The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said President Muhammadu Buhari approved the constructing a Friday mosque for herdsmen in Borno to meet the demand of a displaced community. The ministry, according to News Agency of Nigeria, explained that the centre was for a community of livestock farmers displaced by Boko Haram insurgents resettled in the Ngarannam/Mafa local government area of Borno. The Director of Information in the ministry, Theodore Ogaziechi, revealed this in a statement on Thursday. He noted that the ministry’s memo approving N30 million to construct a Friday mosque was an official document available for public scrutiny and review. “Our attention has been drawn to an online publication by a newspaper alleging that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has come under fire on social media following a leaked memo conveying the approval of N30m for the construction of a Friday mosque with taxpayers’ fund. “In addition, a government official memo, dated December 10, 2020 with ref. No. FMA/PROC/AHS/SIP/2020/7742/1 stating that the Ministerial Tenders Board approved the contract, was displayed on the platform,” the government said. The statement further explained, “To put the facts straight, the memo is authentic and appropriate in all ramifications. “It is original and was issued by the ministry for the construction of a worship centre for a community of livestock farmers who were sacked and displaced in Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents and are being resettled in Ngarannam/Mafa local government, Borno. “Apart from the mosque, other common facilities provided for the livestock farmers in the community include solar-powered boreholes with overhead tanks and drinking troughs for their cattle and small ruminants.” According to the federal government, the provision of “water harvesting structures, milk collection centre, resettlement abode” and other infrastructure will ensure the herdsmen are “properly” settled and rehabilitated. “The construction of the mosque was a special request from the community through the Borno State Government to avoid moving too far from the settlement areas for prayers and also to ensure their safety and contact with the insurgents,” the statement revealed. “The memo is an official document, and it is available for public scrutiny and review. It is, therefore, unfortunate for anyone to presume that the memo leaked. “The ministry is in no way perturbed about the matter because it received appropriate approval, carried out due needs assessment and ensured due process in the execution of the project. https://hallmarknews.com/buhari-approved-n30m-for-mosque-centre-for-herdsmen-minister/ |

ygowon:I wish i had done the same.......for example: The Biafran and Ambazonian movements are both fractured, and not all factions support the alliance and rising violence. Spokespeople from the self-proclaimed Interim Government of Ambazonia, the other major Anglophone separatist group, and the Customary Government of IPOB have denounced the alliance and proclaimed that the leaders involved are “impostors.” Sloppy journalism..... |

A video of chairman of the Lagos State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) MC Oluomo proclaiming his marriage rites with a certain woman has surfaced on social media. Oluomo, real name Musiliu Akinsanya raised eyebrows after the video emerged online, because the woman in the video was not his lover, businesswoman Ehi Ogbebor. The quiet ceremony in Lagos is coming several months after Ogbebor, an interior decorator, went public with her relationship with Oluomo. In the video, MC and the new wife donned the same colours of fabric as Muslim clerics joined them in holy matrimony. The event truly looked intimate as it was conducted in a small space with few people in attendance which is not typical of Oluomo, considering the NURTW boss’ status in society. Ogbebor was married as a forth wife to a billionaire, Ken Braimor whom she accused of being a ritualist. A couple of months ago, she took to the social media platform, Instagram to publish a video on social media to fuel speculations about her relationship with the NURTW chairman, MC Ouluomo. A while later she wrote on Instagram; Get it right… I don’t care about your freaken opinion. News or blogging is only credibl when its in secret. Its aint news… Kiss my ass. Crazy in love. Madly in love. Love see no-fault. An adult living her life and enjoying the best of it. There is more important news. Ehi also celebrated Oluomo’s birthday in a grand style, showing off some of the romantic moments they’ve spent together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaZp3EvOISA&t=8s https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/mc-oluomo-ties-the-knot-amid-relationship-with-ehi-ogbebor/ |

Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, says the clamour for secession in some parts of Nigeria is unacceptable. Mohammed spoke on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the 2021 annual general meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Bauchi. While the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is seeking secession of the south-east, some Yoruba campaigners are agitating for the breakaway of the south-west. Mohammed noted that while it is “rational and ideal” for citizens to call for restructuring and true federalism, calls for secession are intolerable. He said the federal government has set necessary mechanisms in motion to tackle insecurity and that Nigeria can overcome its problems. “While it is alright for citizens to call for restructuring and true federalism, what is not acceptable is the call in certain quarters for secession,” Mohammed said. “Whatever challenges we have today as a nation, can and will be surmounted. In fact, the federal government had set in motion the necessary machinery to tackle the challenge of insecurity. “We should therefore not allow today’s challenges, whether in the area of economy or security, to jeopardise our unity.” The minister enjoined the NIPR to use its platform to work for the unity of Nigeria. “That task has never been more urgent than now against the background of discordant voices in the country and calls for separation,” Mohammed said. “I see NIPR as a capable partner in government’s effort to douse the tension in the land and beat the drum of unity rather than the drum of war. “May I also repeat my call to NIPR to raise voice against those fanning the embers of disunity and discord in the country. Without a country that is peaceful and secured, there can be no development. “This administration is doing everything possible to return peace and security across the country.” He encouraged the NIPR to partner with the federal government in the fight against fake news, misinformation and hate speech. https://www.thecable.ng/lai-calls-for-restructuring-rational-but-secession-unacceptable |
