Goldie20: if you ever been refused a canadian visa.. and u really wanna know why you been refused.. pls apply for caips.. i just got my result for caips today.. and im amazed from what i found.. it explains everything that was going thru the V.O's mind the moment he/she touch/touched your application... what the v.o thinks of your application and what his/her personal ''say'' about it...

here is what i found out...

Dear Sirs

Thank you very much for your recent file request - we have now received your GCMS notes from CIC and I enclose a copy for you in Adobe pdf format.

I am very sorry to see that your application for a study permit was refused. I am afraid that we are seeing a very large number of study permit (and other temporary visa) applications refused, mostly for one or more reasons that we cited see over and over again:
- studies completely unrelated to an applicant's educational/employment history
- where an applicant has applied to do a course similar to one that they have already completed
- where a similar course would be considerably cheaper to study nearer to home
- the ability of an applicant to actually complete a course of study (usually in this case they would cite evidence of poor marks from earlier educational courses)
- the bona fides of the applicant's intentions (whether it appears the applicant is using the study permit as a means to enter Canada with no intention of completing the course of study)
- whether the applicant has sufficient funds to support themselves in Canada and/or the source of such funds
- where an applicant appears to have strong ties to Canada and/or weak ties to their home country

It is important to understand these in context - since Canada tightened up its permanent residency visa requirements in 2008, temporary visas have become the only way for many people to enter Canada. As such, CIC have become extra vigilant in ensuring anyone issued a temporary visa is actually intending to come to Canada temporarily, and not using their visa as a way of entering the country with no intention of leaving.

You will find the visa officers' notes on your case on pages 12-13 of the file. It seems that CIC's primary concerns are "not clear why he would want to attend school in Canada instead of USA.... do not find studies reasonable under these circumstances..."

Unfortunately, the notes on your case are particularly short and unhelpful, but reading between the lines you can infer that CIC are worried about your lack of family or any other ties at home (family, property, job, car, financial resources etc. etc.) that would act as an incentive to leave once your course is completed.

If you wish to reapply successfully, I am afraid that you would bear these factors in mind when preparing your new application.

best wishes

Trish Bridson, CAIPS FileCheck

Now i know what to work on when i apply again...

P.S Congrats to everyone that have got their visa.. and goodluck to those applying... xxxx

this is very useful, if i may kindly add that it would be even more useful if u tell us the documentation which u used. Acct statements etc. What course did you study ? and what school. This would be very valuable info.

Thanks once again.

Proof of Means of Financial Support

You must prove that you can support yourself and the family members accompanying you while you are in Canada by providing as many of the following documents:

your bank statements for the past four months
a bank draft in convertible currency
pay stubs
an employment letter
proof of assets or business
proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees
tax reports, declarations or statements
proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution
a letter from the person or institution providing you with money
proof of funding paid from within Canada, if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program
proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada

this is the list from the website for financial support

Hello All,
I want to ask about the following :
1. Letter of Intent - Having gone through the cic website, i didn't come across this as a basic requirement. I might have missed it. Please is it mandatory or just to reinforce the submission.

2. Sponsor's letter of reference from his employer : I already have his appointment letters, and bank payslip etc. Do i need a reference again + what would be the content of the letter

3.Letter of SPonsorship vs Affidavit of Support : I already have the letter of sponsorship, do i still need the affidavit Are both required??

4.Questionnaire : pls do i dwnload this and fill manually. Didn't see it in the main cic website. but in the Nigerian cic page.

Awaiting your responses. Happy Sunday my people.

One Love.

bumdish:

I attached an affidavit to the photocopy of my birth certificate cos' I lost the originals, even though someone who was more experienced profusely advised I get the NPC version for my Canadian application; in the end, I was good to go. In my opinion, documents to be used should be as natural as possible. The moment you start cooking documents here and there, you give the examiner more reasons to look more closely. In summary, if the certificate issued by the hospital is the one the person have been using all along and is recognized by law, then please use otherwise the person may go for the NPC version. No wahala

Sorry pls how long does it take to get the birth cert form NPC

Good day fellas,
I have compiled all my documents, and i plan to carry out my application tomorrow. Before i post a list of my compiled documents , want to seek the opinion of experienced members of the house ( greatest regards to OGA SIGA)on which means i should use. Based on research and this forum , i have listed these 3 application routes

1. Direct application though CDHC ( not online)
2. CIC online application (E -Apps)
3. VFs global office

Please guys , which of these should i use ( based on my application time vs the sept 1 entry)
.

NB: I know there is no guaranty but one am sure that by people's experiences, one of the above listed would be mostly preferred.

Responses would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Guys,

I just received my hard copy admission letter today. So happy.
I want to proceed with the online application. As from tomorrow. I have all my documents as requested. excluding original B.Sc cert . i would be using my original statement of result, and original transcripts in place of that , i am using my dad's dorm acct of 5m as statement ( my tuition + living expenses of 1 year ) and possibly his other current account of about 3m alongside other docs. I want to know from the experienced ,members of the house if this is going to be sufficient to obtain the visa for SEPT 1 entry considering the application time ( last week of April as against Sept 1 entry).

responses would be most welcome.

God Bless You all.

VCTROKOYE: What of ur transcript? When I submitted my docs last month, I was told it would take 4-6 months. I feel dat with original transcript there won't be problem. Let d house advice

I have a set of transcripts i collected from the school both scanned and in hard copy. If that would be okay then i must say am good to go. I was just worried at the fact that i haven't yet had my original certificate. Besides, When were you offered admission and when did your hard copy letter arrive??What entry date is your admission scheduled for ?

Which doc did u use ? transcript or original cert.

pls reply

HelLo All,
I have been following this thread and i just got my hard copy offer letter for the school. I have some questions and i really hope to get replies from the more experienced members of the house.

1. Now that i have the letter, I am torn in-between applying straight away using my original STATEMENT OF RESULT as opposed to applying a week later when i would have collected the ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE from my school. I graduated way back in 2006 from Imo State, and certs were only been issued as from 2010. Due to my work schedule i haven't really made out time to collect it prior to now. Does applying to CDHC with the statement of result diminish my chances of getting a visa on time in any way?

2. I would like to know whether 1st week of may would be too late to apply for Sept 1 resumption? The way it stands now, i can only get the original cert in a weeks time from today. Every other doc is in place.

Would really appreciate replies . Thanks

GboyegaD:

People have been successful using either of them as they are both ways of applying for a TRV. However, regarding which is more efficient, it might be difficult to ascertain but going by the information on their website, the claim is that they attend to those who use the online portal first which implies, the online portal should be preferred by an applicant.
More so, you cannot go wrong with the documents to upload with the online application since the initial survey helps personalise your application giving you a guide as to the things required of you. This is my opinion though.

No you don't have to. The fact is you cannot get a work permit until after the first 6months of study thus, it saves you the stress of bothering your head over a work permit since you can apply after you get in here. Its just an advice.

Thanks for the response. This is almost a consultancy firm....considering the speed with which all sorts of questions are answered. CDHC should contract their customer care out to you guys..lol.

THANKS ONCE AGAIN.

hello my fellow nairalanders,

I have previously posted on the online process of application as i intend to use it for application. In my previous posts i asked what the major difference was between using vfs global and directly cic online portal. I really would like to
know if anyone here has been successful with either of the two. (vfs and cic) and which they feel would be the most efficient.

2. The program which i intend to attend is a 2 yr program which has no co-op included. Aldo i intend to work during the usual summer breaks or also take research assistant positions, now the problem is : in the questioner in the cic website used to determine the eligibility an type of visa, i cam across a question whether i intend to study alone or work while studying. My program doesn't allow "work while studying " but i intend to take up jobs during the break. Do i need a work permit for this too??

Urgent response needed please.

Regards,
Obinna

Onye oma:

No. 1 answer:

1) don't think its late to apply then...all you need to do is to ensure that the documents you present to CDHC are very straight forward (does not require strenous verification processes)

No 2 answer:

If and only if you're a citizen of Ghana, you can go ahead. If otherwise, save urself the unnecessary stress. I don't think its possible considering the fact that you must apply from your home country.

No.3 answer:

I don't think it will see you thru considering the fact that ur dad must have other dependants...abi you go carry the whole money go Canada and leave ur family to die of starvation Think about it my brother...
You can make the amount up to #8million

No 4 answer:
A)
Considering using an agent, I have a very lil knowledge,ßuђ all I can say is that they work with their checklist (just like CDHC),and once you meet with the criterias they listed (just like CDHC as well), you're sure of getting ur visa by God's grace.

4b) The shorter means of applying is at the moment under review ßuђ I feel the online method will be faster cos its still used by few and they'll try to gain people's confidence inusing it by making the time duration very short.

No. 5 answer:

If all the documents you presented to CDHC are unambiguous, you'll be thru before the stipulated 18 weeks.
Hint: make all the documents you intend to submit as concise and straight forward as possible.

I wish you all the best in your submission.

Thnks Onye oma. I really appreciate your detailed response. ka chukwu gozie gi .

besides are in currently residing in Canada? Hope life is good?

regards.

Hello All,

This is my first post on Niaraland although i have followed several threads for a few months now. I must commend the efforts of those who devote time to enlighten all of us. You guys have shown the positive sides of the internet and how it can be used for the greater good.

I am a graduate of architecture who just secured admission into Uni of Calgary for a 2 year masters in Architecture. I am hoping to start my visa application once i receive the hard copy of the admission letter. Having gone through various comments from part 3 - 4, i would like to ask the following questions and would appreciate answers based on experience.

1. Assuming i start my application process by Late April - First week of May, would it be to late considering a Sept 1st starting date?

2. Is it possible to apply for the visa through another country (GHANA TO BE PRECISE) considering the significant difference in the processing time (18 weeks vs 4 weeks)

3. My tuition is about 16,000 usd (2.5m naira approx), Living expenses/yr : 10,000 usd (1.5m) ; WOULD IT BE SAFE TO HAVE ABOUT 4.5m naira in the account i am presenting (My dad) for a successful visa app.

4. I would like an enlightenment on the following means of visa application in terms of surest / shortest possible duration.
a. MAPLE EDUCATION INC b.VFS GLOBAL c. online application via vfs or Canadian embassy.

5. Finally, minus play_play mata , shey dis canadian visa application dey really reach that 18 weeks? My liver just dey cut since i see the tin. Abeg na so e be

I really look forward to timely responses from those with experience on the issue or similar.

Best Regards all,
YOU GUYS ROCK!!! grin
