Politics › Quit Notice: Arewa Youths Driving Nigeria Into Another Civil War – Igbo Groups by Nne5(op): 5:32pm On Jul 30, 2017*. Modified: 6:19pm On Jul 30, 2017 |
Igbo Civil Society Coalition, ICSCO, a group made up of Igbo activists, civil society organizations, professional bodies, faith based organizations and town unions have accused Arewa youths of allegedly driving Nigerians into another civil war with their hate speeches.
The group, therefore, urged the Federal Government to avert the ugly situation.
They also appealed to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to withdraw its threat to scuttle the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
These were contained in a communiqué issued after its general congress in Enugu weekend.
The communiqué jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Prof Obasi Igwe and Convener Mazi Ikechukwu Bismarck Oji, read, “The Igbo Civil Society Coalition, a coalition of Igbo activists, civil society organizations, professional bodies, faith based organizations, town unions, among others, held its monthly general congress in Enugu and after due deliberations resolved as follows:
“Constitution Amendment: that ICSCO is dismayed at the National Assembly’s inability to align itself with the obvious wishes of Nigerians cutting across partisan, ethno-religious and socio-economic lines, which is that Nigeria should be restructured so that there will be devolution of powers from the Federal Government to federating units.
“Therefore, in the interest of national stability and socio-economic advancement of the country, ICSCO appeals to the National Assembly to re-consider its stand on devolution of powers from the Federal Government to the federating units (regions).
“Unless that is done, Nigeria will never be able to attain economic advancement or political stability since the feeding bottle federalism practised in Nigeria today is an aberration and does not make room for the development of the federating units based on areas of comparative advantage.
“Arewa Youths Ultimatum to the Acting President to Arrest Mazi Nnamdi Kanu: ICSCO observes with dismay that Arewa Youths have refused to withdraw the Quit Notice they issued to Ndigbo despite interventions of well-meaning Nigerians, even from their region.
“Rather, they have continued to issue hate speeches, threats and ultimatums. The other time, they asked the Federal Government to declare IPOB a terrorist organization.
“Last time, they descended heavily on the Acting President- Prof Yemi Osibanjo, who despite all his humility and loyalty; they claimed was plotting to unseat his principal-President Buhari.
“Now, they are giving the same Acting President an ultimatum to arrest Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader.
“It is obvious that these youths want to force Nigeria into war at all cost. If not, what is the rationale behind asking for Kanu’s arrest because he is asking for referendum when they insist that there will never be restructuring.
“They should realize that IPOB has the sympathy of a vast majority of Ndigbo as a group, which has stoutly challenged President Buhari’s policy of Igbo exclusion (no longer marginalization).
“Anambra Governorship Election: ICSCO is appealing to the IPOB to re-consider its stand with regards to boycotting the election. Secondly, we appeal to all parties involved to come together as Ndigbo in order to build consensus on the issue to engender peace and unity of purpose in Ala-Igbo (Igbo land).” Lalasticlala http://dailypost.ng/2017/07/30/quit-notice-arewa-youths-driving-nigeria-another-civil-war-igbo-groups/

Politics › Governor Ortom Denies Importing Snakes, Frogs Into Nigeria by Nne5(op): 8:52am On Jul 28, 2017 |
The Benue State government has denied the reports alleging that the consignments containing snakes intercepted by the Nigeria Customs in Calabar belongs to Governor Samuel Ortom.
It described it as another desperate smear campaign by members of the opposition.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Terver Akase Mr Akase said the report published on social media by some opposition elements had once more brought to the fore the sponsored publications to attack the person of the Governor in order to distract him from continued delivery of good governance to the people of the state.
According to him, the original report on the interception of the consignments did not name the owner of the containers.
“That report on the intercepted consignments in Calabar which was skewed and published on facebook by opposition members in Benue State is proof that most of these young men who call themselves opposition on social media are bereft of any idea to help develop their state.
“The cacophony of ridiculous lies they posted claiming that Governor Ortom is the owner of the intercepted consignments is not only false; it is also shameful”, the CPS stated.
Mr Akase said Governor Ortom “has led a revolution in agriculture with numerous initiatives to make the state live the true meaning of its status as the food basket of the nation since he assumed the leadership of Benue State but snake farming is not part of the agriculture programme of the state.”
The Chief Press Secretary stressed that even in his private capacity, Governor Ortom does not own a snake farm and will never encourage anyone to go into the business. http://dailypost.ng/2017/07/28/benue-governor-ortom-denies-importing-snakes-frogs-nigeria/

Thank you op. I think your title should read 'Dear broke slay Queen'
To me,a broke man/lady is one that doesn't have financial standing and has no intention of doing anything about it.
Everyday we read articles written by a set of ladies called slayqueens on how they cant date broke men when they themselves are broke. Personally, I think broke girls should roll with broke guys and vice versa.
Now thing's these girls dont work hard because they believe men should be the saviours that'll liberate them from the chains and shackles of poverty. Now that's not only silly but also embarrassing.
I think its high time ladies learnt to be independent. If you want a comfortable man,you should as well be comfortable.
Same way I wouldn't like a broke man in my life is the same way I wouldn't wish a broke woman on my brother. |

Lagos – A 29-year-old sex worker, Beauty Tagbami, is facing trial at an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly cutting the face of her colleague with a razor blade.
The accused, who resides at a hotel, appeared on a two-count charge of unlawful assault and assault causing bodily harm. Tagbami had entered a “not guilty” plea.
The prosecutor, Insp. Cousin Adams told the Court that the accused committed the offences on July 23 at 2.50 a.m. at Lagoon Hotel in Sari-Iganmu in Orile area of Lagos.
He said the accused and the complainant, Tope Olayinka, had a brawl over “hawking space” and in the process, Tagbami, used a blade and scissors to slash Olayinka’s face and hand.
“Tagbami had warned Olayinka not to encroach on her space where she parades herself for customers and this led to fight between them.”
The offences contravened Sections 172 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O.A. Fowowe-Erusiafe, admitted the accused to a N50, 000 bail with two responsible sureties in like sum.
She adjourned further hearing in the case until Aug. 28. (NAN) Lalasticlala http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/sex-worker-29-slashes-colleagues-face-razor-blade-hawking-space/ |

What really caught my attention on the piece was 'young man trying to find his feet'. For me,any young man trying to find his feet that gets discouraged and frustrated by what people think/say needs a hard knock on the head. If you're trying to find your feet, you should know you'd struggle and it'll take time. There's always pain before gain. But the issue with most people is they think they'd get rich or comfortable in 2 secs. They don't know what hustling means. They're waiting on miracles that will never happen.Claiming things by faith that will never come to pass forgetting that faith without works is dead. They think someone maybe a relative like a rich uncle owes them sth they forget that in life nobody owes anyone shixz$. Believe me no sensible young man trying to find his feet would go into crime. The ones that do crime are the ones that think people owe them sth.The ones that can easily be pushed around. The ones that think some jobs are too demeaning and degrading for them. They see some advices as insults to their personalities. The ones that want it all super smooth and easy. The smart ones hustle it out. They know there has to be pain before gain. They do those 'demeaning' jobs and at the end you see them succeeding. One thing is they are always focused. To all young men out there trying to find your feet,an advice to you.Be focused. You'll make it.Its only a matter of time. Always remember that Dr. Samuel Ortom, the Executive Governor of Benue state was once a bus conductor at Gboko motor park in Benue state, from which he graduated to being a commercial bus driver and later personal driver of a prominent man. Ortom must have loved automatic cars.Reason why he had to give Benue people 'ortomatic wheelbarrows'. Sorry for digressing |
