place last night, set fire to our makeshift rooms and killed two of our people.”

“We have since reported the matter to the local government chairman," he added.

SaharaReporters learnt on Monday that negotiation was ongoing to broker peace between the warring communities, according to the council chairman.

When contacted for comments, the spokesperson for the state police command, ASP Rufa'i Ahmad could not confirm the incident.

He told our correspondent on Monday (today): "I'm not in town, give me some time to verify the matter and get back to you."

However, he had not got back as of press time.

The Cybercrime Act is a problem.

It empowers any rich person who has been dragged on social media to use the police against the people who dragged him.

If it is not struck down ASAP, many Nigerians will suffer as rich people realise how much power this law has given them.

I have faced coordinated attacks based on lies, yet I am telling you that the Cybercrime Act is a problem. It can be used against you even if you're telling the truth. The court may exonerate you eventually, but you will have a mountain of legal bills and trauma to deal with.

APC rewarded you for your valuable betrayal to PDP. You were even flown to Paris. Why are you still here openly telling lies? What more is there for you to gain?

1. People’s opinions on issues are personal and should not be bent via attacking their source of livelihood. That was the bane of my tweet with Pooja’s now deleted tweet.
2. I did not promote reprisal attacks by the military, rather I asked the military to work with adults in the community to fish out the killers as “dem don buy market”. Multiple comments in that thread afterwards, reiterated that I did not support Pooja’s position.
3. If you want to be dishonest to state that I ever asked for your number in the DM to appear important to your minions, for the record you came asking for my number.
4. I have never spoken to you, know what you sound like or even heard your voice as a human being. When you want to discredit people, make sure you are ready to defend your position with facts. As they say, Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
My work in building and supporting everything about this movement is public record, so leading this army of noisemakers screaming he is compromised or a mole has become a fool’s adventure.
If you want to lead a bandit of online trolls to make yourself feel good, more grease to your elbows.
