It has really gotten so bad in here o...the influx of posters in the last couple of Weeks has messed up things. I'm quite sure that if anyone here genuinely gets an offer letter, he/she could go to the extent of posting the contents of the said letter. I don't just understand why someone would intentionally heat up the thread...it's so silly.

BusinessRe: There Is No Credible Bank In Nigeria, The Worst Of Them Is First Bank by oayombo: 4:10pm On Apr 05, 2012
saxywale: Olodo rabata, quack cso indeed, u must be a cretin. So you think a customer would just pay you a visit then open an account with your bank without some prior knowledge of what he wants. I only opened the account cos it was one of the few savings account in Nigeria that accepts cheque payment through clearing. Really sanusi needs to do a lot of work, you lot must think the customers are stupid.

This oga doesn't even know what is meant by a welcome pack. LOL. I am sure he's a customer service manager in a naija bank. Let me educate you just as I educated the lad at the Fidelity bank, when you open a bank account, even if It's the most basic the bank offers, you are sent the welcome pack which includes, a thank you letter, how to use the account, what to expect from the account, small prints/t&c of the account. This is sent after necessary risk and kyc checks must have been carried out. It could take a week or two to come by post in Advanced countries, you might need to obtain the pack in a Nigeria branch.
We are talking about customer service, u claim to work in a bank but you suck at talking to people politely.

Ofuks: I think you are the original Olodo. The documents stating the terms and conditions of a Nigerian bank account comes with the account opening package...isnt it strange for a sane man to sign a contract before reading the T & C? Well, ofcourse you dont work in Naija. You work in Niger. Mscheeew.
Don't mind that mumu who works in cotonou feeling like am international banker.

Idango: Im a costmer of firstbank and i want to tell you a few things you dont know:

1. My friend who live in California had an account in first bank before, he also has a firstbank naira mastercard, he uses that card to pay for things he bought in the us. If you are owing him, he will tell you to pay it into his first bank account, he spend his money in firstbank over there in the US. It is only first card that you can use overseas without being questioned whether it is a nigerian card. Just try it, since then i also got a first bank naira master card and discovered that i use it anywhere all over the world.

2.Do you know you can sit in the comfort of your room or office and connect to your www.1stbanknigeria-online.com and access your account or transfer money to any account in any bank in nigeria? This also can be put on your phone and you can do business online on your phone. Gtbank also has improved greatly in terms of online banking, with Gtbank you can even transfer fx currency from your domiciliary account to any account all over the world in addition to transfering to any bank within nigeria.
I've never heard of that website u posted o...hmmm

temmytanny: you are right,i have a friend that got a N100m contract from a company. He has his company account with first bank. the company paid 15% of the project into his account over a month ago and up till now First bank has been playing pranks on him refusing to giving the money to do the project.
I'm sure u don't know what the real issue is cuz u r not the one in question. The bank can't holds your funds without a genuine reason.

stalwartnaija: Quality customer relationship and service delivery is one business principle that Nigerian companies lack. Be they banks, telcos, or even roadside traders - all are poor when it comes to providing service that is pleasing to the customer. For the banks they are more concerned about generating deposit and creating income disregarding the fact that all these will come when you serve your customers well. Anyway, these things do happen in an undeveloped market like ours. Coming to First Bank, it took me one full year to receive their welcome package when I opened an account with them.
What do u mean by welcome package?

doctokwus: Welcome to d ATM wonderland of first bank;can't 4get d wonder their machine performed on me last year:clearly heard d amt I indicated being dispensed by d ATm machine, but d slot just wudnt open,as if(whc I highly suspect) had fraudulently fixed d slot to prevent it from opening.I lost dat mony, but evryday wish dat pson or scheme by dat bank wud b fished out

debetmx: First Bank is the most useles bank in Nigeria. I used their ATM on Friday 23, 2012 and the failed to dispense while it credited my account. I made a report at their head office on Tuesday 27, 2012 and she said i shld wait 4 three days up till now nothing as been done.
The machine didn't dispense cash and you were credited. Your statement alone is enough for them to ask u to wait 3yrs.

challawa: i was so much disappointed with first bank today, they lack competent staff and there service delivery is terrible
Fallacy of hasty generalization, let us know which branch u had that experience at. It isn't the same everywhere. You can always lodge a complaint with the contact centre, rather than come online to post this.

saxywale: I opened a fidelity bank account not long ago, I went into the branch 3 weeks after to demand for the terms and conditions of the account, the customer Service officer smiled and asked what I meant by terms and conditions, true story .. tongue
Talk of medicine after death. You already signed a contract and you now decide to read the conditions much later.

puplin: I actually witnessed a bullion van robbery about 2yrs ago in owerri. Twas like an action film, come and see how they pumped bullets into the bullet proof van till the van no fit move again. Funny thing is, the van was moving with 3 escort vehicles so mopol wey dey inside go be like 20 & they all ran for their lives. Then, this young guy just opened the side door and ran into my grandma village...i wonder how he wasnt hit by any bullet. Then the robbers used gas cylinder to break open the vault and left with 4 5ft long round bags, i can only imagine how much was in those bags. Oh, i was on d roof of my grandma house while all d drama ensued.
They carted away #81m, i was working as a a cash in transit supervisor then o...yes, na me b d young guy. Damn, i just thank God for my life.

Op says his budget is between 30-50k and some people are posting C3 & C5? N8 doesn't fall within that range except it's second hand. I'll advice a C6-01 for a touchscreen device, I'm not sure of the battery life though but I know it has everything you'd want in a mobile device.
