I wonder why UKVI changed from TLS to VFS. These VFS guys have put many people in dilemma. Inefficient customer service at its peak. Six weeks student visa application process period without any request for a supporting document. The bigger shock was that UKVI confirmed that a decision has been made when called on 21st January. No word from VFS, no passport, and school resumption deadline was 27th.
This is heartbreaking. |

This is a great news for those of us with bachelor's degree only. You can improve your CRS with NACETEM Postgraduate Diploma and claim Two or more certificates within 10months.
The sweetest part is that you can now attend lectures virtually (Saturdays only) and then appear physically for your exam (OAU Ife) at the end of the semester.
I am an alumnus of this program and I have evaluated my certificate.
I will volunteer to connect you with the program coordinator if you are interested.
NEW SESSION TO STARTS ON SATURDAY 10th JULY 2021. |

Hello Fellow Canagerians
I feel while we wait to be favoured on this journey to Canny, it is good we improve our CRS scores. Many people are facing issues because of 10-15 points. Your CRS score have been 'Canadally' configured to decrease as you celebrate your birthday each year. So, I will advice we take every possible step to improve on our scores.
Some days ago, I lost 5points out of my CRS due to my birthday, but I'm not deterred because I'll be adding much more points in few weeks time as I will be upgrading my academic points from Bachelor's degree to Two or more certificates. Yes! I took the decision to improve my CRS score earlier this year and I'm done with the program.
In January this year, while looking up to heaven for miracles, I took a decision to run a PGD program with the National Center for Technology Management - NACETEM (owned by Federal Ministry of Science and Technology) in order to claim points for two or more certificates. NACETEM run a 9-11months Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Management and it is favourably evaluated by WES. Classes are on Saturdays (10am-4pm).
NACETEM (OAU, Ife Center) will start another session by December, please make use of the opportunity to add 30 more points to your CRS if you're currently claiming points for Bachelor's Degree.
If you're in Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, Ondo or Ogun State, don't be discouraged by the distance. The just concluded session (which I was part) had people who came from Lagos, Ondo State, Oyo State, Abeokuta and Ilorin. If these people could face the fear of distance to claim 30points which would make their CRS swell like gaari ijebu, you can do it too.
You will have to purchase an application form of 10k and pay an acceptance fee of 15k. Tuition fee is 80k. You can pay the tuition fee in installments.
Don't look at time, the day is moving and it will never stop.

adejuwontoni@gmail.com boco2126: On this IELTS issue...my two cents.
1. Stick to a FEW practice materials! The number of materials for IELTS that we see on a daily on this thread can be overwhelming. Try out only a few and stick to the one that resonates with you. Don't use ieltsliz, Jay, Cambridge, ieltsadvantage, road2ielts etc at the same time (some of these peope don't agree on the same approach and reading all can get really confusing). If you try one and it sits well with you, ditch others. Focus on that one and be a master of it. I almost got overwhelmed at some point, because l wanted to open every link or try every material l saw here. But l had to give myself brain oh.
2. Practise everyday. No excuses. Create the time. Even at work, you can use your lunch break to practise. Instead of listening to music or radio on your way to work, listen to your downloaded tips on writing, speaking, reading, listening. When walking down the streets, have an earpiece on (l hate this, but we can make sacrifices for one month abi?) and keep LISTENING. At weekends, practice speaking with your wife/husband, friend, son/daughter etc. Write out questions and tell them to ask you (under exam conditions). I finished a WHOLE 30 leaves notebook for listening practice (yeah l work an 8 to 5 and live on the mainland with my office on the island -remember, no excuses!). Always check your wrong answers and replay those portions and find out what you didn't hear properly. I used youtube for listening/speaking/reading.
3. There's this ielts expert too, one Ryan (cannot remember his surname) that l think is underrated. I used his tips for writing. He talks about 15 sentences max for writing. 3 paragraphs with 4 sentences and the closing paragraph should have 3 sentences. This keeps you in check and you already know what to write before the exam, all you will be waiting for on the ielts day is the topic given! I can share his materials if you drop your email address. For writing, write letter and essays! Don't read what someone else wrote. Write yours too. Some people practise writing by reading another's work -WRONG! write yours too and compare. Minimum letters to write on different topics - 10. Minimum essays - 20. Revise your work and look for better ways to reconstruct your sentences. I suggest you write with pencil on your exam day so you can erase if need be.
4. For reading - use youtube. It also has a timer, so practice using the time and don't stop the timer or pause the video. The easiest comprehension in reading are the first two. Spend less time there. Say 5 mins tops for each. You do not need to UNDERSTAND nada. Just look at the instructions (very important), then the questions, then scroll through the passages for the answers. You need all your time for the last two passages. They are more technical.
5. For speaking - Be confident, relaxed and know your basic english and introduction (see ieltsliz). See this as an interview. We all attend interviews don't we? I got a list of 42 likely cue cards from ieltsliz blog (l think she said they change it every 3 months but she always update the cue card questions) and l practiced the 42 different topics and l always set my two minutes timer with my phone. You can be in the BRT or your car and practice this one, or when walking down the street or whilst doing chores at home, or lying down in your bed doing nothing (l did this. Some days, people will think you are going crazy because you are talking to yourself, but...who no go no know). One of the 42 questions l practiced was my cue card during my speaking test -something on my pet animal (l was wondering "madam why me? Animal kwa?" but because l had practised earlier, the examiner had to cut me off when it was two minutes. I just went on and on.
4. Lastly and certainly not the least...the place of PRAYER. I'm catholic, so when l saw the prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino here, l made a mental note to say it. I started saying it every day from September till i wrote my exam on the 1st of November. I even added a 9 days St. Joseph of Cupertino novena with prayer and fasting which ended on the 31st of October (l'm that extra oh. I left no chances). I asked my family to add me in their prayers too. So, pray, pray and pray. Whatever works for you. Someone dropped one St. prayer here on financial assistance for POF, best believe l'll look for that prayer and do it too!
5. People have done it, you too can. Don't be discouraged if you have tried more than once. We don't give up on this thread oh. Being here has taught me a different level of selflessness and never say never spirit. People you don't even know are quick to help and empathise and l am still in awe of you guys.
6. Please drop your email address so l can send the Ryan materials to you.
This too shall pass!
All the best everyone and my apologies for the long post. |

Who be this one naa! cocococo: Must everybody go to Canada? The craze is becoming too much. Canada, Canada, Canada! Some people will be writing IELTS up to 10 times all in the name of I must leave this country! The ones that manage to pass will run here and be saying, ‘Thank God I finally made it!’. While those that finally get the PPR will not let us hear word, be quoting different dates of the stages, like I care! You guys are the ones making these developed countries look down on us! IELTS is making the standard of exam more difficult day be day, WES is adding WAEC for ECA, IRCC is increasing minimum POF and cost of application fee! But we are still patronizing them, pumping the money into their economy! But the time you reach there with all the funds you are taking into Canada, you have pumped so much money into a foreign country, money that you cannot generate and send back into your own country Nigeria from where the funds came out from, thus depleting our country of resources. |

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL WAEC SCRATCH CARD SENDER TO WES.
As promised earlier yesterday, I tried getting the scratch cards but something came up.
Rather than selling the normal scratch card, WAEC says they only sell RESULT CHECKER which looks like MTN recharge card slip.
Will WES accept this kind of scratch card?
Also tried calling WES but I'm unable to speak with anyone because their office isn't open yet.
Please, make your comments now. |

Mummychichi: I think NECO is not doing it right. If I remember correctly, you're the second person complaining of this. I think you should go there and let them know how it should be done. Kpele.
But I really do not understand WES and verifications. Schools and WAEC send transcript and certificate to you directly and you're still verifying from them. Is it that they don't trust what is sent to them? Why can't the student send the WAEC/NECO certificate along with a scratch card?
Abeg if you can, avoid WES. With this new development, I feel we need to know the actual problem WES has with WAEC and NECO. |
