hadassaheke:
Good morning n sorry dat il have to disturb u again, cos i havent seen any1 going for mspe here, so my questns are:
1. How was ur interview done, phone or through skpe?
2. What were the MSPE interview questions?
3. What did you score overall in the first assesment, cos i know its over 100
4. How long before you got the admission notification after the interview?
Abeg no vex for my plenty question o
Please, feel free to ask whatever you want to ask whenever you want to. I will try to respond as well as I can as soon as possible. However, questions on MSPE may not really be appropriate in this particular thread, so you could try sending me a personal message if you have any other questions on MSPE.
1. My interview was conducted using Skype video call.
2. My interview questions were on my motivation to take part in the MSPE programme, the contents of my CV that I submitted as a part of the application documents, and technical questions on the mechanical engineering aspect of power generation.
3. 81
4. That same day!
Notes:
a. During my application window, the interview could be conducted via any of Skype video call, Skype audio call, or the telephone. They preferred the Skype options since they're cheaper.
b. The technical aspects of my interview questions were limited to areas in my bachelor studies.
c. Most importantly, things that apply this year may differ from things that will apply in other years. Further, what applies for one person may differ from what applies to another person in the same year.

hmmm mine is industrial physics but i majored in EE courses......
To my understanding, you are very much eligible to apply:

If you have a Bachelor degree or equivalent in
ELECTRICAL or mechanical engineering, PHYSICS, or
a related discipline, preferably in the field of
energy technology, you are welcome to apply for
the Master's Program in Power Engineering.
(Culled from www.mspe.ei.tum.de/index.php?id=application ; emphases are mine)

Mechanical Engineering

hadassaheke:
@ number13 pls what did u study in your bachelors degree?
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 4:34pm On Jul 13, 2015
@Ebele, daalu, thank you.
I think the picture is clearer now. And you recommend Barmer GEK, right? When you say you don't pay for jack, do you mean that it's the cheapest? Also, by a wrong 'plan', do you mean a company whose insurance isn't approved for use by TUM, or are there incompatible plans even among those provided by approved companies such as Barmer GEK? I really wish to contact you in person; how do you suppose I can do that?

ebele17:
No, you can not use Nigerian insurance to enroll in TUM
Full enrollment is when you have submitted everything and you can pick up your student card - if you have missing documents, i think you can enroll but you cant have your card until you submit everything.
No, you can complete enrollment from Nigeria but you need to be aware of the different insurance plans. if you pick a wrong one you may not be able to use it for enrollment and its usually kinda complicated to cancel subscriptions. the bureaucracy is too much.
No, enrollment is usually specific. check for the specific deadline from tumonline in your portal. its usually 15th Oct for new students. Old students are usually in august. you much check from tumonline
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 12:52pm On Jul 13, 2015
I had an interview prior to admission. The admission criteria may differ from year to year, so I suggest you thoroughly read the information on the programme website (www.mspe.ei.tum.de). I submitted my application in January, and was already admitted by the end of March. Good luck.

hadassaheke:
wow, so ure going for power engineering? dats d i course i wanna go for next yr at TUM too, pls did u do d interview or twas direct admission? and what n what did you submit.....and also when did you submit n get d admission.......pls so sorry for my long question, just happy to see someone going for my course in d same school, after a long search n silently following/reading!!!!
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 12:36pm On Jul 13, 2015
@ebele17,
Thank you smiley
I have just a few more issuse I wish you'd clarify for me, please.
1. So, is the 3-month travel insurance that we get here in Nigeria on being issued a visa sufficient for the enrollment at TUM? If so, insurance from which of the companies?
2. You mentioned 'full' enrollment. Is this different from ordinary enrollment?
3. Does it mean that we cannot complete the enrollment from here in Nigeria?
4. When is the deadline for enrollment? I just saw 'October' on the website without a specific date. Ordinarily, I would have taken that to mean the whole of October, i.e. until the 31st, but lectures commence on the 12th, so I'm not sure.

ebele17:
Wow, number 13. Congrats on your admission. You are right, for student hall you have be on the waiting list. You can look for outside accommodation for the time being and also there are people that sublet their student room for a month or more. This is the best option for you because accommodation out side in Munich is expensive. Go to facebook, their is the TUMInternational group and the group for people looking to sublet. You will find adverts. The sooner the better. About health insurance, you can write to the insurance companies from Nigeria but its not important until you get here. When you get here, you can go to the office personally and they will explain to you what you need and what they do. You can then sign up and take the letter to school for your full enrollment. Because, you have to take the letter there anyway. Don't be in a rush about that one. They know that, that is why you are buying 3 months health insurance from Nigeria. Because for insurance here, they need your bank details, ID, address of where you live in Munich and all that stuff which you don't have yet. This is for public. I don't know for private insurance and sometimes TUM doesn't accept private insurance. I use BARMER GEK and its being awesome for me. I don't pay for jack. With private insurance, you pay your bills and they refund some but with public, you don't pay anything at the hospital or if you are buying drugs. Even with private, some clinics or pharmacies don't accept it.
I hope I am able to cover everything

Hi guys, I got some mail but the thing no gree open. Yahoomail just dey tell me Mailer daemon. The replies are not going. Maybe you can send the mail again or post the questions on nairaland. I will try my best to answer. I remembered I got one from number13. Among others too.
@ebele17
OK, thanks. I've been admitted to study Power Engineering at TUM.
Firstly, I don't know what to do regarding accommodation. I've applied to student union halls via studentenwerk, but I understand that you rarely get a place there in time for the commencement of one's studies due to the long waiting list.
Secondly, since proof of health insurance is compulsory for enrollment, what's the best way of obtaining that from Nigeria? How long does it generally take to process, and what's the payment method?
Thanks again.

Accommodation for Munich na the worst o...but God dey sha...I dey follow my guys on ground talk sha.
I'm hoping those student union hostels will be available

If you will need to pay at all, before arriving Germany I don't know at all. I don't think you will have to.
What's your move on accommodation?
@Obiwann, is that so? That's encouraging smiley
@Eke, have you applied for the insurance? I've only applied to studentenwerk for accommodation. Not sure what else to do. How about you?
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 9:47pm On Jul 12, 2015
Power Engineering. How do I pay, and how long until I get the insurance? Yeah, I'm way below 30.

Eke40seven:
What course are you going for?
AOK is the way o. I'll get their mail contact. just send them a message and they will ask for a scan copy of your admission letter and the data page of your international passport then the rest will be history but whether you reach Germo October or after, insurance fee will start counting from the 1st of October.

P.S. I'm under the assumption that you are under 30, thus the AOK I mentioned.

@Obiwann, Anhalt na 566 euros semester fee o without free transportation, while TUM na 113, wetin man go do na?
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 5:48pm On Jul 12, 2015
@Eke40seven: Yeah, I've been admitted to TUM. Have you? I've also paid. Has enrollment started, though? And honestly, I don't know how to go about the German health insurance. We need to talk. How do I reach you?

Eke40seven:
@number13, have you gotten admission to TUM?
Deadline for enrollment and payment ain't so far. Around August 15 for payment and before October for enrollment. Have you done your German health insurance.
I have already gotten full details on how to go about it and people to help with the rest. Let me know your preparations so we can contrast and compare the vest way to go about the whole thing. At least make person tie the option down before we consider the other options.
People going to Anhalt, i still dey half leg with una o. I no leave una.

Nawao, Hamburg people everywhere up and down, Obiwann, Ahbbiey and their group..huh

Never fails, Ahbbiey, never fails. Thanks, Ceeesaw too. Maybe reliability is a function of repeated letters in usernames.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 8:38pm On Jul 11, 2015
Folks, respond naa. Ever-reliable Ahbbiey, anyone, eh?

Can academic certificates and testimonials that are not themselves parts of requirements for the visa interview serve as biographic documents? Moreover, is only one's preceding degree i.e. a bachelor's degree for a master's programme, or a waec for a bachelor's programme, sufficient for the interview, or must one present all of his previous certificates of academic qualifications?

Isn't one given back his original documents immediately after the interview? Because Obiwann said this:
'even though I had the NPC birth certificate, I kept it aside cos I might visit another embassy with it'

@Ahbbiey: lol:
So after all my rambling it seems possible (in theory) to get your visa at hand without an admission letter. But in real life I haven't seen it so I cannot say

@GoldHorse, @naijaobi: Thanks very much
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 7:13pm On Jul 10, 2015

It won't affect it.

If you are asked about accommodation you should tell the VO the truth-that you have applied and you are waiting to hear back from Studentenwerk.
Thanks again, ma'am. smiley

U can't escape the question my dear... It's very important to dem
I have already applied for accommodation at studentenwerk but haven't been given one yet. How would that affect my visa interview/processing. Those that have had their interviews/have been issued visas, please respond.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 2:33pm On Jul 10, 2015
Thanks Ahhbiey, Eke, Neyo, and others
Another thing, will I be asked about my accommodation arrangements in Germany for the Visa interview?
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 10:30pm On Jul 09, 2015
It is said that he who asks questions does not get lost. Is there a new checklist for the visa interview? Like an update on the version available online. I understand that it is somewhere on this thread, but I can't seem to be able to find it. I'd be glad if someone could point out the page number.
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by number13: 9:59pm On Jul 09, 2015
@Ahhbiey: I was talking about the date on the visa, not the travel insurance. Will it be valid from the day it is issued, or from near the date when your programme commences. Another clarification please; do you need the insurance to be ISSUED a visa or just to COLLECT it? Because the insurance isn't a part of the visa checklist, and you have already been issued the visa, right, even though you don't have the insurance yet?
