The former Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara State, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has been reported dead.

DAILY POST learnt that he passed on while receiving medical treatment in Egypt.

The monarch was rushed to Egypt few days ago when his family members noticed that his health was deteriorating and needed urgent medication.

According to the family source, the monarch died last Friday.

The source explained that his remains would be taken back to his home in Zurmi Local Government Area of the State for burial according to Islamic tradition.

DAILY POST reports that no official statement has been issued by the State government over the death of the dethroned Emir.

Recall that Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle sacked the monarch over alleged involvement in banditry activities.

He was detained in the Government House for some months.

The Emir and two other monarchs were later charged to court by the State government due to pressure from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

They were granted bail by the court.

Barcelona star, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, suffers fresh assault as armed robbers attack home

Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was early Monday attack during violent robbery inside his house in the Spanish city.

The armed men broke into his home and beating him, according to report from Spain.

El Pais reports that at least four men climbed into his garden and threatened him with firearms and iron bars – and the crooks escaped with jewels after gaining access to the player’s safe.

Aubameyang – who joined the club from Arsenal in January – was assaulted by the men in front of his wife, the report claims, with the criminals escaping in a white Audi A3.

The Gabonese international has been a victim of similar incident in the past.

A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, refused to grant the extradition application filed by the Federal Government for permission to extradite the suspended DCP Abba Kyari to the United States (US).

Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment, described the extradition request as “an abuse of court process,” on the grounds that Kyari was already standing a criminal trial before another court.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the U.S. the Federal Government, through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), had filed the extradition suit, praying the court to grant the plea for Kyari to face a criminal charge levelled against him by the U.S. government.

The U.S. authorities had applied to the Nigerian government for Kyari’s extradition in relation to his alleged link with suspected international fraudster, Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.

NAN also reports that the suspended DCP is also facing a criminal trial on allegations of drug deal filed against him and others by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Central District of California, Los Angeles, had recently confirmed that Hushpuppi would be sentenced on Sept. 21.(NAN)

Bola Tinubu, the presidential standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, appears stupid to everyone in Nigeria, says his campaign organisation.

Specifically, the APC presidential campaign council’s spokesman Festus Keyamo said he and other APC members were proud to look stupid campaigning for Mr Tinubu.

“People say you can’t campaign for Asiwaju without looking stupid. I have heard such comment and I love that comment a lot. So, we are proud to look stupid. To campaign for a genius who appears stupid to everybody now,” Mr Keyamo stated.

His comments came on the heels of Dino Melaye’s criticism that based on President Muhammadu Buhari’s abysmal performance, anyone campaigning for APC’s presidential candidate, Mr Tinubu, would look stupid.

Mr Melaye is a spokesman for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign organisation.

Reacting to Mr Melaye’s comment in an interview with ThisDay, Mr Keyamo said, “You know why I love that comment that you can’t look stupid? Because only geniuses look stupid. The Newtons of this world looked stupid.”

The junior labour minister, however, declared that Mr Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, would be the easiest presidential candidate to campaign for ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to him, facts and figures support Mr Tinubu’s presidential candidature.

“I have said it on different fora that Asiwaju is the easiest candidate to market. On the surface, people just thought like ‘is this guy joking? Is he insane?’,” added Mr Keyamo. “By the time we begin to roll out the records, the facts and the figures, it will now become clear that nobody is close to Asiwaju.”

Before now, Mr Keyamo had said Mr Tinubu would run Nigeria exactly like Mr Buhari’s regime.

Former APC chair Adams Oshiomhole had tried to distance Mr Tinubu from the failure of the Buhari regime. But Mr Keyamo insisted the media misinterpreted Mr Oshiomhole’s statement.

“It is the same APC template that both leaders (Buhari and Tinubu) that they will use,” Mr Keyamo said in an interview on Channels TV. “I saw one misleading headline from one of the papers yesterday, and I laughed. It was misleading, misinterpreting what one of our leaders said. That we were distancing ourselves from the records of Buhari, that is utter nonsense.”

Mallam Who Eloped With 11-Year-Old Girl Says: ‘I Fell In Love With Her At First Sight And Wanted To Marry Her’

An Islamic teacher, Yashir Abubakar, who was arrested by policemen in Kano State Police Command after he disappeared with an 11-year-old girl (name withheld), told the law enforcement agents that what made him take the step was the love he felt for the girl at first sight.

The suspect was arrested in Kebbi State where he was eventually traced to, after the girl’s father reported to the police that her daughter, aged 11, living with him in Kano could not be found.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who gave the details of the arrest, said that the girl’s father said that the suspect, aged 38, asked his daughter to accompany him to a place, which he approved of, with his belief that he was a Quranic teacher.

The father further said that since then, his daughter’s whereabouts had been unknown.

Not only that , Kiyawa stated, Abubakar, who claimed to be a Quranic teacher, was also found to have obtained money from people under false pretences to the tune of over a million naira, and had lured the 11-year-old girl when he wanted to escape to Kebbi State.

The report was said to have made acting Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Abubakar Zubairu, to detail policemen to track him.

The police spokesman said that he was eventually found at Yauri in Kebbi, arrested and brought back to Kano.

The PPRO also disclosed that when Abubakar first came to Kano, he was with a girl called Wurera whom he claimed to be his wife.

Investigation revealed that he and Wurera were not legitimate couple but staying together as lovers, prompting the acting CP to direct that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.


In an interview with the Quranic teacher, he expressed regret at the step he took without thinking of its consequences.

Narrating how it started, Abubakar said that as a Mallam, he moved from Zamfara State, his state of origin, to Warri in Delta State where he took Wurera and stayed for about eight months.

Giving the age of Wurera as 21, he admitted not being married to her traditionally or in religious manner, saying that he just picked her up to be acting as his wife.

He said, “My father was the one who taught me to be a Mallam. I also learnt the teachings from a Mallam in Gusau for two years.

He also admitted  obtaining money under false pretence but did not specifically say how he did it.

He spoke with regret, saying that it was disobedience to his day that brought about his predicament.

“I’m from a polygamous family. My father has four wives, but my mother is his first wife. I was having problems with him because of the other wives who always look down on and ridicule my mother.

“Whenever that happened, I would defend my mother but whenever the wives reported me to my father on the issues, he was not always happy with me, with him supporting the younger wives. At a point, he told me to leave his house, saying that I should go and establish Quranic school somewhere since I had already been taught. That was why I left Zamfara.

“I regret all that I did. Staying with a woman without being married to her is a sin in our  Islamic teaching,” the suspect further said in the interview.

He advised other Islamic clerics having issues with their parents to go back and settle the differences.

The girl with whom he came to Kano, Wurera, in her explanation admitted not being married to the Islamic teacher but just staying together in towns visited.

According to Wurera, “I met Mallam when one of my friends told me that he was interested in me. My friend gave me his number and we started communicating.

“One day, I deceived my father that I was going to my maternal aunt’s place in Kano. My father knew I was lying but I convinced him. He was even the one who took me to the train station and paid my fare to Kano from Kebbi State.

“On getting to Kano, I linked up with the Mallam and we started living together as husband and wife.

“I didn’t know what transpired between him and the 11-year-old girl. All I knew was that he told me we were returning to Yauri in Kebbi. He picked the girl when we were going. But I didn’t see him do anything with her.

My parents were not privy to his moves with me, and I knew that I have put myself in a big mess. He did not marry me properly and my parents didn’t know him.”

The Anambra State governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2021 poll, Senator Andy Uba, Friday, dismissed allegations making rounds on the social media that he loaned N50 million from Engr. Arthur Eze to finance Senatorial ambition in 2015 poll.

Uba, who represented Anambra South between 2011 to 2019, in a statement, described the trending report as defamatory, maligning and character injurious publications, and urged the public to disregard it as he would seek justice, fair play and equity.

According to the Senator, the N50 million in question was a freewill donation which Eze made to St. James Anglican Church Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, in the build-up to 2015 general elections, and even when the matter was brought before the court, it was later settled out of court in brotherly agreement.

The statement read in part, “My attention has been drawn to the defamatory, maligning and character injurious publications in the print and electronic medium, as well as social media platforms on malicious falsehood and allegations arising from the execution of the judgement of the High Court of Anambra State in suit No: AG/94/2016, through the bailiffs of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja on 23/8/2022.

“It is fundamentally imperative to unequivocally state in clear and categorical terms the true factual position, thus. For the avoidance of doubt, I never borrowed N50,000,000 (fifty million naira only) from prince Arthur Eze, both of us only attended a church service at St. James Anglican Church Uga, Aguata L.G.A, Anambra State during my senatorial campaign in the build-up to 2015 general elections.

“In the course of the said church service, Prince Arthur Eze donated N50,000,000 to support my senatorial political campaign on the altar and the entire congregant was engulfed with joy and happiness which made the officiating priest extend a warm handshake of gratitude and appreciation for his kind gesture and I equally sent a letter of appreciation dated 22/2/2015 to Prince Arthur Eze.

“It is shocking and baffling how a man will stand on the sacred altar of God and donate to the political aspiration and campaign of his brother, of which the officiating priest extended a warm handshake of gratitude and appreciation for his kind gesture and later turn around to deny the purpose of the donation. I, therefore, call on the general public, men and women of goodwill as well as political friends and supporters, business associates and family members, with an enduring passion for justice, fair play and equity, to remain calm.”
