Q: What are your thoughts on Harry Kane? OGS: He’s not bad is he? He’s a fantastic goalscorer, one of the best in the world to play up there, but then again I’ve got a couple I’m happy to work with. Having players like him, he’s a top top professional, whoever plays with him and trains with him can talk more about him but from the outside he’s a fantastic finisher, he never misses chances really so let’s make sure he doesn’t get any against us. |
Q: How would you assess the job Mauricio Pochettino has done at Tottenham? OGS: He’s done a very good job, he’s one of the... the speculation is there for a reason because he’s done well but it’s not my job to rate different managers. My focus is on me and my team. |
Q: Have you made this team into your United team? OGS: I think every single day and every game will get us closer and closer and we’ll get more of an understanding of how we want to play. The past five games haven’t been bad but there’s always things to work on, relationships, cohesion, so hopefully we’ll see a positive team. |
Q: Can you update us on Marcos Rojo's situation? OGS: He’s gone back to Argentina for a while with his injury so how long is a piece of rope, it was mentally important for him to get away and come back fresh again. |
Q: Is Paul Pogba fit? OGS: He looked ok towards the end so he’ll be fit. He did have some problems but came through the last couple of sessions well. |
Q: How was Dubai? OGS: Very good, very good, we had four good days of training, so I think the boys enjoyed it, we put a few principles down and they worked hard and enjoy working hard. |

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a world-record £225m price tag on Christian Eriksen, according to AS. Real Madrid reportedly view Eriksen as the ideal replacement for Luka Modric but are not willing to fork out such a fee for the 26-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his current Spurs contract. ![]() We should stop dreaming of Poch as a possible United Manager, rather keep our Hopes alive on OGS to turn a super Manager. |
Ander Herrera is in talks with Manchester United over a new contract, Sky Sports News understands, despite interest from Athletic Bilbao over the midfielder. The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer, but is happy to continue with talks at Old Trafford in the hope of reaching a deal. |
“Ole’s got that personality that rubs off on everybody, he’s so positive, he’s so upbeat all the time. I think you can see that rubbing off on individuals, and that goes a long way to bringing the best out of the players.” - Michael Carrick |
“It’s nice to see Mike. He’s the calm, wise head really around the place now. He’s been there, he’s seen and done it all, especially at this club with the ins and outs, he knows exactly what to do at the right time, so he’s had a big influence over the last few weeks.” - Michael Carrick |
“I must say Kieran has been a big help, because he’s an experienced coach and he’s helped me out. "As you’d expect, for me, it’s quite new and I am learning on the job a little bit, and he’s been fantastic. "He’s a terrific coach and he’s passed on a lot of things already to me. Even though he’s younger than me, he’s a lot more experienced on this side of things. - Michael Carrick |
“As you can imagine, it’s quite a happy camp. When you're winning football matches, you can’t put a price on the feeling that gives you, and the confidence and the belief. “You almost sense a calmness when you’re winning games. It’s great to see the lads enjoying themselves. The football’s flowing, the training’s good, they’re bouncing around the place, and it’s nice to see.” - Michael Carrick |
Transfer Update Kalidou Koulibaly remains a target for Manchester United, according to France Football. The Napoli centre-back has attracted interest from a host of clubs but United are determined to fight off stiff competition and land the Senegal international. Although United are not expected to have a busy window this month, the club’s hierarchy would be willing to spend big on the 27-year-old. |

“Yes, Sir Alex came in [to training] and I think that was important. Ole isn’t afraid to take on board things from him – it’s a privilege to have someone like that around. "I’ve worked with him very closely and he’s always been there for coaches like myself and for Ole and a lot of others. I think it was refreshing for Sir Alex too, he had a smile on his a face and wanting to get that energy and football brain ticking over again. It was really good.” - Mike Phelan |
“I’m sure we’re going to see a lot of things we didn’t realise Ole had and that’s important as a manager. You have to get your point across, it’s not all a bed of roses, there will be ups and downs but I think everyone appreciates that. "The players have to understand that at the end of the day he’s going to pick the team and he’s working for a massive football club and he’ll make decisions when he needs to.” - Mike Phelan |
“Everyone sees Ole as someone from yesteryear when he was that young, fresh-faced player but he’s matured a lot. He’s loved being a football manager and it doesn’t matter where you go as a manager or where you are in the world, you still have to manage. "He’s come into this and of course it’s a bigger deal, but he’s taking everything in his stride. He has his own ideas and his own way of thinking and because we’ve got myself, Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna, it all blends really well. They play a big part as well, Michael and Kieran.” - Mike Phelan |
“Really good [working with OGS]. When I spoke to Ole we talked about what we can try to achieve in a short space of time and it’s gone better than we probably expected but also we have to say that the players have bought into things really, really well. "There’s a freshness about them, they’re listening and trying to take things on board and I think you can see that in the performances and results. We’re not there yet, there are still things we want to work on, but this is a great thing coming out to Dubai where we can have three or four days away from everything to concentrate on the job in hand and I think it’s working. It’s a good atmosphere.” - Mike Phelan |
"“He [Darmian] is the biggest plus ]against Reading]. Matteo looked like he had played there before for a long time. “As an Italian, he’s very cultural and very calm on the ball. He was one of the few that at times tried to settle us down and pass the ball. I don’t think he put a foot wrong.” - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
“Marcos [Rojo] has gone back home because his injury is taking a bit longer than we thought> “Fred['s partner] is expecting a baby and Paul [Pogba] has had his knock and has had a few days of treatment back home. “Hopefully, we can get Paul on his feet during this week.” - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
”Of course, everyone says we’ve won the last five games but [they have] not been [against] big opposition. But you can only beat the teams you play and, for us to get tested and go to the next level, you need those games. And if you want to win the FA Cup, you have to beat everybody. “Maybe one of the best FA Cup memories was against Arsenal at Villa Park when Peter [Schmeichel] saved that penalty towards the end and Giggsy’s dribble [for the winner]. “If they’d have beaten us, if Peter hadn’t saved the penalty, I think they probably would have gone on to win the Double and pipped us to the league. So I think that save of Peter’s was the catalyst for the Treble. “It’s a typically nice draw, just when you want a nice little home game! But if you want to get to the final or win these competitions, you’ve got to play and beat [the best teams] and we’ll look forward to going down there.” - Ole Gunner Solskjaer |
I honestly won't mind the pairing of Lindelof and Darmian as CBs. Both are good on the Ball, and Darmian is cool-headed, tall and good at tackling. Also, I hope Chong is giving more Chances, he's ready for the first Team, his hunger to be involved was apparent in the last Match. But the most ready among the young Guns is Gomez. |
