PoliticsRe: Expect Knocks On Your Door Whether You Go To Daura Or Niger - Tinubu To Buhari by NonBinary: 8:33am On May 26, 2023
By knocks on his door, hope you realize he meant he'd maintain a line of communication. How about we give all these sentiments and prophecies of doom a rest. A country is only as good as the people in it. The IQ/self awareness or disposition of the average Nigerian hasn't actually reached the point where true democracy can genuinely work. Democracy in it's essence requires citizens to have a certain level of awareness, be capable of a certain level of thinking, some foresight, to be able to thrive. We're still too ignorant, sentimental, religious/tribalistic (which technically still falls under ignorance) to understand that at the end of the day, majority of the things we see as big deals don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Listen, even if Peter Obi won the election, it wouldn't stop religious extremists from burning people alive if they commit sacrilege, because it would be so easy to spark a religious uprising which would kill and displace millions. This is the reality when you're surrounded by people who outnumber you. I know you think he'd swoop in as a Messiah and turn Nigeria into a Utopia, but there are certain realities you people should accept. If the masses remain gullible enough and poor enough to be easily convinced to commit genocide and other atrocities on the basis of religion, ethnicity or politics, then it doesn't matter who the CIC is. It doesn't matter who the President is when the average Nigerian accepts that it's normal to make money when given appointments. Whenever you congratulate people for winning contracts, or getting appointments, or you say stuff like "we will get there one day," do you not understand the psychology behind it? If the right thing is enforced, a lot of you would actually fight the system, because the reality of how an organized society works is not as glamorous as you think. Let me say it again, you guys are just wailing for nothing, the countries we depend on would never allow us to reach self sufficiency, because they need to maintain their ability to fleece us dry. Quite frankly the only way to actually achieve the Nigeria of our dreams would be through a civil war/the emplacement of an iron curtain, shutting us from the outside world and forcing us to develop, which would most likely bring us to a bloody civil war anyway. Understand that the price of fuel being cheap, or the price of market goods not being expensive is not necessarily a good thing in the long run, if your father takes a huge debt which you'll struggle to repay in the future, having money to squander at that present moment isn't enjoyment, it's stupidity.
RomanceRe: How To Know A Man Possessed With Marine Spirit by NonBinary: 9:40pm On May 25, 2023
Lol. Premium sarcasm. It's hilarious how easy it is to manipulate men into a tizzy with just a few words. Haven't you ever noticed women don't actually practice much of what they preach? Women often speak from a perspective of desire or fantasy. Most ladies that make so much noise about only wanting rich guys eventually give in to penniless guys that often take advantage of them. The reality is that the society we live in frowns on females expressing their urges, so while you guys "stay in your line" avoiding ladies that you think are out of your league, some sharp guys out there with fancy haircuts and swagger borrow shoes, clothes, glasses etc from friends, use nice perfume and befriend these highly revered 'big babes' and inveigle their way to their pants when these ladies are vulnerable to their wiles. Most of you are actually better off than the guys laying these babes, you just lack social skills/don't bother to make the effort to look good, because you think to lay a babe you need to be Dangote's nephew.
RomanceRe: Nairaland Singles: Which Of These Can You Accept As A Spouse? by NonBinary:
I wonder if some of you really don't give much thought to these things, or you're just cruel. It's so difficult to see people as human beings unless they're your loved ones/friends. Some of you here, your family may have been so broke at some point during your childhood that your mother had to sleep with the landlord to offset the rent. I'm sure you've heard of ladies sleeping with men to raise money to feed their siblings. Fathers stealing to buy food/drugs for their suffering families. Does this make these people's entire lives worthless?
I'm not supporting vices or immorality, I'm saying sometimes the worth of a person's life cannot be judged from select deeds. That lady you're ridiculing may have abandonment/daddy issues, and is so desperate to be loved that she's willing to do anything to please anybody pretending to love her. That lady you feel is subhuman because she has done abortion(s) may have been raped by different men. Uncles, neighbors, bosses. If your sister is raped by her boss at work, or oga (if she's a house girl or something) would you still be so quick to keep abreast of her body count? while she's weeping profusely, lying on the ground crying her eyes out wretchedly, you'd strike her from the list of ladies worthy of marriage? You don't know people's stories, what they're going through or have gone through, so don't always be so quick to denigrate them.
If you have a personal preference, that's within your right, but doesn't mean anybody who doesn't fit that description is worthless.
I say this all the time, there's nothing wrong with a lady from a humble background struggling to make ends meet hoping to find a man that would be able to assist her financially. That doesn't mean that men that are equally struggling are useless, it just means that's not what she's looking for, and that's fair. The real problem is when we start slapping labels on people who don't fit into our concept of worthiness. Ask yourself this, that person you find irritating for being a talkative, do you know if it is a manifestation of a psychological impediment? Or is the person just a cretin for running their mouth.

Music/RadioRe: Does Tiwa Savage Deserves All The criticism? by NonBinary: 1:58pm On May 15, 2023
Unfortunately the average African does not read and therefore is ignorant of his own history. How can we understand issues when we don't even really know ourselves. We keep raising the issues of slave trade and colonialism, but what we fail to understand is that everything that has ever happened to us and is currently happing to us (the contraption called Nigeria) took place because the so called oppressors succeeded in enticing those in power (who could've stood up to them) with riches and promises of power/dominance over their fellow African brothers and sisters.
That's what both slavery and colonial conquests in Africa boiled down to at the end of the day, getting powerful people who could otherwise have opposed the "oppressors" to see personal gain in cooperating with them.
This is where we still get it wrong till date, rather than analyze issues logically, we use emotional, religious and ethnic sentiments. Before the Portuguese ever charted a course to Africa, we had been engaging in bloody wars for centuries and keeping slaves who were dehumanized and tortured, perhaps even worse than the white men who came along later ever did. To the point where the descendants of slaves in some parts of Nigeria were categorized into their own caste and considered inferior, a custom that was only recently abolished and which still lives on in the minds of some. Yet we make a hue and cry whenever we hear cases of racism in the West, as if such descendants of slaves would be treated better in their own fatherland. Are you people even aware that after the abolition of slave trade, African chiefs/kings protested and insisted that they had already established an economy driven by slave labour and trade and it took the British to coerce our own chiefs/kings to diversify. Are you aware that the so called colonial masters only succeeded in Nigeria because they set the North against the South and kept the South in check by threatening to back the North in it's drive to "conquer" the South. There was no time in history where Europeans ever invaded Africa with a naval force strong enough to overwhelm entire kingdoms at once, they took advantage of our hatred and spite for each other and picked us off one by one, a house divided.
Tiwa Savage did not perform for slave masters or colonial masters, she performed for opportunists, and I don't know about you, but I believe there's a greater curse upon the boy that killed his father than on the outsider that paid the boy to do it.
