Family / Re: Is "daddy" Just Another Word? by NoFearNYC(m): 4:02am On May 27, 2009
slightly confused here.

Are you trying to say that most men are really just abusive sperm donors and don't really understand what it means to be a  loving parent?

I think that's what the OP is trying to say, but I might be wrong.

I happen to love my father just the way he is. He doesn't abuse my mother and is a loving husband and father. However, I also understand that he is only human, like anyone else, and will make mistakes.

I know what is considered the norm in some families, I find abusive and disgusting, BUT, there are good Nigerian fathers out there. Women also need to realize, that a man can only treat you how you allow him to.
Religion / Re: Atheists And Nigerians by NoFearNYC(m): 1:14am On May 27, 2009
To answer the original question, I'm sure many Nigerians will not understand or agree with Atheists and a large percentage will probably look down on you. Of course, it will be done In Jesus Name.

Our culture seems to celebrate religious fanaticism, so people tend to get unnecessarily worked-up and emotional.

Personally, I don't look down on anyone, we are all entitled to our beliefs. Besides, that would be so unchristian, which many Nigerians tend to forget, conveniently, In Jesus Name.

Now, would I choose an Atheist as a lover or spouse? No, I wouldn't, because being spiritually grounded is one of the values I look for.
Religion / Re: Was the Love between King David and Jonathan Homosexual? by NoFearNYC(m): 1:01am On May 27, 2009
Interesting question - I guess we'll never really know, seeing as they are both dead.

Sounds like there was some serious man love going on though. Wouldn't be so strange, there have always been gay men, so why not David & Jonathan with all that kissing and exceeding?

Why do people get so worked up about stuff like this? This NL forum is a trip

I have one thing to say: YOU BETTER WORK!
Family / Re: My Friend Caught His Mother And His Friend On His Father's Bed by NoFearNYC(m): 12:34am On May 27, 2009
Na wah ooooooooooooooo - How Mama Got Her Groove Back

If he feels his father should know, then he should make his mother tell her husband. Their marriage is probably a sham, like many anyway. Papa is probably banging the sister's friend, or housegirl - only he hasn't been caught on the matrimonial bed. Something ain't right in that household.

This story is not that uncommon. My friend's mom flew in to NYC from Lagos for her daughter's birthday and was caught in bed with her legs up in the air - with her daughter's man.

So, no be only Jerry Springer - they should all be on NaijaMomsGoneWild.com
Family / Re: I Hate Any Form Of Housework And I'll Work My Ass To Hire A Maid by NoFearNYC(m): 12:15am On May 27, 2009
Chuck Bass na wah o - take a chill pill. Na wetin now, ur mama abandon you?

@ poster - do you baby, as long as you find a compatible man. Besides, all you said was you hated doing these things, not that you couldn't. If you can afford a maid or 2, more power to you, just remember that most men like a meal cooked by their lady/partner/lover/wife/ every now and then.

Why are people calling you lazy, so work outside the home is not valued? Abeg get ur maid jo, who no like housegirl!
Just remember - compromise is great for relationships.
Computers / Re: Starcomms Izap - Is It Really Fast As Starcomms Claim? by NoFearNYC(m): 4:49am On May 26, 2009
Thanks a lot for your input.

50k(Naira) a month is workable(even though that's like 8 times the cost here), but $2000 just sounds crazy. I guess if there's no other choice, what can you do? Damn, that's a mortgage payment for some people here - have to totally reprogram my brain.

The GPON fiber network sounds promising, though. Have to take all this into consideration, as far as finding a house goes. The prodigal son might have to wait 'til 2010!

Glad I came to do some research here first. I have to keep up with what's going on in Naija, we hear so many conflicting things.

This thread has been very insightful, but surprising and confusing as hell.
Can't believe what u guys are paying in Naija  - much more than here.

I might have to rethink this few months in naija thing. I need real broadband without download restrictions for 1 of my businesses to survive. I was looking into getting a house in VGC - anyone know what's reliable there and what speeds? I wasn't expecting the 300Mbps minimum(wireless, much faster wired) I'm used to, but this is an eye-opener.

Any advice would be appreciated. OK, It's going to cost a lot more, even for what u guys are getting, but is there any way to get real high speed internet service ANYWHERE - whatever the cost? The plan was Lagos and Abuja, but I can be based wherever I can work(meaning fastest ISP).
