By Adewale Sanyaolu Amid poor electricity supply across the country, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), yesterday announced an increase in the prices of electricity meters by 20.17 per cent and 32.38 per cent respectively. A circular issued by NERC and dated November 11, 2021, disclosed that the hike in prices takes effect from Monday, November 15, 2021. The circular, a copy of which was sighted by Daily Sun with reference number NERC/REG/MAP/GEN/751/2, entitled ‘Review of the unit price of end-use meters under the Meter Asset Provider and National Mass Metering Regulations,’ was addressed to managing directors, all electricity distribution companies and all meter asset providers. In the circular, NERC increased the price of a single-phase meter from the current cost of N44,896.17 to a revised price of N58,661.69. This was even as it increased the price of a three-phase meter from the current cost of N82,855.19 to a revised rate of N109,684.36. The programme is part of Federal Government’s effort to further bridge the country’s metering gap. The metering initiative was designed to ensure a seamless metering process that allows customers to register and be metered on the same day after following due process. Beneficiaries of the programme, which cut across all the 11 Discos, will not be required to pay upfront for the installation of meters. Rather, the modalities of cost recovery for the meters will be clearly defined and communicated to the beneficiaries. The primary objective of the National Mass Metering Programme is to increase the metering rate in the country and close the gap of unmetered customers. It is also expected that it will assist in reducing collection losses, while at the same time, increasing financial flows to achieve 100 percent market remittance obligation of the DisCos. Part of the objectives also include the elimination of arbitrary estimated billing, improving network monitoring capability and provision of data for market administration and investment decision-making. Apart from its job creation potentials in the meter value chain, the programme will further strengthen the local meter value chain by increasing local meter manufacturing, assembly and deployment capacity, all in support of Nigeria’s economic recovery plan. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/fg-increases-electricity-meter-prices-by-32-38-2/ |
The Securities and Exchange Commission says it is working with the Central Bank of Nigeria to understand better and regulate cryptocurrencies. The Director General, Lamido Yuguda, said this at the 2021 first post-Capital Market Committee (CMC) virtual news conference. Mr Yuguda added that SEC was in discussion with the CBN to understand better and regulate the crypto-assets market. He said that the commission had suspended the implementation of crypto assets guidelines due to a lack of access to Nigerian bank accounts. “We are in discussion with CBN for both understanding and better regulating of this market. We will be able to come back to you later to inform you of the outcome of these engagements. “But because of the lack of access to commercial bank accounts, we had to suspend our own guidelines of September 2020. The implementation of that circular is suspended until these operators are able to have access to Nigerian bank accounts,” he noted. Speaking further, he stated, “Remember that nobody operates in the Nigerian capital market if that person does not have access to a Nigerian bank account.” Mr Yuguda, however, said SEC remained supportive of fintechs and had invested so much in developing a framework to support their operations. “Let me say that the SEC remains very supportive of fintechs. “We have invested so much in developing a framework for supporting fintechs in the various areas, and fintechs are acting in areas of crowdfunding, investment advice, and cryptocurrencies and the like,” he said. He explained that the market was disrupted by CBN’s prohibition on access to Nigerian bank accounts by the crypto exchange. “In all other areas, nothing has changed, but in the area of crypto assets, you know that with the recent prohibition by the CBN on access to Nigerian bank accounts by crypto exchanges, that market has been disrupted. “The truth of the matter is that while the SEC had issued guidelines in September 2020 aimed at regulating this market, for now for all intents and purposes, because these exchanges do not have access to commercial bank accounts in Nigeria the market, for now, does not exist,” he said. According to him, the commission recognises the impact of FinTechs on capital market activities. He assured the public that SEC would remain accommodative of this development. “We shall continue to engage players and support them to operate lawfully. “Our aim is to ensure the delivery of safe products and services without stifling innovation,” Mr Yuguda added. He encouraged fintech firms to approach the commission for due registration and desist from operating illegally. https://gazettengr.com/sec-working-with-cbn-to-lift-ban-on-cryptocurrencies-trading/ |
By Samuel Oamen The Army will soon move against separatist agitators such as Sunday Igboho and Asari Dokubo, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. -Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, has stated. Attahiru’s warning was delivered in Uyo at the first Commanding Officers’ Workshop 2021. Igboho recently unilaterally declared the South west part was no longer part of Nigeria. Dokubo also announced establishment of Biafra Customary Government in which he incorporated some parts of the South east and South South as part of the territory. But Attahiru promised the Army will deal decisively with every form of security threats confronting the nation, including those posed by the secessionist agitators like Igboho and Dokubo. “The Nigerian Army under my leadership would remain proactive and jointly work with other security agencies to decisively deal with threats facing the nation. “The Nigerian Army under my watch remains resolute and is poised more than ever before to decisively deal with individuals or groups that threaten the peace, security and stability of our great nation,” he vowed. https://thenationonlineng.net/army-chief-to-dokubo-igboho-others-we-are-coming-for-you/ |

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said National Identification Number (NIN) holders will have to pay N15,000 to correct their dates of birth in the commission’s database. NIMC Regional Coordinator, Mrs Funmi Opesanwo, stated this on Wednesday at the commission’s office in Alausa, Lagos State. According to her, NIN holders would be required to pay a N5,000 processing fee for card renewal or card replacement, as well as an address modification fee of N500. Opesanwo reiterated that NIN enrolment is free, but card renewal, correction of date of birth, and change of address attract fees. She said, “For the date of birth correction, there is a processing fee of N15,000. “For card renewal or card replacement, there is a processing fee of N5,000. For the modification of address or name, it is N500. So, people misconstrue this to mean that in NIMC they are asking them to pay money. No, those are for services.” Opesanwo noted that the fees are payable to the Treasury Single Account of the Federal Government. “For correction of date of birth, it is N15,000 and it is payable to the TSA,” she added. https://dailypost.ng/2021/01/06/nimc-confirms-why-nin-holders-will-pay-n15000/ |
One of the most vocal politicians and elder statesmen in the northern part of Nigeria, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, says the presidency will not be handed over to the Igbos of the South-East in 2023 on a platter of gold as they have to work hard to get a chance. Yakassai who spoke on Sunday, December 3, while interacting with journalists at his Kano home a few days after celebrating his 94th birthday, said there was nothing wrong with the clamour for an Igbo President come 2023, but that they must not expect it to be given to them just like that, believing that the North will not speak with one voice on the issue of zoning of the presidency ahead of the 2023 elections. Yakassai, a founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), spoke on the agitation by the Igbos of the South-East to be president, being the only major ethnic group that has not occupied the seat since independence, said there is no constitutional provision for power shift but some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) want to have a “gentleman’s agreement that the nation’s highest office should rotate to the southeast after Buhari’s tenure.” The northern politician insisted that though the South-East has sufficient grounds to seek the highest office, “hard work, rather than a mere wish, is what will make Igbo presidency a reality.” “The presidency has never been given to any zone for free. It always comes through voting. I want the South-East to have the opportunity to produce the President because the South-West had it in Olusegun Obasanjo. “The South-South had in Goodluck Jonathan. The North-West had it in Umaru Yar’Adua and again in Muhammadu Buhari. But the seat or ticket has never been given free of charge. You have to work for it. “Election is a matter of convincing people and presenting your programmes to them. You tell them how their lives will be better off and all that. In the end, they will settle for the person they believe will impact more on them. “My advice to my Igbo brothers and friends is that they should work hard for it because the slot will not be handed over to them just because they clamour for it. It is not done that way.” https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/presidency-wont-be-handed-to-igbos-on-a-platter-in-2023-yakassai/ |

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has called out the Nigerian government after the resignation of Peru president, Manuel Merino following street protests. Merino resigned after the death of two protesters among the tens of thousands who were protesting against the government in Lima, the capital city. Police had fired tear gas and shotgun pellets to repel demonstrators who threw objects. Reacting, the IPOB leader took a swipe at the Nigerian government over its treatment of protesters and response to End SARS protests. Kanu on his Twitter page wrote: “Peru President Merino resigns following street protests but in Nigeria, following #EndSARS protests, Nigeria president is either persecuting and freezing bank accounts of Nigerian youths or slaughtering them at #Obigbo and Nigerians are seemingly tolerating it. Recall that some accounts belonging to End SARS promoters were recently blocked by the central Bank of Nigeria. About six protesters were recently granted bail by an Abuja court after they were arrested during a protest in Abuja. This was following the End SARS protest led by Nigerians against police brutality in the country. https://dailypost.ng/2020/11/16/nnamdi-kanu-knocks-buhari-as-peru-president-resigns-after-death-of-protesters/ |
One-time Nigeria’s most wanted criminal, Shina Rambo, has resurfaced in the Ekiti State, professing that he is now a changed man working for God as a preacher of the gospel of Christ. The News Agency of Nigeria, reports that he spoke on Sunday during a Yoruba programme monitored on Fresh FM, Ado Ekiti, and anchored personally by prominent gospel musician and owner of the radio station, Yinka Ayefele. Rambo, who gave his real name as Oluwasina Oluwagbemiga, confessed to be the same person whose gang terrorised some parts of the country for years and tormented innocent citizens with attacks, killings and maiming. Claiming that he was now a complete child of God preaching the gospel in prisons and other reform centres, Rambo, who gave 1958 as his year of birth, said he was born as a native of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, but was raised in Benin city. “In my attempt to acquire black power then, I went to a total of 21 places, prominent among which were Minna, Niger state, and later Oro, in present day Kwara,” he said. Rambo expressed regret over his roles in a series deadly crimes that held the country spellbound for years, claiming that he was misguided by evil spirits. He said the moment he accepted Christ, the spirit of God directed him to drop all his bad habits. Rambo stated that the death of his wife and three children on a single day in the hands of those who came to arrest him, but did not meet him, was his worst regret of his former life in crime “I was to be arrested on the fateful day but those that came could not find me, so they killed them,” he said. https://punchng.com/former-robbery-kingpin-shina-rambo-resurfaces-now-a-preacher/ |
Nigerian ‘Prophet’ TB Joshua has predicted that there will be a new President in America as the US go into its presidential election on Tuesday. Joshua shared the ‘prophetic revelation’ regarding the contentious elections scheduled for today, November 3, 2020. Joshua suggested that President Trump had destroyed his opportunities to return to power with his mouth, adding that Christians would love him to win a second term but that God has another plan. The cleric said he will reserve what he is seeing “Until the new President is inaugurated.” “What is happening in the American election is as a result of the power in the tongue,” Joshua stated in his message posted on Facebook. “The word we speak determines the life we enjoy. The tongue can either work for us or against us – death and life lie in the tongue. “We Christians would have loved it [the election] to go the way we wanted. But the Bible says it is never proper to base our faith on our improvement after prayer.” The prophet said, however, that believers “should not worry” but rather derive joy “that the new [US] Supreme Court Judge, Amy Coney Barrett, will be an instrument of check.” “There is likely going to be pockets of resistance here and there but nothing will change. “Let me reserve what I am seeing until the inauguration of the new president,” he parabolically concluded, leading to a flurry of comments from viewers as to the precise meaning of his prophetic words. The US presidential election is set to be a closely fought encounter between the two major candidates – Republican incumbent President Donald Trump and Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden. https://dailypost.ng/2020/11/03/trump-vs-biden-t-b-joshua-reveals-what-god-showed-him-about-us-election/

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has suspended entry requirements for applicants who wished to join the Nigeria Police Force as constables. The IG in a signal dated August 24 directed that no candidate should be disqualified irrespective of their physical appearance, age and qualification. The Force is currently recruiting 10,000 constables to address its manpower deficiency and the screening of the candidates commenced from Monday, August 24 to September 16, 2020. According to a statement last Thursday by Force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, the applicants were expected to come with their National Identity Number; original and duplicate copies of credentials, (O’ Level results); certificate of origin and birth certificate or declaration of age neatly arranged in two white flat files with recent passport photographs. The police authorities had also barred persons with bow legs, knock knees, bent knees, and gross malformation of teeth from being enlisted into the Force. Individuals with amputated body parts, defective eyesight, and speech impediment had also been barred from the exercise. The notice also stipulated that applicants must be within the ages of 17 and 25 and must possess a minimum of five credits in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination in not more than two sittings. The police further stated that women who wished to apply must not be pregnant as of the time of recruitment. But in his latest order to police commands and formations nationwide, the IG directed his men to attend to all applicants who successfully submitted their applications online. The wireless message sighted by our correspondent on Monday, read, “Inspector-General of Police directs that you attend to all applicants who successfully submitted their online applications to police recruitment portal irrespective of their physical appearance, age and qualification. You are not to disqualify any applicant for any reason whatsoever. “Note that your recommendation for each applicant will serve as a guide to ascertaining the suitability or otherwise of each applicant. Ensure that the entire process is transparent and devoid of corruption and closely monitor activities of ICT personnel and other members of the team for strict compliance, please.” The police spokesman could not be reached for comment on the volte-face by the IG as he did not respond to calls. He had yet to reply a text message as of the time of filing this report. https://punchng.com/breaking-recruitment-ig-suspends-entry-requirements-for-candidates/ |
- Governor Godwin Obaseki's second term journey may have hit another brick wall - A Federal High Court has stopped the governor from participating in PDP's governorship primary election - This is coming after the opposition party stated that APC's candidate is no match for any of its aspirants Trouble looms for Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki as a Federal High Court on Monday, June 22, stopped him taking part in the PDP governorship primary, a report by P.M News has stated. Justice E.A. Obile of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt banded the newest member of the PDP from participating in the party's primary election scheduled for Thursday, June 25. The motion filed by a member of the opposition, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama is seeking a court order to stop Secondus and PDP from allowing Obaseki to buy the forms for the Edo state governorship primary. The party's national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, PDP, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), chairman of the party screening committee, Kingsley Chinda, other members of the committee, and Obaseki were listed as defendants in the case. Justice Obile granted the interim injunction as requested as hearing in the matter case has been adjourned till Wednesday, June 24. The PDP had earlier announced a waiver for Obaseki who joined the party on Friday, June 19 to enable him to participate in the primary election. Obaseki was screened by the party's committee on Saturday, June 20. Recall that a frontline aspirant of the PDP in Edo state, Gideon Ikhine, has stepped down from the governorship primaries for Governor Obaseki. Ikhine, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), announced his decision on Monday, June 22 at his campaign secretariat in the state capital, Benin. Governor Obaseki, the PDP state party chairman, Dr Tony Aziegbemi and other party leaders from across the state were in attendance at the briefing. Ikhine said Obaseki’s defection to the party was God’s great answer to the party and his aspiration. Following Ikhine's decision, the Edo state governor is now favourite to clinch the PDP's governorship ticket in Edo state. Ahead of the PDP primary, Governor Obaseki's chances have become brighter after he met with key stakeholders within the opposition party. Until Obaseki’s ordeal, the PDP was said to have settled for Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, a member of the House of Representatives and chairman, committee on culture and tourism as their preferred flag bearer. Meanwhile, PDP declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s candidate for the Edo governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is not a match for any of its aspirants ahead of the poll. A team of Nigerian scientists has announced the discovery of coronavirus vaccine after having validated the prototype “several times.” A local media report officially announced the discovery of the COVID-19 vaccine by a group led by lead researcher Dr. Oladipo Kolawole. Kolawole and Prof. Julius Oloke, the Head of the Coordinating Unit of the Research Group told reporters at Adeleke University in Nigeria's Eda that the vaccine has been validated several times and therefore, it will work and cannot be faked. Even though it has been designed to target the African population, Kolawole says that it will work for other races as well. “ The vaccine is real. We have validated it severally. It is targeted at Africans, but will also work for other races,” said Oloke. “It will work. It cannot be faked. This is a result of the determination. It took a lot of scientific efforts. According to the original report published, the Trinity Immunodeficient Laboratory and Helix Biogen Consult, Ogbomosho, funded the initial study on which the vaccine is based. The study was provided financial support of about 7.8 million Nigerian nairas, which is approximately equivalent to $20,000. Kolawole revealed how his team collected samples from different parts of Africa and worked rigorously on the genome of the virus to select the best candidates for the coronavirus vaccine. He did not reveal the name of the vaccine but said that the team has worked on the possible latent vaccine constructs. Due to the volume of research and analysis required as well as the time it takes to seek regulatory approvals, the vaccine is expected to be available to widespread use in about 18 months. “ We are glad that a vaccine that will provide a solution to a global problem like Coronavirus pandemic is coming from the garden,” said Prof. Solomon Adebola, the Acting Vice-Chancellor at Adeleke University. “ It is our passion to be a solution provider to such a global pandemic, and we are ready to throw our weights behind the team and make the vaccine a reality.” At the moment, more than 10 COVID-19 vaccine candidates are being tested as a part of human trials around the world. https://www.latintimes.com/nigerian-scientists-announce-discovery-covid-19-vaccine-459584 |
South Korea’s professional football league has imposed a record fine on one of its clubs for placing sex dolls in empty seats during a recent match played without spectators due to the coronavirus pandemic. FC Seoul was forced to apologise this week after TV and online viewers spotted about two dozen sex dolls dotted around the stadium during the club’s 1-0 win over Gwangju FC on Sunday. Social media users complained about the dolls, some of which were wearing the club’s shirt. Others had been dressed in T-shirts or were holding placards advertising a intimacy gadget seller and a popular online streamer who apparently inspired their design, media reports said. The club apologised for causing “deep concern” to fans, but claimed the dolls had been delivered due to a “mix-up” with the supplier, adding that it had received assurances before the match they were not intended for sexual purposes. On Thursday, the K-League fined FC Seoul a record 100m won ($81,000), saying the club had “deeply humiliated” female football fans and damaged the 38-year-old league’s reputation. After reviewing the case, league officials accepted FC Seoul’s claim that it did not know the mannequins were intimacy gadgets, but said it “could have easily recognised their use using common sense and experience”. The league said in a statement: “The controversy over this ‘real doll’ incident has deeply humiliated and hurt women fans, and damaged the integrity of the league.” FC Seoul, the 2016 league champions, accepted the decision, apologised and promised to prevent a repeat of the incident. Earlier this month the K-League became the world’s first major football league to start playing after South Korea succeeded in containing the virus. The season had been due to begin in late February, at the height of the country’s outbreak. Spectators are banned from stadiums, however, with clubs attempting to fill up stands with cardboard cutouts, placards and banners, and create a semblance of atmosphere with crowd noises pumped through PA systems. Many were unconvinced by FC Seoul’s claim that it believed the dolls were fashion mannequins. “I wonder how they even came up with this bizarre idea. This is an international disgrace,” said one online critic. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/21/south-korea-football-league-imposes-record-fine-on-fc-seoul-over-sex-dolls-outrage |
A Chief Magistrates Court in Osun State yesterday remanded a 26-year-old man, Fatai Oyeniyi, in Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly raping a 10-year-old minor. The Magistrate, Dr. Olusegun Ayilara, ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody due to the magnitude of the alleged offence and adjourned the case to June 17 for mention. However, Oyeniyi pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of rape and assault preferred against him. Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Jacob Akintunde, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2019 at Ile-Ayo Street, Ila-Orangun, Osun State. Akintunde alleged that Oyeniyi forcefully and unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a 10-year-old girl. He said the offence contravened Sections 31 and 32 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Akintunde had no legal representation during the trial. https://m.guardian.ng/news/court-remands-26-year-old-man-for-allegedly-raping-10-year-old/ |
Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Revd. Alfred Adewale Martins Wednesday cautioned promoters of different conspiracy theories as the world against Covid-19 to be careful not to cast aspersions at the Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis. Addressing newsmen on the 54th World Communications Day at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Lagos, Archbishop Martin’s said it was preposterous for a minister of the gospel to describe the head of over a billion Christians as anti-Christ. According to him, “that conspiracy theory is way beyond reason, stressing that those who are pushing it must be very careful not to dabble into areas outside their areas of competence.” The archbishop commended the Lagos State government for the prompt action taken immediately COVID-19 was discovered followed by the Federal government, but quick to point out that the situation also proved that the state of health delivery in Nigeria has been far below average. He made reference to the Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Boris Johnson who when he was infected with the virus only went to the hospital within his domain and was successfully treated, a thing that Nigeria government should emulate. He said this yesterday, during a Special Media Chat organized by the Directorate of Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos ahead of 2020 edition of the World Day of Communications coming up on Sunday, May 24, 2020, a day set aside annually by the Pope Francis to celebrate with the media practitioners all over the world and to encourage them on their pivotal role of helping to build a better world which took place at Holy Cross Cathedral Hall, Lagos. According to Martins, the theme of this year’s message by the Pope “That you may tell your children and grandchildren (Exodus 10:2): Life becomes history is premised on the need for the media to publish stories that would not promote prejudice, conflict, hatred and create divisions. “According to Pope Francis, stories that do not promote virtues and values are called deep fake news and stories that are very popular create celebrities and heroes but the question is, what type of celebrities and heroes are we projecting”. Pope Francis warned on the effect of the promotion of all kinds of social vices being made by today’s social media, giving the world bad heroes and said that the media should rather promote different kinds of scriptural stories of God’s love that made Him to create man in His image, of Jesus Christ, His Son He gave to the world, the miracles of Jesus among others. Martins also called on the Federal government not to stop giving palliatives to Nigerians, adding that the lock down has worsened the situation of the economy. He assured Nigerians of the hope that COVID-19 would surely come to pass as long as they continue to abide by those instructions based on social distances, washing of hands among others as he discouraged the issue of stigmatization of those infected and cured, assuring that God is in control. He also called on the government to believe that the Church is also interested in the welfare of its congregation and should dialogue on the resumption of congregational worship while the Church would also do its part to ensure that the people are safe. Martins cast aspersions on those indicting the Pope as one involved in the creating artificial intelligence Church with 5G which he described as conspiracy theory, adding that that does not correlate with the passion of the Pope who has always been calling that politics and economy should always be used to improve the welfare of the people,. “We objected to the bill that people should be vaccinated by force as that would infringe on the fundamental rights of the people and how then can the Pope be indicted for such irrelevant issues” he said. Earlier in his welcome address, the director of Social Communications, Rev. Father Anthony Godonu said the 54th World Communications Day is tagged “That you may tell your children and grandchildren (Exodus 10:2): Life becomes history”. Pope Francis in this year’s message called the attention of all to look at the values and importance of storytelling for the family, the church, and the nation. “Basing his reflection on Exodus 10:2, Pope Francis extols the act of storytelling in human history. ‘Stories that build up, not tear down; stories that help us rediscover our roots and the strength needed to move forward together,'” he says. According to the director, it is these human stories that have the capabilities of connecting the past to the present and forecasting into the future. “It’s these human stories that have held the world together; interconnecting and interweaving one culture to the other. “Today, people long for narratives that can help change their lives because man is by his very nature a storyteller. No wonder, our African cultures and traditions have survived thousand of years through oral storytelling. In Yoruba culture, we have “Alo” which means story, in Igbo culture, we have “Akuko” meaning story, and so on. I feel the nostalgia of “Tales by Moonlight” which was a powerful TV series of NTA in the 80s and early 90s. “And that is why we can say here that it was wrong for the Federal Government about two years ago to cancel or remove the study of history from Nigerian School curriculum as reported by Vanguard Newspaper on May 10, 2018. Prof. Wole Soyinka reacting later to this callous action by the Federal Government said, “I feel like strangling Minister who removed History from the curriculum” (May 22, 2019). “Here lies the power of repetitive stories that make up the history of humanity. Hence, the power in storytelling is inherent in repetition. “Therefore, if we do not tell our own stories, others will take advantage and smear devilish and exploitative campaigns against us. As our Holy Father has said: ‘But whereas the stories employed for exploitation and power have a short lifespan, a good story can transcend the confines of space and time. Centuries later, it remains timely, for it nourishes life.” To tell our own stories, we must possess divine wisdom, have courage, patience and discernment to counter falsehood; what the Holy Father called “deep fake” news of our time. But we must tell our stories again and again. The Holy Father says: ‘At this point life becomes story and then, for the listener, story becomes life…'” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/05/its-ridiculous-to-describe-pope-as-anti-christ-archbishop-martins/ |
