Hello guys. I'm new to this thread and i wish to ask a few questions. I'm currently studying a masters programme in one of the top universities in Europe. The programme is for 2 years but this is my first year. However, I wish to go visit my girl friend in the US during Christmas in December 2018 or during Easter(April) 2019.

so here are my questions
1. I was asked to apply now and choose a travel date towards the end of Christmas even though i'm not sure i would be able to travel at that time, and when granted the visa, in the event that i don't make my travel date in December, i could then travel in the early months of next year, most likely in April. Please is this a good idea?

2. While filling the form, i indicated "Self" for the funding field, would i be asked to show prove of funds like bank statement during the interview or something? or should I just indicate that my girl friend would sponsor the trip since she's currently working in the US and more financially stable. I don't really have much amount of money in my bank account...i'm currently only studying and not working yet.

3. I am currently filling the DS 160 form for visa type "Business & Tourism B1/B2' is this the right visa type for my case?

I already tried to read through the thread for answers but I couldn't find helpful answers for my case...please help a brother.

not yet. They said only documents used for the application. Dont allow anything to disturb you. Go and defend your SoP before the panel

I just got an official mail from MUN concerning my admission. I wasn't granted admission owing to the sole reason that there's no available supervisor. Surprisingly I don't feel bad about this one bit, cos I strongly beleive in God's plan. Success to you all in all your endeavors!

Unfortunately, your application can not be accepted due to limited seats in the M.Eng/PhD programs.

Reason for Not Admitting to the Program

Oh well I still haven't officially heard from them. Although I reached out to some graduate supervisors at MUN Electrical Engineering Departnent recently, most of them replied to my mail stating that they were not taking masters students for the 2018 fall term, owing to reasons such as lack of funds and space. Regardless, I'm still hopeful, awaiting their official decision. I also think this delay is only peculiar to students that applied for M.Eng programs though, cos it comprises both course work and thesis, so attachement to research supervisors is required for the program. Fingers crossed!

Hello...the current waiting time for a study visa is 3months maximum, but you could get it in a month or two depending on how well you package your documents.

We don't care if the person is a Visa officer or not, that doesn't count here, we are more interested in what he has to offer to the group...and for the past 24hrs he'd contributed greatly to this group. Justwise you should be flexible in situations like this and try to see things objectively. Don't deprive other people the opportunity of getting valuable information which is the ultimate aim of this group.

I know a couple of persons have been granted admission though, some as early as December last year. However, I got an information that admission would be made between March and April for most departments. From what I read on the graduate school site, different academic units have different timelines for their admission process, it all depends on the academic unit. So tell your friend to stay hopeful. No they haven't concluded admission process just yet. Those applicants that have already received admission offer probably applied long before December 2017. Apparently the admission is done in batches and majority of applicants haven't been updated on their admisison status yet. Cheers

I just received a mail from IE thou, inviting me for an assessment test next week Tuesday, 2nd May...but I already wrote a test there on the 10th of April. This is Kinda ambiguous, cos I was expecting an interview and not another test. Who else received similar mail?
