The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has stated that anyone with proof against the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Association, Musiliu Akinsaya, popularly known as Mc Oluomo, should file a suit of attack against him.

Adejobi made this known in his response to a Twitter user, AjammaS, via his Twitter handle on Tuesday morning.

The tweep, AjammaS, claimed Adejobi and the police failed to protect voters during the election after he demanded people to take MC Oluomo’s remark about Igbo in a viral video as a joke and assured them of safety during the election.

AjammaS wrote, “Sir, you are also guilty, if I may say. This is what you said in the TV interview, and I quote. ‘MC Oluomo threat is a joke, let’s take it as a joke until he perfected [sic] the threat. I urge everyone to go out and cast their votes.”

“Now Nigerians heed to your calls and went out to cast their votes and unfortunately you failed to protect them as you promised. They were attacked by MC Oluomo and his boys, some were murdered, brutalised, blinded, some are currently receiving treatment in different hospitals.”

Responding, Adejobi asked tweep to file an attack case against Oluomo if he had evidence of attacks against him, adding that Oluomo has no immunity.

He said, “You can take the case of attack up with MC if you have a case or evidence of attacks against him. Many people and lawyers, even the deputy gov of Lagos, have said it severally. He has no immunity, so if you have a case of attack against him, take it up.”

“There is no need to pass judgement or do trial on Twitter. Very simple. Many of you just follow others to raise this issue on Twitter.”

The Force PRO had described the threat by MC Oluomo against Igbo as a joke when a video had surfaced online of MC Oluomo threatening Igbo in Lagos State against voting for another political party except for the All Progressives Congress in the state governorship election.

Reacting to the video on Channels TV, Adejobi said, “I saw a video of MC Oluomo with one Mama Chidinma – an Igbo woman – debunking that threat; that it’s not true, it’s just a joke he was making with a particular woman. So, let us take it as a joke, like he said.

“But, nobody has the right and audacity to tell Nigerians not to come out and vote; it’s not allowed and not proper. MC Oluomo has come out to debunk it, so let’s leave it that it’s not true. The Commissioner of Police in Lagos has debunked it and MC Oluomo himself has done the same, so Lagosians should go out and vote for the candidate of their choice.”

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, had said that MC Oluomo, a staunch supporter of the APC, and the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, must be arrested and prosecuted if found guilty of breaking the law during the just-concluded elections in the state.

Although the deputy governor said he was not calling for the arrest of anybody, he said the facts should be examined and “if in truth he (MC Oluomo) has broken the law, he must pay for it.”

Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested for allegedly duping over 50 persons of several lakhs of rupees in Uttar Pradesh, India, police said on Monday, April 3.

A team of Sitapur police arrested the suspects identified as Emanuel Anidke and Uzona Ajij, on Sunday evening, April 2, from Noida.
The accused allegedly contacted gullible targets through social media posing as US nationals who wanted to set up bases in India and were stuck at the airport for clearance of their consignments caught in customs, said the police.

The police said the accused would later seek money from individuals promising them to repay the amount in dollars and would do the disappearing act once they got the help," said Sitapur additional SP (south) NP Singh.

Police said that the two Nigerians were staying in India after their study visa had expired last year and were indulging in crime to make money.

The duo claimed to have duped 50 residents of India staying in different states of Delhi, Rajasthan, MP, Bihar and Maharashtra.

The Sitapur police had got on the case after local constable Padam Prakash deployed in Khairabad was swindled of Rs 75,000 by the gang.

Police traced the whereabouts of the caller based on surveillance, local tip-off and the bank where the cop had deposited the money. The person was identified to be from Sikkim.

"We rounded him up and he spilled the beans that he was asked by the two Nigerians to use his bank account for which he was also given commission. A team reached and nabbed the two from Sector-18, Noida," said a source privy to the probe.

The Nigerians use bank accounts of those from the North-East because they have names resembling theirs, said the police.
In his complaint to the police, constable Prakash said that he got a friend request on his Instagram account by a businessman named Frank from Houston in US in January 2023.

After Prakash confirmed the request, he disclosed that he was a native of the United States and wanted to settle in India.

"Over a period they became good friends and on March 17, I received a call from Frank that he had arrived at Delhi airport carrying a lot of US dollar bills, for which a clearance fee of Rs 75,000 had to be paid, to the customs," Prakash said in the complaint.

Later, Prakash said that he got a call from an Indian number, and the caller who identified himself as a customs official told him that his friend needs to be given Rs 75,000 for a clearance.

"I was so assured that I paid the amount and thereafter, the account and the phone numbers got blocked," he said. Sensing foul play, I informed the cyber cell and got an FIR lodged," he said.

On March 6, the Noida police had busted a Nigerian gang of six people who were operating from a call centre and were cheating women through dating apps.

Superintendent of police, cyber cell, Triveni Singh, who has been working on the Nigerian gangs for the last decade said that gangs make their profile on social media posing as American citizens.

"They have developed a trick to dupe Indian citizens by forging emotional bonds and winning the trust of gullible victims they meet on dating and matrimonial apps," said the officer.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya has warned that neither IPOB, ESN nor any other group, groups or individuals should threaten the integrity of the nation as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria noting that “the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections across the country including in the South East despite the sense of insecurity created by criminal elements in the region, is a testament to our resolve to ensure security in the entire Nation”.

He spoke against the backdrop of threats long before the actual elections by IPOB/ESN and their supporters who had threatened that there would be no elections in the Zone.

Speaking at the opening of the Chief of Army Staff First Quarter Conference at the Command Officer’s Mess, Abuja, the COAS said, “Let me state here that elections or no elections, neither IPOB, ESN nor any other group, groups or individuals should threaten the integrity of this Nation as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I must commend you all for your adherence to all guidelines and implementation of decisions taken during last Year’s Annual Conference as evident in our professional conduct and apolitical disposition during the just concluded general elections. Your strict adherence to my directives and guidance in this respect is quite commendable.

“The efforts by the Army Headquarters to go round formations to deliver lectures on “Introspection of Past Experiences and Efforts at Improving NA Support to Op Safe Conduct 2023” are also noted to have yielded desired outcomes.

“I am proud to say that various groups, organizations and distinguished individuals have commended our troops’ efforts during the 2023 General Elections.

“Accordingly, elections were therefore held in the South East and successfully too, just like other parts of the country. Generally, our operations and decisive actions against the criminal elements have impacted positively on the security situation in the region, giving confidence to law-abiding citizens in the South East.

“The peaceful conduct of general elections across the country including in the South East despite the sense of insecurity created by criminal elements in the region is a testament to our resolve to ensure security in the entire Nation.

“This was made possible through the successful conduct of Operation Safe Conduct 2023 across the nation which saw the Nigerian Army along with the other Services and Agencies ensuring successful General Elections.

“Our additional efforts through Joint Task Force Operation Udoka paid off in the South East thus ensuring successful Elections in the region as well, even though, long before the actual elections, IPOB/ESN and their supporters had threatened that there would be no elections in the Zone.

“Accordingly, elections were therefore held in the South East and successfully too, just like other parts of the country.
