Now I see where you are coming from. We had some folks like you that came to claim that our Ochie(Etchie) people came from Bini through Akalaka. These people believe in the mystical Akalaka forebear which actually gained traction after the civil war. My granddad told me that Akalaka was a fringe discussion before the civil war but was mainstreamed as a way of people differentiating themselves from the larger Igbo group. In Ogba, the then Eze Ogba on ascension to the throne of his forebears even have to change his royal designation from Eze Ogba to Oba for the then Military government to recognised him. I am sure you have noticed that Eze Ogba is gradually being inserted back in parenesis in the current revered royal father. HIS EMINENCE. OBA BRR. NWACHUKWU NNAM OBI III. OBA (EZE OGBA) OF OGBA LAND. I am not here to banter the Akalaka story in Ikwerre, Ogba, Ekpeye and even in my Etche. There is also the Ezechima story in Onitsha and the Anioma axis with some folks claiming Bini as you are here generalising and many asserting their Igbo identity. I do not speak for any Igboid group. I speak for myself. I am not ashamed to say I am an Igbo. I do not generalised for others. I have also read history and listen to our elders. I know, that no ethnic nationality in ONELGA and Ekpeye speaks or have anything near Bini language and culture. The language, Culture and Tradition is Igbo. Anyone can makes his or her conclusions. I can actually refer you to a good book on Ogba by one of the greatest sons of Ali- Ogba by Name Francis Ellah. “Ali-Ogba: A History of Ogba People”. Francis Ellah was a Chieftain of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo until his death. I also learned that his family and many other prominent Nde Ogba identify as Igbo. Ashi onye kwe chi ya ekwe. I mara asu, ga asua nali. Chikaa nwanne ( NNNN2024: |
Look at this one. If you go through my profile and quotes you would know that I do not normally take on real Rivers folks no matter your ethnic nationality as I believe we are all one. This is just not me but same for most us here from Rivers. I detest impostors like you that come here and start attacking and misinforming people. If you have personnal problems with Ibos from the East you can settle it with them but do not come here to generalise. You are not a representative of Ogba or any one for that matter. You behavious reeks of someone from "a distant land" not even anywhere near South South. I know lots of folks here from Epkeye and ONELGA and I see their decent and meaningful contribution on this forum. It is even an insult for your to come here and start misrepresenting the good people of Ogba kingdom. I am not from Ogba but we know the politics that played off after the civil war as my grand father was a respected court officer in Ahoada even before independence and had many friends from Ekpeye, Ogba and Egbema Ethnic nationalities. I am still opportune to still relate with these prominent families till today. So i have nothing to prove for you or anyone about my bonafides. Leave our people to make their individual decisions of who is Igbo, Ijaw or Bini. Do not come here and generalise Ogbeni Our people always say, E je ji ututu amara nwa shi gi ji ugwo. Chikaa mma mma. NNNN2024: |
Lies, you are not from anywhere in Rivers not to talk of ONELGA. You just registered in Nairaland to malign the Igbos. Your assertion is completely wrong and DOA. I have many friends from Iwhuruhna, Ogba and Epkeye that assert their Igbo identity too. You should not come here and misinform people. Only shallow minded people will fall for your bait. Language, culture and tradition define a people and not oil inspired politics of ethnic nationalities as we have in Rivers. The Kalabaris, Okrika and Andonis Ethnic nationalities are already moving back to align with the larger Ijaw Nation. The same phenomenon(Unification) is already happening amongs the Igboid group. So stop this nonsence divide and rule. NNNN2024: |
This one just registered with the sole aim to misinform and talk ill of Igbos. The topic here is not about Osun or Kwara state. We are talking about Rivers State and I believe you should be more concerned about things happening in the West and not in the East or South South. For your information, I am Riversman and a proud son of Igbo Nation. NNNN2024: |
Does HRH name and title sound like Nosa or Oba? We should stop this joke and be serious for a second. Mercenary123: |
Nyerisi is fast loosing his hold on Rivers Political landscape. The rate our people are moving over to the Simplify Camp is unprecedented. If this tempo continues and the much awaited LGA election is conducted in the stated, The Abuja guy might not even win his stronghold OBALGA Ward 7 councillorship. Indeed How are the Mighty Fallen! Papparassi: |
Normally I do not engage myself with petty Rivers State Oil and Gas inspired Politics of ethnic Nationalities but my problem with you is that I rarely see you engaged the Ijaws when they term Kalabari, Ibani and Wakrike Ethnic Nationalities as Ijaw or Ijoid. I never read where the OPs or proponents of Igboid world talk about succession here. I am not a proponent of Biafra and many people I know mention Ikwerre and other Igboid Ethnic nationalities in the context of Igbo unity just as the great Ijaw Nation is doing in most of our riverine areas. As a self appointed defender of Rivers Ethnic Nationalities, I would want to see you rise up and critize Ijaws from Bayelsa and elsewhere equally as you do to Igbos from the South East region. As I normally advise my friends and others, If you have problems with Ipob, go to their webpage and comfront them. Nairaland is for Nigerians and others to get unbiased and accurate information. If you are not confortable with Igbos, then that is your cup of tea. Do not generalised. You are not Ikwerres spokesperson. I know many Ikwerre people in my circle that are very happy to be called Igbos just as we have many Riverine Ethnic Nationalities folks that are happy to be called Ijaw. I also know many Ikwerres that claim to come from Bini same way some Riverine folks do not subscribe to being Ijaw. So chill and stop going around cherry picking! For your information, I am Riversman from Etchie Ethnic Nationality and a proud son of Igbo Nation. Tranquill: |
Look at this old man. The guy is mentioning someone's surname and you are comparing a surname with a middle name that has nothing to do with one's heritage/ancestory. Ogbakor Ikwerre is the only organ that can talk for IWHỤRỤỌHA Any other person or group is fake. I am suspecting that our friends in far away land must have sponsored the unknown group. Merchant247: |
Agreed my brother This is the most ridiculous post I have ever seen. An unknown entity writing a letter on behalf of Ijaw youths without the imprint of the IYC? O di kwa egbu ooh!!! Abagworo: |
Which Ijaw? Ijaw with office in Abuja? So Ijaws are no longer represented by Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC) or the parent body Ijaw National Congress (INC) with their head office in Yenegoa? Common, lets be sensible for once. Ikaeniyan0: |
Just stop this nonsense! You are taking an online ranting from a minute group of people to insult the great IWHỤRỤỌHA people? How many places have you visited in Eli Ikwerre to know if they have problems with Igbos? My LGA and Ikwerre used to be one before the FMG created a separate LGA for us and most of my friends are from Ikwerre. Can you even differentiate between an Ikwerreman from KELGA and onye NGOR from NGOR Opkala in Imo State both in Language and culture? We should be mindful of these people from outside instigating and causing problems amongs the various ethnic groups of the Great Igbo nation. WhiteNRed: |
What is your relationship with Ndigbo? You are probably from Ogbomosho and just registered your account recently to malign the Great Igbo Nation. You are not and can never be from IWHỤRỤỌHA. So take your hatred and effort and go liberate Ilorin before meddling into petty political issues of Rivers State. Whalis: |
No one should take this unknown entity with an Abuja address serious. The letter can even come from someone in Osun State. Ijaw Ethnic nationality has an able representation in IYC and INC. If we do not hear from these two groups then forget it. I can as well stay in Chokocho and send out a letter that all Rivers are Igbo in likewise manner. Nna men is doing a great job. He was in Okehi sometime ago to preach his message of uniting our people with the greater Igbo population of South East. He was well received by our youths. I watch his videos once in a while and I have not seen him going outside Igboid communities and ethnicities to lure than for unity. He speaks the central Igbo language and try to show people the similarities of their Language and culture with other Igbo ethinicities. I really do not see where this is coming. This action by our friend from Ogbomosho would only make him and his message more popular. Crazybeard: |
Just because an unknown association probably sponsored by political miscreants and championed by an unknow Nwo-diali is ranting on X; you now attribute it to the whole Ikwerre people. FYI, Ikwerre ethnic nationality have a representative organisation called the Ogbakor Ikwerre. As long as that statement is not coming from the organisation, we will not take you and your sponsors serious. I am Igbo and a Proud Riversman. Melezenawii: |
Must you lie to drive likes on your comment? You know you are telling lies here. The lady in question only told Obi that most of the positive developments that he is seeing in Bangladesh are being driven by diasporan citizen and not due to Sheika Hussannis government. She mentioned about Road construction and other infrastructure which she mentioned were being over inflated. Obi quoted statistics based on relevant UN and Bangladesh’s sources which the audience and the panelist made of eminent Commonwealth personalities and technocrats nodded to.. Is this not even a big one for Obi to be called to make a speech at such a forum and he performed exceeding well reeling out verifiable statistics. You should not mock someone based on his intonation or speech pattern. How does Tinubu talk? Does Tinubu know anything about the economy? Come to think of it, have you been to Bangladesh before to verify what this single diaspora citizen said were correct? You are here praising Tinubu everyday and others are here vilifying him. Would you take a comment of someone that could possibly be an opposition supporter and run with it? I hope you know that most of Bangladesh terrain are low lying marshland with almost the same features as Bayelsa and Rivers State riverine areas. Have you asked yourself why it is so expensive to construct roads in Bayelsa and Rivers compare to your dry Osun and Kwara? Abeg Go find a job Ogbeni and make something out of your Owomida life. plaindealer: |
abiolert:Just shut up your gbegiri mouth. We are here talking about serious issues about insecurity in Ali Ekpeye and other parts of our dear state and you are talking trash. I do wonder how people will stay in Ogbomosho and be talking about a place they know nothing about. An Ekpeye son was telling you how the current insecurity came to their land and you are here threatening him with an arrest. Come to PH or Ahoada to arrest him now. Mugu! |
Go and stand on the line to collect your family entitled palliative before it finishes, Nwokem! You have earned your 30k plus the palliative shege. yarimo: |
Every other person I know in this forum has moved on after the election but you have refused to do so. It's really surprising that a grown up man like you with a family would continue to stay 24/7 online writing irrelevant and nonsensical things about Obi at the cost of 30K per month? Are you not ashamed that the man you are supporting has completely messed up the country? My advice still remains that you should go get a job so that you can save yourself this humiliating and shameful endeavour. helinues: |
Which Lagos? Lagos that was developed by with our commonwealth. Tomorrow now, the Northerners would come an tell us that Abuja represent the North new age and urbanism. Why not cite your example with Ibadan or Abeokuta for your West? Comparing Oranges with mangoes!! ![]() BabaRamota1980: |
Wa ooh, I can now see where this problem is coming from. So an important institution is headed by such a person? Thank you for providing this vital information. Is the said Mallam Ishaq fully qualified for the position. or just a radical Islamist appointed in such a sensitive position? We need to research more. OmoFiditi: |
Yaba left sojourner! Ara! Ara!! Ara!!! LordviccoDaGuru: |
Shuruup Anom piam! Always jumping into what does not concern you. Go look for a job or better still go do community service at Iragbiji. They need your energy instead of lazing about in Nairaland. AntiMarxist: |
You know in you mind that you are comparing apple with Oranges. That was a campaign convoy with party men being paid withoutgovernment funding. Show us PO convoy as a governor or government official or just shurrup, Ogbeni Tinubuwins2023e: |
Shuruup you bigot! What do you know about Niger Delta? Senator Chinedu Nwoko is a Prince of the famous Idumuje Ugboko Kingdom in Aniocha - Anioma and a proud Igboman. Instead of cunningly trying to divide the the great Igbo Nation, spend more of your efforts in recovering your home town Ilorin from enslaving Gambari domination. Ewu gambia! Typing: |
The Odogwu of Ibusa, Delta State, Dr. Nwankwo Nwaezeigwe is a proud Igboman from the great Anioma Igbo sub-group of the Niger Delta. I am a proud Riversman from the Ochie Igbo sub-group of the great Igbo nation. I am an Igboman to the core. Who are you and please tell us what ethnic group you are from? AuschwitzPrefec: |
Anu nam Nwanne! Chikaa, ma mma!! mightyhaze: |
You are an ethnic bigot and irredentist! I know you and your ilks have taken over this educative forum and I will not ignore this old man. It is on record that Imo state governor Hope Uzodimma and Igbo Professionals gifted Tinubu a billion Naira during the election. Tinubu was so overwhelmed that he made the now famous Townhall Bala Blu speech on that occassion. No Igbo governor gave Peter Obi or Atiku any kobo as far as I know. Governor Umahi of Ebonyi supported Tinubu and helped him in all ramifications. We have many other Igbo supporters of Tinubu and an old man like you is here condemning a whole race as if they nominated Obi or any other Tinubu opponent. In my state, our former Governor Nyerisi Wike had to jettison his age long friendship with Obi and supported Tinubu at the detriment of even loosing electing his nephew. You are here talking nonsense as if only your ethnic group helped Tinubu. Tinubu should appoint other qualified Nigerians irrespective of ethnic background. Chikina!! Why are you bent on making enemies for Tinubu because of political differences. Grayoso: |
I have been reading this useless banter about people not wanting Akpabio to be Senate President. I think you folks misunderstood the whole thing. I do not think that the Igbos do not like Akpabio as a person but they hate his politics and corruption. Same would happen if Okorocha, Amaechi or Orji Kalu is presented. For your information, Akpabio extended family regards Enugu as their second home. His uncle, Dr. I. U. Akpabio, was a super Minister of Education/Internal Affairs in the then Eastern Nigeria and Godswill himself married his wife Ufuoma from Enugu state. In fact the family have a street named after them in the coal city. Akpabio has unresolved corruption case hanging on his neck. Tinubu should not have supported such a person he could blackmail to be the senate President So when our people in South South and South East kick against someone. We do that base on someone’s antecedents and this has nothing to do with him being from the Annang ethnic group, from South South region or Tinubu nominating him. Zxcvbnmghtr: |
We heard lots of this statement during Bubu's time and you know how it ended. fayomim: |
President Bola Tinubu has made more than 25 critical appointments since he took office with the key strategic ones allocated to Yorubas. One question one should be asking is if this is the Nigeria of ZIk, Belewa, Awolowo, Gowon, Murtala, Babagida and Obasanjo? Where is the much touted Nigeria Unity if the sophisticated Yoruba race are comfortable having their kinsmen occupy all strategic Military, Political and economic positions. Candidate Tinubu regales himself as being pan Nigeria, does he not trust other Nigerians enough like Buhari to have them appointed into this strategic positions too? Even during military rule, one can see clearly Nigeria never witnessed such nepotistic and lopsided appointments as we are seeing with the recent APC led governments. Where are the Binis, Ijaw, Jukun, etc in this equation? I hope he retraces his steps as soon as possible otherwise his failure would be greater than Buhari failed regime. Do you think that Tinubu is just fulfilling his promised of continuing where Buhari Stopped. Please check the lists below and see if we are not stumbling from Fulanisation policy to Yorubanisation?
