Crime › Police Arrest 45-year-old Dad For Raping Daughter, 13, In Ogun by NwaNimo1(op): 7:37pm On Jan 05, 2021
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Akanji Oluwaseyi, for allegedly defiling his 13-year-old daughter in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta.

The police said the arrest of the suspect followed a complaint from the victim who reported at the Obantoko divisional headquarters that her father committed the crime on December 30.

The victim narrated that she was working as an apprentice tailor, and that her father visited the place on the fateful day and asked her mistress to permit her to fetch some water for him at home.

According to the police, the teenager said after she had finished fetching the water, her father, however, “suddenly grabbed her and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.”

The Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

He said, “On the strength of the report, the Divisional Police Officer of the Obantoko division, quickly detailed detectives to the man’s house where he was promptly arrested. He initially denied the allegation but when he was confronted by the victim, he became dumbfounded.

The victim was quickly taken to Olukoya hospital for medical attention.”

Politics › Release Sowore Or Yoruba Nation Will Rise Against Your Government, Ibadan Chief by NwaNimo1(op): 4:27pm On Jan 05, 2021
A chief in Ibadan, Oyo State, Mogaji Wale Oladoja, has said the recent arrest of the Convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, by the Nigerian government shows that President Muhammadu Buhari has not changed as a former military dictator.

He advised the Nigerian government to release Sowore and others arrested by its agencies so as not to incur the full wrath of the youth.

Oladoja in a statement in Ibadan, Oyo State on Monday, said Buhari and other government officials should consider their future in Nigeria in whatever decision they take.

The Ibadan-born chief said it was still unclear to him why Buhari had been treating Nigerians like aliens, adding that nobody was arrested or harassed him when he led a protest in Kaduna in 2012.

He said, "We all know the role Buhari played in demarketing former President Goodluck Jonathan by going from one place to the other protesting. Today, he cannot tolerate Nigerians again. It is their right to protest against bad governance, insecurity, nepotism and even unreasonable policies of government.

"It is time for Buhari and his cabinet to retrace their steps and ensure that Nigerians are not treated as second-class citizens in their own country. Buhari should release Sowore and all others who were kidnapped, in the next few hours before the Yoruba nation rises against his government.

"We have had enough of his dictatorship in Nigeria. The likes of Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), Olisa Metuh and many more are victims of Buhari's inhumane treatment. It is time for Buhari to change his ways of doing things and embrace democratic leadership before it is too late."

Crime › Nigerian Woman Allegedly Kills Four-year-old Son In UK by NwaNimo1(op): 4:18pm On Jan 05, 2021
A 36-year-old Nigerian, Oluwakemi Badare, has allegedly killed her four-year-old son, Kingswealth Bayode, in Plumstead, South East London, United Kingdom.

Met Police in a statement said the boy’s body was found at a flat at Invermore Place on Sunday morning.

According to the BBC, Oluwakemi is facing a charge of killing her son.

Ms Badare did not appear in court but has been remanded into custody ahead of a plea hearing on March 17.

According to an unconfirmed online report, Oluwakemi in 2017 put the late Kingswealth in hot water and was sanctioned.

She was said to have spent a year in an unnamed psychiatric hospital in the UK.

“In 2017, she was sanctioned for putting him in hot water. Social services took her son and she was in a psychiatric hospital for a year and two months. No one saw this coming and she is now in prison for murder and the poor boy is dead,” the report read.

“Unfortunately, Oluwakemi will now have to live with the fact that she killed her own son. In her sane moments, she will never forget or forgive herself. Her husband and older son are far away in Nigeria.

“If only they had known that her mental health was that bad, things could have been different. King could have been protected from the one who loved him more than anyone but would turn out to be the one to take his life due to no fault of her own. Depression is real.”
