D9ty7:
Have you ever thought about the stress involved when posting a story online? I have just a few words with you.
1. Repogirl is married with kids from what I heard. How do you expect her to cope with her duties as a wife and mother and still update regularly?
2. Have you ever written a story before or posted a story before? If you have, you will agree with me that typing from your head and posting is a huge task and if you are not in the mood, you will end up dropping a wack update.
3. Repogirl has a life outside Nairaland which is more important than the story she is putting up here. As far as I am concerned, she is the one to decide when to update.
You don't have to go to the extreme. Give her more time and she'll update.
Am sorry if my comment pulled the wrong chords. I meant nothing but peace and patience.
He thought its easy. Writing them is brain sucking, and posting them is time taking.
Poems For ReviewRe: Collaborative Poetry Competition Season One: ROYVER AND KRYSTALXXX WINS!!! by noble4d(m): 1:31pm On Nov 09, 2014
Hallo dear poet, you guys are good, you really made the judges suck their toes.

You all write well but not without little flaws. The body of a poem is the structure, that's the area where most of you failed. Some of the poems submitted were off in areas like grammatical accuracy, and diction. The inclusion of analysis to poetry is highly vital because it enables the readers to understand more of the message passed.

I congratulate the participants who made it to the last round of the competition. The judges are expecting you to work more in areas like structure, diction, and analysis.

Thanks

Can I get a hand with spoken words?. Would really appreciate it!.
Spoken word is a form of poetry that often uses alliterated prose or verse and occasionally uses metered verse to express social commentary.

Traditionally it is in the first person, is from the poet’s point of view and is themed in current events.

This poetry is written and performed for an audience, and tends to demonstrate free flow rhymes, rhythms, word play, poetic phrases and also slangs.

Feel free to ask questions@ Joseph

Yes sir,it is. But it scores only 10 marks. The guys had enough faith in what they wrote. They aren't scared of losing 10 marks. That's the message sir and I don't think it should be a problem from anyone's part.
Thanks sir.

Analysis is not compulsory sir. It just makes us lose 10 marks. I hope I am right.
.Ayamlaykorn
Analysis is necessary cos that alone will convince the judges.

What is wrong? The poet were told to submit a single poem not double. Some even posted their poems without analysis.

mirrored and trijan refrain? huh huh huh

Yeah I love refrains too eg. Terzanelle and Villanelle (even though they can be quite tasking at times)
my fav.s are narrative e.g epic, cowboy, ABC, octavarima, terza/rima and other short forms, and that's cuz these forms takes time to write.
Do you write ballad? Its cool too.

The structure of the poem is what I dislike... I prefer other forms and shy away from the sonnet.
You dey try oooo
yah sonnet is beautiful. most of my written poems are sonnets, and any poems with refrains e.g kyrielle and quatern.
Poems For ReviewRe: One Poem For The Road by noble4d(m): 11:48am On Nov 05, 2014
timpaker:
You're quite right bro. I didn't check the word count before terming it a 'sonnet', I only just checked the Shakespearian style he used and the iambic pentameters. (my bad cheesy)

The word count is what I hate most about it (sonnet).

But contemporary poets tend to flow with the rhyming i.e. ababcdcdefefgg; ababbcbccdcdee or 8 lines of abbaabba/octave and 6 sestet of cdcdcd (I think) scheme while ignoring the syllabic count which are mutually exclusive to separate genres of the sonnet.

I hope you understand moi?
Yah ryt that's y I love sonnets and refrains smiley

I love the Shakespearean sonnet too because of its structure...three quatrains with a rhyming couplet for the last two lines.

AmiableJay:
I really appreciate your constructive criticism. I won't get into the defense to hide the flaws in the poem but the truth is that I'm well aware of all the rules of versification but I deliberately disobeyed them. When I first wrote it I had a normal free verse poem in mind but due to the cuttings and editing I decided to introduce a sonnet within my own convenience.
I'll try to transform it into a conventional sonnet though.
You don't have to disobey the law in the name of creativity, you can be sue for that grin. Sonnet is composed with beautiful form and structure which gives us freedom of words to portray our thoughts and ideas. You can handle words as if you are playing a draft. "Ye poetry doth not snore".
