Religion / Unholy Alliance Between Nigerian Pastors, Politicians And Criminals by Nowujeda(m): 5:56pm On Aug 23, 2018
I had a discussion recently with someone on the state of things in Nigeria and how religion has contributed to getting us where we are today. He mentioned something that got me thinking. He said many big churches in Ile-Ife are owned by professors and lecturers of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). For those who don't know, Ile-Ife is an ancient city located in Osun State. OAU, one of the best, if not the best university in Nigeria, is in this city.

Nigerian Christian professors are no longer satisfied instructing students in class, conducting research and publishing scholarly papers and books, they also want to be pastors. The professors are not the only ones guilty of this. Our royal fathers are also getting on the bandwagon. Two royal fathers in the Local government I stay are Rev. Pastors. Our Politicians and entertainers are not left behind either. A Nigerian female senator from the south-west and a very popular nigerian DJ and music producer were recently ordained assistant pastors. We can go on mentioning high profile Nigerians who recently became pastors but this write-up is not about that; it is an attempt to unravel the craze for ordination in Nigeria.

Why does everybody wants to be a pastor?
Those mentioned above and many others running for ordination cannot even function well as pastors because who they are and what they do will not give them the space to pastor a church. So, why do they need the title? The craze for "honourary ordination"is gradually meeting up with the craze for honourary degrees in our dear country. A particular Nigerian Church is notorius for this; ordaining actors, celebrities, influential people, politicians and all sorts of people in the name of wanting to use their resources , facilities and popularity to expand their church. Kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and corrupt politicians are now the ones sponsoring our "ministries" because they have money and facilities we can use to expand. The titles used in church (Rev., Pastor, Prophet, Apostle etc.) are gradually becoming titles for criminals. A prominent Nigerian Cleric, Anthony Cardinal Okogie, said not too long ago that their prayer centres are not churches but business centres. I couldn't agree more. They are money making centres. It is not God's work they are doing. Or, how can we explain the fact that Nigeria has recently taken over as the nation with the highest number of extremely poor people regardless of the fact that Nigerians sow seeds in Church every week. They lie to them that they will become rich by sowing seeds and they believe it. Despite serious and conscious effort in seed sowing however, they are getting poorer while their pastors are getting richer; buying private jets, building private universties and living flamboyant life.

Let it be clear that you are not expanding the kingdom of God but expanding the kingdom of poverty, laziness, ignorance and narrow minded people. It is good to mention here that success comes only through hard work, integrity and steadfastness and not some seed sowing. Thanks to our lazy and evil mentality of seed sowing, Nigeria is the world capital of poverty today.

Trajectories at the end of May, 2018 show that Nigeria had about 87million people in extreme poverty. Not 87 million of poor people but 87 million people in extreme poverty. Yet, we are building more churches to propagate our prosperity gospel. Who are those that this their prosperity god is blessing? Definitely they don't live in Nigeria because, if they do, Nigeria will not be the world capital of poverty right now.
We take stolen money and lie to ourselves that God has blessed us. Or, how do you explain a civil servant paying a tithe of 60million naira to a church in Nigeria. How much does she earn to pay tithe of 60million? Corruption of the highest order in the house of God. There seems to be some kind of collaboration between "men of God" and men of devil. It doesn't matter if people commit crime and steal, as long as the pastors get their share. The testimonies the pastors give are all lies. Their preachings are always about them, how God has blessed them because they sow and how God is using them to bless those who sow in their ministries. They no longer preach Jesus but themselves. They have become small gods that people worship.

Back to the question I asked earlier: why do people desire the title of a pastor so much in Nigeria? For me, they include:
1. To be seen as godly and therefore respected
2. For making money
3. For fame
4. To commit crime and get away with it
5. For respect and relevance etc.
Feel free to disagree with me if you think I'm out of point but do so with superior argument and not some emotional amd sentimental blabbing. We have to start to use our God given brains.

Properties / Yinka Ayefele's Fresh FM Demolition; My Honest Opinion by Nowujeda(m): 4:10pm On Aug 19, 2018
As early as 6:00am Nigerian time on Sunday 19th August, 2018, report has it that 'demolition equipements' were sighted moving towards the Music House. This is expected, as a demolition notice earlier was served on the said building housing the respected Fresh FM owned by Olayinka Joel Ayefele (OJA) on Monday 13th August with three (3) days evacuation period.

The government of Oyo State successfully displayed the power established by the Physical Planning Law of the state by partially demoliton the building as against the Court Order secured by the owner of Fresh FM against the demolition.

While I recognize the government for strictly exercising the provisions of the Physical Planning Law of the state and also refusing to recognise the power allotted to the Judiciary as the third tier of government, I make bold to also recognise the pain of Yinka Ayefele for refusing to follow the path of an average Nigerian who could have made a deal with politicians and the government, a deal which could have been turned into an instrument of blackmail by the successive government and politicians.

Yes! The government demolished Ayefele's multi-million naira radio station, kindly learn from this;

*Obtain all necessary government approvals before constructing any structure.
*If your property is been used for what it wasn't approved for, rectify it today.
*If you can bend the law to your favour today, you might not have the power to sustain it.
*If you are in government today, know that the words 'rectification, regularization and harmonization' exists.

DEMOLITION NOTICE ON FRESH FM IBADAN.

Fresh FM premises in Ibadan was served a demolition notice on Monday 13th August, 2018. This became imperative after several stop work and contravention notices served on the Music House which houses the respected radio station in Ibadan. There is no doubt about it, there are political undertunes to the demolition that is expected to happen tomorrow Thursday 16th August, 2018 (if the notice will stand).

However, it is important to state unequivocally, the deaf-ear many investors and developers have turned to physical planning standards and regulations overtime. Fine, the radio station presently has more than 150 employees under it payroll. Fine, the station has been impactful, enlightening and educative to the people of Oyo State and largely the listeners from USA and Europe. But locating and building such a structure as against the Oyo State Physical Planning Regulations negates all other positive impacts the station could be having on the economic, social and security of lives of the people within and outside the state.

SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM IMPLICATION OF THE DEMOLITION NOTICE.

As at today, Fresh FM Ibadan seems to be leading other 31 radio stations in Oyo State with it fearless and professional attitude to political, social and economic developments in the state. In no small measure, this leading status has pitched the radio station against the government and the ruling party which have been facing political turbulence in the state.

Since the owner have unknowingly created an instrument for clampdown on Fresh FM by building his studio as against planning regulations therefore, the state government will not waste time to judiciously issued the demolition notice to scare the station from speaking against all political views against the government, thereby crippling the professionalism the establishment is known for.

As long as the station continues to broadcast from the Music House with it fearless contents, it will continue to receive likely 'threats and legal blackmail' like this demolition notice. Even if another political party takes over the state, the periodic issuance of demolition notice will not stop.

THE LESSON

The law is powerful, while it can serve as a foundation to achieve your dreams, it can also be used as an instrument by your perceived enemies to run you down no matter the positive impacts you are creating.

Physical Planning Laws can be used against you, fulfill all provisions of the law and feel free to practice your profession with no fear or favour.

Politics / Highest Bidder Will Win Osun Election - Catholic Priest by Nowujeda(m): 7:04pm On Jul 30, 2018
On his Facebook page, Rev. Fr. David Olaniyi bluntly expressed that Osun Guber Election is up for sale.

In his words, Fr Olaniyi said "the one with the highest spending power (Most money) between Omisore(SDP), Adeleke(PDP) and Oyetola(APC) will win the gubernatorial election coming up in Osun State. Don't waste your time and energy in trying to prove me wrong; I'm as sure of this as I'm sure of tomorrow being 31.07.2018. Another thing that I'm sure of is that after the election, the winner will gloat and declare victory for democracy and the people while the losers will moan and complain of being cheated. You won't argue with me on this if you have followed the elections in Ondo, Edo, Anambra and Ekiti. Some things don't change. Do they?"

Looking at my opening statement, some of people might want to ask: "What about campagns, ideas and strategies." The truth however is that the only idea and strategy there is in Nigerian elections of today is how to make your spending (Vote buying) count. Every other thing is just for show. Talking about shows. We were treated to a beautiful show in Ekiti state-From broken neck and "am in pain" saga to democracy has finally won (not minding how the victory was procured). Forgive my diversion. I love shows. Don't we all? What happened in Ekiti in 2014 repeated itself in 2018 except that roles were changed between PDP and APC. Nigerian political parties lack ideological differences. They do the same thing and lie to us about how different they are. Our politicians have figured us out. They are very "smart". What I don't understand is why many of us take them for fools. My article "Blame yourself and not the Politicians" in 2017 got a good review. Those who reacted to it thought it was a good article just that many disagreed with me on the point that "we should not take money and gifts from politicians to vote for them." They reacted by saying: "take the money and not vote for them." What happened in Ekiti has shown the buffoonery in that. Our politicians are not daft. They won't allow you take their money and not vote them. I remeber saying then that "another rounds of elections are coming, begining with Anambra and later Ekiti before moving to Osun. Same lies will be told, same strategy(money strategy) used, same manifestoes rolled out, same gifts shared and same people falling for the tricks again." Anambra and Ekiti proved me right and am sure, Osun will not prove me wrong.

There is no where in the world where people eat their cake and have it. Let's stop trying to do the impossible in Nigeria- trying to eat our cake and have it by selling our votes and expecting good governance after election. Sorry, it doesn't happen that way. If we take money to vote for politicians, invite them to our Churches and celebrations to donate big money and expect them to come to town giving everybody money, then forget about good governance.

In Nigeria of today, it takes billions of naira to win elections because of vote buying and selling. Elections have become huge investments for poloticians. When you invest in a business, you expect to make profits. Isn't it? Our politicians are not to be solely blamed for bad governance. It is not entirely their fault that they steal public money to settle their godfathers and run governance like private businesses. I repeat, we cannot claim to be innocent of the corruption and stealing going on in high places in Nigeria when we always run after politicians for money and undeserved favours. We have no right to complain about the state of governance in Nigeria when we always take money to vote. We sell our inheritance every four years by taking #4,000 and #5,000 to vote. Vote buying and vote selling is bad. It's destroying our country. Don't forget too that it's a crime.

Politics / Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola Resigns From APC, Dumps Party by Nowujeda(m): 10:20am On May 10, 2018
After months of waiting game, the former Governor of Osun State and Acting Coordinator of the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oyinlola was the National Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), one of the blocks in the APC during the 2015 general elections. He was once the PDP National Secretary.

Oyinlola, who is the Chairman of the Board of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), announced his resignation through a letter addressed to the Chairman of APC in Ward 1, Okuku, Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.

The former APC stalwart, whose letter was dated Wednesday, May 9, 2018, said he was leaving the party due to his current politics including his coordination of the CNM.

“My resignation from the APC, therefore, is to enable me contribute more meaningfully to ongoing efforts at repositioning the politics of Nigeria for the good of the Nigerian people,” he said.

Oyinlola had indicated his intention to leave APC at the formal launch of CNM when he spoke about the perceived conflict of interest between his new task and his chairmanship of NIMC board.

Oyinlola had said the both the APC and the PDP have failed and have not been able to meet the aspirations of Nigerians, noting that CNM would mobilise young Nigerians to take over power from the ruling party.

The former governor: “We are trying to be like guardian angels; it is you that must decide who is to do what and at what level. That is why we are having this meeting today and putting it back to you.”

Jacob Odulate, The Man Who Invented Alabukun Powder Over 100 Years Ago Alabukun, one of the oldest drugs in Nigeria and even is still very relevant and popular today. However, not many know the Jacob Odulate aka Blessed Jacob, a Nigerian pharmacist, inventor and entrepreneur and the brain behind the brand that has remained relevant selling in all parts of Nigeria, Benin republic, Cameroon, Ghana and some parts of Europe.

1.Jacob Sogboyega Odulate aka Blessed Jacob was born into a polygamous family in1884.

2.He was originally from Ikorodu in Lagos State but later moved to the neighbouring Ogun State.

3.At age 14, he trekked for three months from Ikorodu before reaching Abeokuta to establish himself.

4. Blessed Jacob managed to create a brand from what served as his consulting room and workshop in Abeokuta. His modest headquarters was at the Sapon Area, not far from where he later built his famous three-storey building in Ijemo Agbadu.

5.In 1918, he invented the legendary Alabukun powder which is now a hit in the world’s most populous nation and in other West African nations.

6.He sent his children to study at some of the best universities in Durham, Newcastle, United States of America and London. e.g Mrs. Folake Odulate (later to become Chief. Mrs. Folake Solanke) who is the first female lawyer in Nigeria to wear the silk and she also became the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). In 1966, she established the first law firm by a Nigerian female at Ibadan, Oyo State and named it Alabukun Chambers in honour of her great father.

7. Apart from making the drugs, the energetic Blessed Jacob also produced other brands like Alabukun mentholine, other preparations and an annual journal called Alabukun Almanac which was widely distributed in Abeokuta and eventually all over Nigeria between the 1920s and 1950s.

8.He died in 1962 at age 78.

Properties / Master Plan; A Physical Development Document. by Nowujeda(m): 9:47am On Aug 30, 2017
Looking at the physical developments in our environment, it baffles me how people build structures and allocate uses to land without in-depth thought and future projections.

Most of our churches, mosques, event centres, relaxation centres and other public spaces are developed without due consideration to convenience, adjourning and future development.

As Africans, we are quick to appreciate well-arranged environment we see in Europe and America either physically or via photograph. We are also quick to make large printout of these serene environment to decorate our homes and offices.

Why can't we have a development policy/document in form of MASTER PLAN to guide developmental projects in our churches, mosques, schools, relaxation centres and other public places rather than site developments sporadically?

Why can't we implement a well designed MASTER PLAN to achieve desired comfort?

Why can't you have a MASTER PLAN for that development you have in mind?

Properties / Who Is An Urban Planner. by Nowujeda(m): 6:44pm On Mar 06, 2017
Urban planners develop plans and programs for the use of land. They use planning to create communities, accommodate growth, or revitalize physical facilities in towns, cities, counties, and metropolitan areas.
WHAT DOES AN URBAN PLANNER DO?
Urban planners typically do the following:
Meet with public officials, developers, and the public regarding development plans and land use
Gather and analyze economic and environmental studies, censuses, and market research data
Conduct field investigations to analyze factors affecting land use
Review site plans submitted by developers
Assess the feasibility of proposals and identify needed changes
Recommend whether proposals should be approved or denied
Present projects to planning officials and planning commissions
Stay current on zoning or building codes, environmental regulations, and other legal issues.
Urban planners identify community needs and develop short- and long-term plans to create, grow, or revitalize a community or area. For example, they may examine plans for proposed facilities, such as schools, to ensure that these facilities will meet the needs of a changing population. As an area grows or changes, planners help communities manage the related economic, social, and environmental issues, such as planning a new park, sheltering the homeless, or making the region more attractive to businesses.
Some planners work on broad, community-wide plans, while others focus on specific issues. Ultimately, all planners promote the best use of a community’s land and resources for residential, commercial, or recreational purposes.
When beginning a project, planners work with public officials, community members, and other groups to identify community issues or goals. Using research, data analysis, and collaboration with interest groups, planners formulate strategies to address issues or meet goals. They also may help carry out community plans, oversee projects, and organize the work of the groups involved. Projects may range from a policy recommendation for a specific initiative to a long-term, comprehensive area plan.
Planners use a variety of tools and technology in their work, including geographic information systems (GIS) tools that analyze and manipulate data. GIS is used to integrate the data with electronic maps. For example, planners may use GIS to overlay a land map with population density indicators. They also use statistical software, visualization and presentation programs, financial spreadsheets, and other database and software programs.
WHAT IS THE WORKPLACE OF AN URBAN PLANNER LIKE?
Most planners work for various levels of government, nonprofits, and planning consulting firms. They work throughout the country in all sizes of municipality, but most work in large metropolitan areas.
Most planners spend much of their time working with others. They often collaborate with public officials, engineers, architects, and developers, and must give presentations, attend meetings, and manage projects.
Because planners must balance conflicting interests and negotiate deals, the work can be stressful. Planners face pressure from politicians, developers, and the public to design or recommend specific plans. They also sometimes work against tight deadlines. Urban planners often travel to sites to inspect the features of the land. Those involved in inspecting development sites may spend much of their time in the field. Most planners work during normal business hours, but many also work evenings or weekends to attend meetings with planning commissions or neighborhood groups.
