Kennyinusa:You can build a business but the point still remains that the more exposure your app / business app gets the more customers / clients that will come your way. At the end, business is about profiting make. |
Flat, clean and attractive UI. Well done Elvis. Please focus now on getting downloads that is what counts if you want to make money. Good luck and all the best with your app. |
Well done @nnamdiosu I am glad that you have taken the first step to publish your first android app. Although you do not have the best of UI but you can think of working on it as you gather more experience on interface design or you can seek help from your friends that are good in UI design. Observation 1 The View list of Blogs is not working properly. I added my android programming blog (www.inducesmile.com) and it was not able to load correctly when I wanted to view it. I will also suggest that you categorize the blog listing rather than viewing blogs in different categories together. Observation 2 If you are planning to make money from this app, I do not see much potential the way it is now. Even if you have huge downloads your ad revenue will still be small. You can add Admob Interstitial Ads and think of the best ad placement position within your app. I will not like to talk more about this because it is better you focus on marketing your app and getting downloads before thinking of making money. Final Suggestion Please focus on promoting your app. Try to get some backlinks, post it in different blogs and forums. I have checked and it seems that the keyword Blog and hub are not competitive in the Play store so you have high chances of getting organic downloads and growth. You can send a guest post about your android app and I will help you publish it in my android programming and tutorial blog. Also you can contact Kelvin the owner of AndroidPortalNg.com blog and ask if he can publish your app on his blog platform. Remember to let your friends know and don't feel shine to talk about your app. Some people will trash your app or pass harsh criticism, just focus on the positive and take the important criticism. Don't waste your time and engage on unnecessary argument even when you feel that someone wants to bring you down rather use the time to keep improving your app. I wish you all the best through your journey in android development world. |
itcolony:Yeah, you are welcome to the world of App business. I published my new app last month and I have got just more than 1000 downloads. I hope it will grow. There is so much competition in Google Play Store. I have downloaded your app and it looks good. Try and push it as much as you can. This is my personal opinion - you can take it or leave. I personally focus on the business side of app. I have made a lot of money from my apps and there is so much to be made even now. Focus on marketing your app as much as you can because your app success is dependent on downloads. You will come in contact with people who will tell you that your app UI does not look you. Please do fall the victim of trying to create the best UI for now. There are many beautiful apps in Google Play that get less than 5 downloads per day. Please put all your energy in let people know about your app and to use your app that is only what will make it successful. After it starts getting organic downloads then you can think of improving the UI. All the best with your app |
This post is not based on bias but what I have come to find out. I have worked / employed the services of Nairalanders in different paid projects. One thing I have realized is that all the female Nairalanders I have worked with are good with what they do, hardworking and always exceed my expectations. But I would not say the same for Male Nairalanders. My experience is not as good as with Female Nairalanders. Most male Nairalanders focus on the money than what they should work on. You can share your own personal view? Please this is not a thread for gender war. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=inducesmile.com.completeorganicchemistry&hl=en |
ocboy:Ok, you can send me message on tosca207[at]gmail.com so that we can talk more about it. |
ocboy:What kind of app do you want to develop? |
ocboy:You want to develop an app or you want to learn app development? |
@FinApps, are you developing free app in BB world or paid apps? Yes, competition is very high in Play store compare to BB world and app discovery is Google Play is worst than BB world mainly because of the huge amount of apps in Play Store. Just like @lordZOUGA said, right now in Google Play you app has to be extra-ordinary before it can rank and get downloads very well. One thing I don't like in Play Store (Personally) is that big companies use huge advertisement money to make sure that their apps are retained in top ranking position. Some buy up to 10,000 installs every day. This is a disadvantage to indie developers |

https://toscanyacademy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/nigeria.png I have reasons why I started this topic and beside I have talked with some Nigerian education mobile app developers and they acknowledge the existence of this problem. Whenever a new foreign mobile app goes viral, Nigerians will join the trend and in some case, we will download the application even more than the country it originated from. When it comes to Nigeria made app, most people will look in a different direction and some will try to bring the developers down. From my personal experience, I recently develop a Chemistry Android App called Classic Chemistry (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=inducesmile.com.completeorganicchemistry). This app is targeted to Nigeria Students studying or planning to write chemistry exams like WAEC. Since I published this Classic Chemistry App in Google Play Store, I have had downloads from India, United States, United Kingdom and other countries but not much from Nigeria. The app has received 5/5 in review. I have also received wonderful emails from users in different countries telling me how much they love my app and how it has helped them in their studies but not any from Nigeria. After talking to few other mobile app developers, I come to the conclusion that these five reasons are the contributing factors why Nigerian students are not appreciative of Nigerian made Education mobile apps. 1. Nigerians prefer foreign mobile apps than Nigeria made apps 2. Most Nigerians have the illusion that mobile apps made by Nigerians are of low quality. 3. With Education apps, most Nigerians do not like reading because there are many ways to pass exam. 4. Sheer lack of money to pay for Data bundles 5. They prefer charting, 'Facebooking” than studying. Please if you feel that something is missing, feel free to add yours |

jandukun:SEO means Search Engine Optimization. In my understanding, I focus on targeting a keyword that is related to my app content. I make sure that my app title and description reflect on the keyword. I also try to get as many back-links as possible. I also post my new app in my blog and Nairaland. |
@ballantyne What happened to your android web server app? You said something about direct advertisement. How is it going? |
jandukun:I basically focus on Google Play SEO and app optimization. For me spending money on advertisement is something that I haven't done since I don't know if a new app will do well. I also focus on create apps that are rich in content and fulfill a need for the users. It is also important for us to understand that Google Play is highly competitive and most apps disappear with limited download. Do let me know if you have more question |
thewebcraft:Thanks |
