airmark: Oasis, is it true that El Rufai made that provocative statement about the reason behind Muslim-Muslim ticket? Learnt he was saying they did it because of enforcing Muslims dominance at Federal level, just like what happened in Kaduna. I doubt it. I have not seen or read any news on it. |

BREAKING: FG, TUC break deadlock on fuel subsidy, to reconvene Tuesday
The Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have made progress on the negotiations toward resolving dispute over the removal of fuel subsidy.
The Federal Government team and that of TUC led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo met on Sunday in a meeting that started at about 4pm and ended around 7.30pm.
Addressing the State House Press Corps after the meeting, Mr. Dele Alake who is part of the government negotiation team said much progress has been made in the talks with the TUC leaders.
He revealed that a major demand from TUC is wage increase for workers to accommodate the burden of rising cost of living the subsidy removal will bring noting that the Federal Government is not averse to wage increase as President Bola Tinubu himself had hinted on that during his meeting with governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday.
The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), led by Joe Ajaero didn’t attend the Sunday meeting with government team that had Mr. Wale Edun, Olayemi Cardoso, Group Managing Director of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, labour leader and former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole among others in attendance.
Mr. Alake said the meeting with TUC will resume on Tuesday after further consultations by both sides to firm up resolutions. |

Segedinho: Then he would definitely have been termed wicked n heartless for causing more pains........
Cos in all honesty,it is unrealistic for a 30k salaried man to survive ..........₦30k per week or month? I know situation in the country is bad, but how can Someone be comfortable with ₦30k per month?
What happens to alternative source of income like running POS business? Well, I strongly hope palliatives are in the plan and will be rolled out soon to cushioning the effects. |

It is beyond politics..it is all about humanity and a sense of understanding the effect of insensitivity of some policy especially when done at a very wrong time ....except the clip is longer than that, nothing of such. |

Like I usually say,I don't have time to trust any politician's manifesto ...I criticised and eulogies what I see n witness He clearly said he will remove it first day in office completely and gives his reasons. Very good reasons by the way. |

hopefulLandlord: I think your sense of reasoning about the cash crunch is being clouded by hindsight cuz at the time all these talks of cash swap happening because of election is purely speculative. official reason for the swap was that there's too much unaccounted for cash in the system and the swap would either make the owners bring the cash back into the system OR have their monies stop being a legal tender. Truth is we and the government at the time were very confused and don't know when the end in sight would come at the time, recall that the government made it clear that they intend to promote cashless economy and mop up excess liquidity. Now that you've seen the end you're now concluding like you knew the whole time how it was gonna end. did you at any point predict the old notes would later join the new in becoming legal tender? hindsight is such an amazingly beautiful thing, isn't it?
I also do find it unconscionable and disturbing how you rationalised deaths of people, destruction of properties, grounding of businesses just because you assumed these effects would've helped your Obi become president who will then turn this country into Dubai. This is a good sign you and your close family were immune from the effects and if it doesn't affect you then everyone else be damned and those damned People are sacrifices you're willing to make.
This is not to say I'm in support of Tinubu's actions however even Obi that you support made it clear that he would've immediately removed subsidy when he becomes president so there's no reason to believe he wouldn't have done exactly what Tinubu just did. of course, you can debate what he means by "immediately" all day. be my guest 👍 |

Donjazet2: Of course the native herbalist fails not to disappoint as usual. Comparing oranges and apples. Permanent fuel subsidy removal is different from TEMPORAL cash scarcity.
Obidients and nigerians at large understood and endured willingly, the pain of naira scarcity because we all could see the end of the tunnel.
We all knew and believed that cash crunch on election day could be a good thing in a country where people were ready to sell their votes for urgent 2k and corrupt wicked politicians with 2 bullion vans in their homes could do and undo, so we swallowed the pain of the cash crunch knowing that on or after election day, that problem will be over and hindsight has proven us correct. In as much as the election results were rigged and voter intimidation rampant, vote buying was severely curtailed in the last elections. We barely saw any video of people sharing cash on election day unlike previous elections.
Comparing that with this subsidy issue where even the government is confused on what to do next not to talk of ordinary nigerians not knowing what to do next or what is in store in the future exhibits your terrible partisanship which has beclouded your judgement. Do better, native abortion doctor. |

afrodoc2: Have you forgotten? Maybe because you are living in the abroad, so you don't remember. It happened not long ago.
That time that the little money that people had was locked away in banks and there was no money to buy food or medications. The time when people were scaling front fence to enter bank to beg for their own money while bank workers were scaling back fence to escape. The time that because people could not withdraw money from the bank they died before getting proper medical attention or were starving at home.
During that time this place was full of emojis, memes, gifs ati bee bee lo. I wonder what changed that struck such a chord in people's hearts that they are now so empathetic.
I wonder. I just wonder. They survived from December to March bruh. I remember every goddamn thing and the buffoon leading the charge then, is responsible for daily bad news on this board now. |

Segedinho: You said something about smugglers...who is to blame for porous border ?People are being paid to prevent illegal smuggling
If Nigeria is too complex to handle...who should resolve it the best he can...
When I say fuel diversion .I am not talking militancy bro but the corruption at its peak .....ships still come in for the purpose of moving crude that would definitely be unaccounted for....so who is to blame
Back to base...subsidy is the only thing the poor despite the corruption playing around in wch can be nipped by a determined FG.....
If you cannot put things in place to some extent... You have no business removing it even in d midst of distrust in the heart of the masses u are presiding over... Alright bruh....your points are as well valid. |

afrodoc2:

That your palliative statement was wrong sha. There are temporary measures the government can institute to soften the blow on the masses.
I was in support of subsidy removal in principle but i wanted it to be a step taken by Tinubu after a year in office by which time he would have put in place measures to minimise the suffering, rather than this fait accompli he inherited from Buhari.
Also, there is this belief that Nigerians can tolerate anything, but the truth is all human beings have an elastic limit. If the government does not carry the people along chaos and anarchy might ensue. I have retracted it, thanks to izzou. |

Segedinho: Like I said b4....smuggling is a crime that reflects the corruption we all are against....
It is the duty of the FG to capture the true amount we are supposed to consume then judtapose it with our expenditures to know if it is worth it or not.
Crude diversion/stolen is worse than subsidy....this must be treated b4 thinking of prosperity..
Diesel and kerosene ain't subsidised anymore buy the outcome of it isnt felt cos the FG didn't face he real problem wch is Crude dieversion......
In summary, Subsidy is among the least things to worry about if we really want to progress.. .....Ẹ̀gbọ́n! What are you saying for God's sake! Lets try to be realistic once in a while. Buhari shut borders, yet it has no effect on smugglings.
Nigeria borders are porous! From South, to West and North. How many personnel do we even have in Customs?
By the way, why FG is contracting Pipelines protection to Tompolo and co? Why not entrusting the job to navy alone?
We have talked about it several times, we need more bodies across all our security formations. Also we must change our mindsets, cutting corners to making money is seriously klling the country.
Nigeria is very complex and so hard to govern. Buhari even said its easier for him to control his cows than Nigerians.
Perhaps we should hire Trump to lead and build walls across our borders. Let's hope on palliatives to cushioning effects on the removal, because its not the least rather very major problem that must be tackled onces and for all. |

What does an average Nigerian paying tax enjoys...
Be truthful bro,do you think d subsidy funds really reflects the amount of fuel we are consuming ? .....of course not and that's why subsidy must go. I retract my objection against palliatives but subsidy? It must go!
