Hey Guyz, Just finished the part that was assgned to me, but I'll appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE critisizim cause I have never done this before and the whole point of this exercise is to develop ourselves.

I have the dictionary in the text format already, and I have also downloaded the API (or something I think is it) (@Mobinga) but the docs only explain how to use the methods and classes contained in the API. I like need to see a VERY SIMPLE app written and explained on how to use the API cause I want to tweak the use of the API to suit a particular purpose and I cant do that without understanding at least the basics. @Fay, could u do a brief sample of a spell checker for me with explanations - I know ur gud with those kind of stuff. Would appreciate.

Hey, am trying to integrate spell checker with and application in Java and I heard about the Jazzy API but I don't seem to understand the explanation from all the resource materials I have seen, It's like once the coding starts they just take 5 GIANT leaps and I just get lost. The application remains the same regardless of the way it is accessed. Local or remote access is just that: - an interface to an application. Your core application remains the same regardless of the view. The business objects should not be coded any differently.

I propose we leave different views in, gives an opportunity to work on some new technologies.

Hello, I know that feeling when you just want to learn everything but truth be said, you cannot combine CCNA and programming at the same time unless u dont plan (in my opinion) while programming can be adopted a an everyday skill. And I'll gladly be available to coach you online. I kinda have a few things up my sleeves.
By the way, I use Java, VB.NET. I also have basic skills in C, C++ and Android. You should google these languages up but I'll advice C/C++ for beginners.

Simply a basic knowledge of how a system works. i.e. Applicant should not be dumb founded when told that a system would send it's data to a server when connected to a LAN cable.
Just a rudimentary knowledge. On the job training would be administered since the application is perculiar to the operation.

am working of an app and part or the funtionality is that it should be able to list all files on your drive (I'll do the file filter myself).
amd I need help with that regard.
The main thing is that it should transverse directories and sub directories in that directory and so on until it gets to a point where there are not more sub directories. Am using Java. This is really urgent.

I could cook up something, what exactly do you want it to be like?

From the way you sound, I can depict that it's not meant for but if you really want to learn, you've got to be ready to devote time and brain power to it, and you can't learn programming in one week cause you first have t start thinking like the computer before and of the syntax make meaningful sense; except you want to write programs to add two numbers together or to say hello world,

You saying you don't want to read any book is where you got it all wrong. People replying to your posts here wouldn't really help you. NOt that they are saying crap but you also need to understand whats going on. Now take a look at you second question. You have already been told /taught how to do it but you don't know how to bring up the story.

Analysis and Design isin't all about 1 post or 2. you need to start from the beginning. Go back to what you are running away from, A BOOK. You need a good book to fully understand these concepts. Its just like getting a plan for a building. you can't tell me that a post on nairaland would make you an architect. Absolutely NO FORUM on the internet can make you an architect. They can only help you wile you are learning or help you with little challenges you are facing.

Don't know if i made some sense here but in essence, go get articles and books related to system analysis and design. READ THEM.

I am not against books but I just don't think an whole course on Information System Analysis and Design ( books that average 600 pages) is necessary for a mini project thats not going past systems that I would test them on.
Sure, when it get really serious I would have to read something or even take a course on it but let me remind you that am still trying to bring my programming up to a certain level and I don't think I can combine both together,

Let me just share from my personal experience i guess it might help.

1. The first step is what I call the story, a kind of description of what the system is about, this mostly gotten from the person that wants the system. You get this in many ways from interviews, group study, observation etc.
Once you get the story right is important you write it down in a notepad.

2. The second question is what are the object(domain objects of the user story) There is a simple way for me, looking at the story that I have written I underline all the NOUNS,  thats where I get the domain of that project, you do elimination of the once that are repeated and with your own reasoning make out your initial objects.

3. Users of the system(you have to be careful here) I do not mean users in number, This is user scenario or roles. who and who will be using this system in terms of what they can and can not do. example in a simple office application , we can have the data entry people ( they will just enter data into the system) and we will also have administrator that will view reports and create users.
So in this system we have two basic users
1. Data Entry Users
2. Administrators.

4.  Use Case: This is the interesting part of the project and to me the most crucial.
    you ask questions what exactly will the data entry staff be adding?
    How do they add that?
    After adding what  next?
    Eg  A data entry staff will have
          1. Login
           2. Click on Add Customer button
           3. Enter Customer information( name, address, phone and email)(detailed u have to get this information)
               ( A customer can not be added twice in the system)[business logic]
           4. Click Save
         
This is a simple use case for Add Customer work-flow, you can have tens or thousands of use cases depending on what you are building.
looking at this you can pick out the following methods that you will write in the application
    Login  Functionality
    Customer CRUD functionality with business logic taken care of too.

5. You re-factor and refine your objects and will get most methods/functions from the user case.

This is a brief, you will learn more with practice and reading.

Am a programmer at the intermediate level and I would really love to embark on projects to strengthen my grounds but the issue is that each project I embark on, I always leave uncompleted because I always realise that I did not include somethings from inception; in other words, am inadequately prepared. Could someone pls help me with Systems analysis and design?

Well I think I'll agree with the OP to some extent because it's because of the way marriage has been handled that leaves a lot of unnecessary pressure on people now. But @OP for a person to not get married means that he/she is ready to live a life of celibacy which would be VERY DIFFICULT considering the fact that we are all human beings,

Does he sleep in the jet or did u hear that he used it to go for a party?

What about politicians who buy private jets out of affulent living without proper use for them don't we call them christians. So I don't get how u guyz could be so narrow in ur thinking especially when it comes to men of God.
