How is this even a justification for the low salaries that lecturers at federal Universities are given?

Am not say they are paid higher, am saying that their work is less stressful compared to their fellows in private schools. Again, as a federal university lecturers, they are still called teachers, don't come here to talk as if they are more than others in teaching field, if we are talking about those that needs salary increments more, we should be talking about those private schools teachers, this is because they do more that the so called lecturers you are talking about.

Inside that N124,000 there is house allowance, etc. Don't argue with me, I am in the system. Have you heard about EAA before? If the union you belong to don't push for it, that means you guys don't know your right as workers under federal sector. It is your right to receive allowances as federal worker, Some workers in private sector get allowances talkless of federal government. It will be delayed if the union you belong to don't know their right. You might want to argue on this but the fact is that you are been cheated if you don't receive allowances, how did they want you to survive.

Bros lecturers care like their life depend on it! 90% of lecturers depend 100% on they salaries and other benefits paid by the employer (university or government). That's why ASUU tired all the lobbying, politics, diplomacy, which all fail, before they finally went on the strike to get this EAA among other long benefits withhold by govt. But what do people say, ASUU is bad!

Anybody telling you that ASUU is bad should first placed himself or herself in such condition. If ASUU can stand on their ground and don't allow what people say to get into them, their aims will be achieved, but in most cases, they allowed pressure from both the people and the government to get into them. It is the right of the workers to get allowances. It just because we don't know our right again as citizens that is why such things continue to happen.

The last money released by Buhari for EAA payments was for back logs from 2011 to 2013 (January). Most of people employed from 2013 February till Dat never received anything as EAA.

Your union are the ones that supposed to fight for this if they really care, am sure majority of those in your union don't care because some of them have other sources of income. There is no way you can survive with salary alone in this present condition we are into.

A friend of mine that got state teaching job received her first allowance after six months of working apart from her salary. Your allowances might be delayed doesn't mean it will not be paid, if your union really care about your well-being, they would have start pressuring those incharge.

what allowances are you talking about? The only allowance that they were supposed to get is earn academic allowance (EAA). And to the best of my knowledge it has not been paid for more than 2 years.

Thank God you admitted that there is something called allowances, whether it has been paid or not doesn't mean they won't pay them. Don't get me wrong, am not saying they are paid well, but when compared to those private schools teachers, you should know that theirs is a little bit ok.
