We had some folks like you that came to claim that our Ochie(Etchie) people came from Bini through Akalaka. These people believe in the mystical Akalaka forebear which actually gained traction after the civil war. My granddad told me that Akalaka was a fringe discussion before the civil war but was mainstreamed as a way of people differentiating themselves from the larger Igbo group.

In Ogba, the then Eze Ogba on ascension to the throne of his forebears even have to change his royal designation from Eze Ogba to Oba for the then Military government to recognised him. I am sure you have noticed that Eze Ogba is gradually being inserted back in parenesis in the current revered royal father. HIS EMINENCE. OBA BRR. NWACHUKWU NNAM OBI III. OBA (EZE OGBA) OF OGBA LAND.

I am not here to banter the Akalaka story in Ikwerre, Ogba, Ekpeye and even in my Etche. There is also the Ezechima story in Onitsha and the Anioma axis with some folks claiming Bini as you are here generalising and many asserting their Igbo identity.
I do not speak for any Igboid group. I speak for myself. I am not ashamed to say I am an Igbo. I do not generalised for others. I have also read history and listen to our elders. I know, that no ethnic nationality in ONELGA and Ekpeye speaks or have anything near Bini language and culture. The language, Culture and Tradition is Igbo. Anyone can makes his or her conclusions.

I can actually refer you to a good book on Ogba by one of the greatest sons of Ali- Ogba by Name Francis Ellah. “Ali-Ogba: A History of Ogba People”. Francis Ellah was a Chieftain of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo until his death. I also learned that his family and many other prominent Nde Ogba identify as Igbo.

Ikwerre is Ikwerre. I'm from Omoku in Rivers state and I schooled in the East few years ago, and my friends (Igbos) always say that our language is familiar, and it is familiar. But it doesn't change our origin.

We have similar culture and names with the Igbos too because of the proximity.

We should not forget that the Bible was predominantly translated to Igbo around our region, so lots of people had to learn Igbo, and they started giving their kids Igbo names.

All in all, there are no Igbos in Rivers, because we share similarities doesn't mean we are the same.

Eze Wodo added that the State needed peace to accelerate inclusive development in all sectors of the economy, stressing that only those who do not wish the State well will promote discord to distract the Government from delivering on its mandate to the people of the State.



While welcoming the Monarch to Government House, Governor Siminalayi Fubara assured him of the deliberate policy of his Administration to respect traditional institutions and elders, and carry all Rivers men and women along in the implementation of its policies and programmes.



He said that the doors of Government House were open to all those who love peace and development of the State.

Normally I do not engage myself with petty Rivers State Oil and Gas inspired Politics of ethnic Nationalities but my problem with you is that I rarely see you engaged the Ijaws when they term Kalabari, Ibani and Wakrike Ethnic Nationalities as Ijaw or Ijoid.

I never read where the OPs or proponents of Igboid world talk about succession here. I am not a proponent of Biafra and many people I know mention Ikwerre and other Igboid Ethnic nationalities in the context of Igbo unity just as the great Ijaw Nation is doing in most of our riverine areas.


As a self appointed defender of Rivers Ethnic Nationalities, I would want to see you rise up and critize Ijaws from Bayelsa and elsewhere equally as you do to Igbos from the South East region.


As I normally advise my friends and others, If you have problems with Ipob, go to their webpage and comfront them. Nairaland is for Nigerians and others to get unbiased and accurate information.

If you are not confortable with Igbos, then that is your cup of tea. Do not generalised. You are not Ikwerres spokesperson.

In reference to the thread above, Peter Obi may be fined for wasting court's time. As in, how can a presidential candidate not having the total figure of the votes he received to have secured the first position in the 2023 presidential election. Not even presentation of the 24 states he secured 25% to court.
