izzou: And this right here is the problem of Nigeria, and I don't blame you though
We have been conditioned to think then when people decide to be accountable, they are doing us a favour.
Somebody is probably studying Itsekiri education, instead of Biochemistry because of JAMB, but let's clap for JAMB for at least admitting their errors
No be Nigeria again? I cannot be shocked .....perhaps in your opinion, coz that actually not the problem of the country rather a part that carries no weight.
Instead of appreciating his honesty, una dey roast am like suya. Is this the way to actually correct the wrongs?! Others who might wish to follow his step incase they make mistake would have a rethink.
JAMB made a terrible mistake, agreed. Prof. Oleyede admits it, honorable deed. There will be a resit, great! What else una want?! |

izzou: So when he announced the result, he didn't bury anything?
I don't know why you all are just emotional towards this blunder.
The guy goofed. He messed up. There's nothing courageous about lying and then coming back to say the truth.
He's not some junior officer that spoke out by disobeying his superiors. He's the Supreme Head to JAMB.
In a sane country (which Nigeria is not), he would have resigned after shedding those tears. .......una get energy to drag him cos he came out to admit the error. If he insists there is no error or outrightly ignore the call-outs, we would have got no energy to drag the institution ot him. |

GloriousGbola: well .actually it was oba that laid the groundwork for reforms.
there was literally a cabal in unilorin that fought the man at every turn. but he successfully broke them
it will sound like lore or internet BS but when oba officially resumed a 6 foot snake was waiting in his office. there was a lot of talk about how it happened, but today i understand the incident for what it was - the cabal were sending a message and a warning
every nation has some form of standard exams. this is actually very important because your school can be inflating your scores. my sister ws in fgc new bussa from jss1 to jss3. she was coming first first first. then her JSS results were mid. my folks moved her to FGC ilorin, and she took her SSCEs with all As.
a standardized exam is critical.
institution need to be moe than individual though ......I understand your points bruh, still JAMB has outlived its purpose as NYSC. It should be scrapped. SSCE should be enough, then pre-admission exams by the Institution(s). |

afrodoc2: Yeah, i have heard great things about him for years now.
I think he allowed his reputation to cloud his judgement in this case. He was so concerned about maintaining his reputation for excellence that he neglected to do the right thing at the right time on this occasion but ended up staining his own white more.
That is why he was crying. Simple thing he could have done to prevent calamity at the onset, he did not do. ......well, I really don't like it when people get emotional to defend their lapses. I salute his courage though, coz this is Nigeria where its better to bury the truth than revealing it.
He earns my respect for admitting the error and taking steps to correct it. Even though the white garment is stained, he has taken 'hypo' step to unstain it. |

afrodoc2: I heard that this Registrar was very competent. It looks like some of his IT people dropped the ball badly and unfortunately, he might have to suffer for it. He seems to be trying to do the right thing because the JAMB of previous years would have denied even under threat of hellfire torture.
I had a classmate who would have scored the highest in JAMB if his result was released but it was withheld for some bogus reason. His parents went looking for the result personally in JAMB through official and informal means. He had to do JAMB again the next year and smashed it badly again and was one of the highest in the country but this time they released it.
I had another friend who i think had 8A1s and was always scoring 30-40 marks more than most of his classmates in every single Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics exam only for JAMB to give him the same score as those classmates in JAMB Physics. it was like JAMB giving you and Einstein the same score.
Those people have unfairly altered so many destinies. .......Prof. Oleyede is a great guy. Same person reformed University of Ilorin. If he resigns or sacked, then JAMB should be scrapped cos to me it has outlived its purpose.
Let Universities and other tertiary Institutions enjoy full Autonomy. |

GloriousGbola: the refinery was commissioned in 2012, and that was the last we heard of it
what you are doing is called an own goal
the refinery is even more dubious than NNPC refinery TAM
the last i remember of the refinery it was buried underwater in the same 2012 by flooding
in the end that is not a testament to obi's competence, but to his incompetence as a planner , his cluelessness on risk management and his poor understanding of anything outside trading. he did say to soludo 'i am a trader' . anyway, as a project matter, some people got paid, so the 'project' was a success
maybe NNPC consulted on the construction. It has the same vibes as port Harcourt refinery rehabilitation ......even the state's investment in the Breweries don enter voice note. LOL! |
