"We have put ourselves in a great position and in a great vein of form," he concludes. "We are confident, we trust ourselves, and we are ready for these games now." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"You have got to have different ways of winning games and with our squad you can pick players who suit this team and that team. “I knew the gaffer was like that. I have always been like this myself back home in Molde. It was different at Cardiff because you had to take one game at a time and try to claw a point here or there. "But now you do plan ahead and I think I have got my team quite ready for the full month. Depending on form as well, I think I have more or less picked my team.” - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"Goals are scored by counter-attacks, set plays and breaking teams down when they drop deep, so you need to have all those three aspects. "The way we play with pace and power, we should never forget our history of counter-attacking, even though we are one of the teams that want to dominate games. "If teams drop deep we need to have a way of playing against those teams but also when we defend we defend to win the ball to counter-attack quickly. "To win games you need to pass it forward and run forward." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"Me and Mick came in and of course we wanted to bring a confidence into the players that we trust them because we do. They are here because they are special. Manchester United never sign players if they don't have any uniqueness or X factor about them. We should never forget what badge they are wearing because they are special. "So we speak to them and encourage them individually but giving players confidence by speaking to them is one thing. They need to feel this is working. They have done it by themselves. They scored the goals against Cardiff and enjoyed it. That gave them a big boost, of course.” - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"You have to find a way to win a game. That’s not up to me or Mick or Kieran or Michael to tell them beforehand. "Every game is different. We might score the first goal and it's a different game. They might score the first goal and it's a different game. So they have got to make decisions out there based on their experiences and qualities." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"Whether it is back home with my daughter’s team or it's this, I just love working with footballers who want to improve. I love speaking to them and giving them my help and my thoughts. That's what coaching is about. It’s about improving players. It’s not about anything but that really. “I love the one-on-ones but it’s not just me. It's Kieran, it's Michael, it's Mark, it's Mick, it's Emilio. We are a big staff. Of course, I make the decisions but I give them the confidence and the responsibility. We have different players who we speak to. "There is not a lot that I can tell David de Gea about goalkeeping that he does not know." Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
“That was one of the mistakes I made at Cardiff [overhaul change of back. I wanted to go into my way straight away. So, Mick, me and Demps have come in and we didn’t want to change too much too early because with change there is always a danger that you do too much. "Kieran and Michael are great. They were here from before, so they and Emilio were important for us because they knew what they had been doing. “I know that we all have different strengths and qualities. With Kieran and Michael, they need to be able to give their best and they are fantastic coaches, I have to say. The analysis staff too. Everything is in place for the club to be successful so that’s been brilliant for me. "I know I can trust them." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"It is easier here because I know what the DNA and identity of Manchester United is and what a Manchester United player is. But what exactly is that identity? "It’s a winning identity. It’s a confident identity. We want to take risks. We want to go for the second, the third and the fourth goal because that’s just how we do things at Manchester United. If you can’t handle that then you are at the wrong club.” - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"I know the culture and identity of the club and the playing style. Manchester United, of course, suits me a lot more than a club that struggles towards the bottom of the table. I wasn’t ready for that fight. I didn’t say I wasn’t ready for the Premier League. That's different. "My belief is to trust players and to trust them to play the right way. To try to dominate teams, to try to win games the right way. To play the way that we do now with Manchester United. I should have flipped that mentality into a different one at a team that struggles against relegation if you know what I mean." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
“Even though we have different players, Marcus and Anthony are not very different to Cristiano and Wayne. Jesse with his pace and Ji-Sung, there are so many similarities, and we should never forget those games [won on counter-attacks] because they are part of our history.” - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
![]() Pay no Attention, and the Infestation would die naturally! Nice Job Icon4s, kudos to Everyone on this wonderful Thread. |

abiodunakande19: ![]() Arsenal will pay £35m to get him. Aside from Laurent, no other Arsenal Defender is better than him. |
![]() Hesben dey yarn about using sense......?! Wonder shall never End! LMAO!
|
![]() To me, United Board should go all out to get Koulibally in the Summer. Sell Darmian for £12m, Jones £25m, Rojo £20m, Smalling £23m plus the $$$ earned from the Sales of Fellaini. Really can't wait to have the Lad at United. So calm on the Call, strong in the Air, Mobile and an excellent Tackler. |

Odunayaw: ![]() We all want the best for the National Teams Bruh, but its so saddening we are refusing to learn from the past Experience. Did anyone expect or predict Qatar to be an Asia Champion?! Against all Odds.... They won the Trophy at the Expense of Japan. They started from the Scratch. The Tournament highest Goals Scorer with a record-breaking of 9 Goals - Alli - is 22yrs old. All the best to them. I pray they excel, qualify for the World, star and gain the Attentions of Clubs in Cyprus, Belarus, Slovakia, Belgium, Turkey, Austria and co - as well as get signed up. Most of them have peaked already, so no need hoping for them to represent us beyond this Grade. I pray Manu Garba would do us proud as usual. |
TP has destroyed Club Africain.... 6 goals to nil already..... Perhaps more to come. |
Mickael2: ![]() ....... Sorry to vex you, they are under 20 obviously. Guess you are satisfied now?! I do not get time to argue baselessly with anyone. I agree they are genuinely under 20. |
![]() Only Nasifi Yahaya is perhaps U20 in the Squad.... Others are above 20s, and few are in their late 30s already |
![]() I was called Names when I complained earlier on this Thread. I wonder why some of us think we are more patriotic than the rest. Tbaba1234..... Can you explain what you mean by "your U20..........?!" |
Manchester United has provided the Premier League with an updated first-team squad list for the remainder of the 2018/19 season. Senior squad list: Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Sergio Romero. Defenders: Eric Bailly, Matteo Darmian, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia. Midfielders: Fred, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Forwards: Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez. _______________________________________________ Homegrown list: Goalkeeper: Lee Grant. Defenders: Phil Jones, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young. Midfielders: Jesse Lingard, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba. Forwards: Romelu Lukaku. _______________________________________________ Under-21 list: Defender: Diogo Dalot. Forward: Marcus Rashford. Of course, other youngsters who fall into this category are also available for selection. |
"We’ve not had a proper session since the game so hopefully both of them can get through that I don’t think there’s anything with Paul. "Anthony will do some rehab work I would imagine him to be involved, he seemed happy yesterday." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"They [Leicester] beat Chelsea. I watched the game Wednesday night, team full of energy pace, they defend well, drop back and defend so hard to break them down and they’ve got the pace up front so it’s gonna be a tough challenge but we like challenges." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"Definitely [Martial can play centrally], because Anthony’s preferred position would probably be a number nine, most of them want to play through the middle, but where you put out from the start it’s more the defensive position, we want them to rotate, interchange, you’ve got to get into the box to score." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"It’s very equipped [the Squad],we’ve had now six weeks together, found out what strengths weaknesses we’ve got, we’ve risen to most of the challenges, maybe the setback of the Burnley goals we conceded, make us move to the next level because we’ve given ourselves a chance now to get into the top four earlier than we thought but there’s not too many games, tough opposition. We start with this game against Liverpool, Fulham away as well and then the three big ones with PSG, Liverpool and Chelsea, Palace away, it’s a tough month but we’re ready, I’ve got a big squad, it’s only Marcos Rojo now who’s out for a period." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"It didn’t surprise me [mid-week results], always happens in Premier League, anyone can beat anyone, we went up to Newcastle beat them and they go and beat City so every single game here you’ve got to be spot on, two or three instances cost us against Burnley." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
"Healthy competition [is between Martial and Rashford] but also they can create a relationship. They can play for many years together, hopefully. "They can feed off each other because both are very good at coming off the left. If one plays central the other can do opposite movements. "I think in the coming years we'll see loads of combinations between those two." - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
