Peace Corps Of Nigeria Bayelsa state Command received King of Nollywood today





The king of Nollywood Elaweremi P Elaweremi paid Peace Corps of Nigeria Bayelsa state commandant a solidarity visit as part of activities marking her 22nd anniversary.

The Nollywood actor who is popularly called the king of Nollywood commended the commandant for the extra ordinary leadership role played in ensuing peace and tranquillity is in place especially the way and manner they operated at the popular tombia Round about recently Bayelsa state.
The Corps shared Nose masks and hand sanitizers among so many other things to market women both at the popular Tombia etegwe market, Swali Market and Okaka Kpansia Market in the Yenagoa Metropolis as part of the Covid19 Pandemic.

Elaweremi prayed for the Peace Corps of Nigeria to be fast put in place to assist other security agencies to permanently restore peace in Nigeria.

In his response the Bayelsa state Commandant Michael ware-ebi Ogbomah was overwhelmed receiving the Nollywood actor with hundreds of Quality Movies stressing that his visit will further strengthen the coexistence between the entertainment industry and the Corps.

The entertainment industry which is the largest employers of labour in Nigeria is one very important sector using both movies and music to preach peace in the Country and beyond.

Commandant Michael ware-ebi Ogbomah Carefully explained some of the Aims and objectives of the Peace Corps Of Nigeria which include:

to enlist, mobilise, train, orientate and provide gainful employment for the youths in order to develope them as supporting agents of social order, by providing a second line of public safety.

He said it is to serve as a think -tank and engage in educating residents of every community on security and safety measures peculiar to their neighborhood;

The commandant also said that it is to uphold a bottom-up surveillance through monitoring and observation and to detect, collate, analyse and transmit intelligence data on matters that may likely cause breach of peace and security within the neighborhood; and transmit same to the appropriate security agency for pre-emptive action; also to engage in peace education, Mediation and conflict Resolution in order to advance the cause of peace-building, Reconciliation and Conflict Transmission in all communities in Nigeria.

Members of the APC Youth Mass Movement from different LGAs among various communities have joined other well meaning youth bodies in solidarity to call on the Director General of the APC Youth Mass Movement in the state, who also doubles as former Coordinator of the PDP Youth Alliance of the state, former Director Direct Labour Agency, Dr. Solomon David to run for the vacant Senate Seat of the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District.

They added that the Director General who is from Southern Ijaw Local Government Area with the largest political support group in the state coupled with his unprecedented political track records will no doubt, tackle most of the challenges at the national level and can make an effective representation at the National Assembly. Could you introduce yourself?

My name is senibo ebitimi ogoniba. I am a comedian and also an on-air personality with Silver bird Rhythm 94.7FM yenagoa Bayelsa state. I am fully into entertainment.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, although I didn't grow up in brass.

Which of the universities did you graduate from?

I graduated from the prestigious Niger Delta University.

They said you are the Highest paid Comedian in the Niger Delta Region. What is the secret?

It is God and not me.


What was growing up like?

Growing up was fun as in our normal lifestyle then. Even though we didn’t get everything we wanted as a village boy, I can say we got the things we needed hence I won’t be here today talking to Nolly TV Africa news.

When did you discover your talent?

I discovered my talent in early 2004, took it as a career in 2010, for me comedy na him chose me because I am a very shy type, somebody who cannot even speak good English then, but when i discovered the comic aspect of my life, things changed for me, because i use to be a very shy person.

What made you pursue comedy?

Passion, I have always loved standup comedy, whatever thing you like, you attract.

What would you describe as your source of inspiration?

God is my ultimate inspiration. Also, life, because life could be serious or funny purely based on your perception of how it is.

Who are those you regard as your mentors for comic performance and business?

I have two mentors in the comedy industry and they are Alibaba and AY. they are my role models but in terms of business I admire them a lot because i am a business man now.

Could you tell us about your relationship with politicians because according to report, you are making so much from political campaigns and they pay you in millions?

For me, like i said, i am a Businessman and what so ever i do i think about the business aspect of it then deliver, because i am good that is why am been contacted at every top well paid functions and they normally pay me well.

Do you compete with anybody in the entertainment industry?

The only competition I have is myself, to be a better version, and to beat my past records. My role models and mentors, Alibaba, basket mouth.

Are you married?

Yes i got married to a woman who is passionate in all i do, infact she is one reason why i love investing my money into good businesses. She is an angel directly from God.

What more should fans expect from you this year 2020?

Fans should expect more work. Amazing and exciting contents from Senibo because my comedy is follow come.

How did you feel when you got your first one million naira alert from comedy job?

Immediately i showed my wife the alert, she shouted Jesus is lord and it was like a dream come true.

Where is your dream stage to perform?

My dream is to stand in a world stage like Oscar

A word of advice for other fast-rising comedians?

Just be yourself and stop competition.
Always believe in yourself, pray to God he will direct you, consistently develop yourself because uptill now i deliberately building myself and today i can stand today i can stand at any stage to crack your rips.

Bayelsa/Kogi Guber: Appeal Court Orders INEC To Respond To APP's Appeal Against Exclusion Within 5 Days

The Abuja division of the Court of Appeal on Wednesday ordered an accelerated hearing in the appeal filed by the Action Peoples Party (APP) against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the exclusion of its candidates from participating in the 2019 governorship election in Bayelsa and Kogi States.

A three-man member panel of the appellate court headed by its Acting President, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, specifically granted the motion for abridgement of time filed and argued by the party.

The said motion was filed on March 30th wherein the appellant sought for the abridgement of time by directing INEC to respond to its appeal within five days.

The party argued that out of the statutory 60 days stipulated for the hearing of the appeal, 30 days have already been spent.

Counsel to the APP Mr Obed Agu added that if the motion for abridgement of time is not granted, it will rob the court of its jurisdiction to hear the appeal as it would become statute-barred.

Ruling on the motion, the Acting President of the court, Justice Dongban-Mensem, who was sitting for the first time after her swearing-in on March 6th, granted the request.

The court, accordingly, ordered INEC to respond to the appeal within five days and adjourned further hearing of the appeal to April 8th.

Earlier, the Acting President charged litigants to be mindful of the coronavirus disease and observe all health protocols governing the conduct of persons in the face of the pandemic as they come to court.

“In view of the perilous times, counsel should make a point of duty not to delay proceedings unnecessarily.

“No filling of frivolous applications,” said Justice Dongban-Mensem.

Excited by this, counsel to APP, Mr Obed Agu said, “I’m amazed that the president is here herself.

“That shows how duty-bound she is. It shows a lot about her dexterity. Any other person would have given excuses over the lockdown.”

The APP had in its appeal marked CA/ABJ/CV/218/2020 against asked the appellate court to abridge the time in the hearing of the case for being statute-barred.

The appeal proper is against the judgment of Justice Ijeoma of the Abuja division of the Federal High Court delivered on February 21st, wherein she held that INEC was right to have excluded candidates of the party (APP) in the governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa States in 2019.

The judgment of the trial court was predicated on the ground that APP replaced its withdrawn candidates outside the statutory period of 45 days to the date of the 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship election.
