Reports reaching my desk indicated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family in Benue State, sincerely appreciate the visit of the National Chairman Senator Ali Sheriff and Members of the National Working Committee (NWC) to the state, for official commissioning of the state chapter of the party secretariat.

The State Working Committee (SWC), is thankful to the entire PDP family in the state and the NWC, for making this August visit a huge success.

While Commissioning the Office Complex, the Senator Sheriff call on all the PDP family nationwide, to unite and give maximum support for the party’s growth wherever they are, to restore it's actual position as the African Largest Party.

And also call on all those party members who are yet to drop the idea of impunity in the party, to wake up from their deep slumber as the era of that is over in the party, and should bear in mind that it is also alien to the party's constitution.

Thus, every peace loving party member shall accept the decision of the Judiciary in resolving the lingering crises in the party's interest.

Highlight of the event was the official commissioning of the state party secretariat, at Precious Conference Center, Makurdi, Benue State, on the 29th of December, 2016.

Nine year old DJ known as DJ Shine has thrilled guests at the 2016 Christmas show (DJ Night on Sunday) held at the Christmas village, Calabar Municipality, Cross River State.

The nine years old who was called on stage to show what he could do, got the crowd thrilled as he fingered the disc jockey machine.

Standing on a plastic chair as the DJ wheel was taller than him, the audience was swept off their feet by his tunes.

His father who happens to be a professional disc jockey, DJ Big appreciates the Government of the State for such opportunity that allows youths to try their ability and talent.

He concluded by promising to do all within his prowess to keep DJ Shine fit and prayed the sky be his starting point.

Christmas Gifts: Borno State First lady, founder of SWOT foundation, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, on Saturday gives some bags of rice and cartons of supergety, gallon of palm, semovita and cash to the Christian widows in Maiduguri at Multipurpose Hall for Christmas. In her address on the occasion, she said that the gifts was to support the Christian widows and their families...

In the spirit of the tortoise season, wife of the Borno State Governor and Founder SWOT Foundation, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima is splashing out Christmas gifts to Christian widows in Borno State. Over 300 widows are benefitting in this year's kind gesture.
The gifts being distributed to each widow include 25Kg bag of rice, one carton of Spaghetti, one gallon of palm Oil and cash gift.

The First Lady is wishing all Christian faithful in the State and beyond a merry Christmas, and happy new year in advance.

Mrs Nana Shettima, who was able represented by the Chairman of the Foundation Alhaji Mohammed Bello Sardaunan Gwoza today presented the gifts. the Chairman said the kind gesture was done out of passion, love and unity. “He said, I know there are widows here and I see a lot of Christian mothers and the youth  too, it is likely to be here”.

“The religion both says how good and pleasant it is when God makes us enjoy together in peace, tranquility, progress and unity. “I am not here in my own capacity; I am here representing the wife of the Governor of Borno State . “Everyone knows that she has a large heart and she has sent a lot of items to the Christian community, I am here to represent her the wife of the Borno State Gov Hajiya Nana Shettima representation over of the food  items to you ,” he said.

Responding, the Borno State Widows Association Chairpersons, thanked Hajiya Nana for identifying with the Christian community at this festival period. Mrs assured that the items would be celebrated for all the Christmas festival.

“We want to assure you that by the grace of God, the celebration would go peacefully all the days in the State.

Also speaking, said the kind gesture showed a sense of unity. “we are really grateful, this is leadership; it is a sense of unity for the State. “Hajiya Nana is a Muslim and she knows that this cerebration is for Christians and yet she has decided to brighten the hearts of Christians,” Chairperson said.

At least 6 people were burnt beyond recognition after a gas explosion at the Louis Gas Station behind the Ghana Intentional Trade Fair Centre at Labadi in Accra.At least 12 people are in critical condition after sustaining major degrees of burns from the fire that came with the explosion. 

The explosion with its attendant fire outbreak was said to have started about 6 p.m at the gas station near the Zenith University College.Properties running into several thousands of cedis were destroyef in the incident.

The spokesperson of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Prince Billy-Anaglatey on Thursday said...

“The fire is blazing and we are doing everything possible to quench it. The Armed Forces fire fighters are here too and doing everything possible to ensure this fire is actually extinguished".


The officers of the Ghana National Fire Service brought  three fire tenders to put the fire out but that appeared to be inadequate as the fire raged further. The personnel went for a refill and later returned to the accident scene.  


Officers of the police service were also at the scene trying to control the crowd some of whom were threatening to go closer to catch a sight of the fire. The explosion led to blackout in parts of the catchment area.

200,000 Graduate Jobs, more are coming - Ngige
Vows to Capture 50% of Nigerians under Social Security Net.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige says the decision of the Federal Government to employ 200,000 graduates in the first phase of its social intervention scheme, despite teething economic challenges, is an eloquent expression of its dogged commitment to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty and promised that more jobs were coming. Ngige similarly vowed that at least 50 percent of the country's population would be captured under the social security net within the life of the present administration.

" Social Intervention is one of the cardinal progammes of the present administration in Nigeria. Our objective is to tackle youth unemployment and restiveness through job creation notwithstanding the tough economic challenges we face. "

" Some of the programmes in our integrated social protection scheme are already being implemented as evidenced in the 200,000 graduates who will commence work by next month. More of the jobs are in the offing . Our target is to ensure that millions of Nigerians are lifted out of poverty line while at least 50 percent of the population are captured in the social security net."

Sen. Chris Ngige made the assertion while presenting the country position at the on-going World Social Security Summit in Panama City, Panama. Speaking under the theme, " Evolving Role of Social Security in a Changing World," Sen. Ngige stated that despite teething economic challenges faced by Nigeria, the Federal Government would remain undeterred in pursuing its social security goals, adding that priority being given to healthcare delivery to the rural dwellers was core to the agenda of government. He also said government was geared to give more support to the operations of the National Health Insurance Scheme as well as that of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) and assured that the activities of the National Social Insurance Trust Fund( NSITF) were being enhanced to make it more responsive to achieving social security goals.

The Summit is being organized under the auspices of the International Social Security Association Association( ISSA) a major social partner of the International Labour Organisation( ILO) and hosted this year by the Government of Panama. The Summit brings together Ministers and representatives of International Organisations in order to complement the commitment of ISSA members to excellence in the administration of social security through emphasis on the vital role of political will as well as innovative policies as contained in the United Nations Organisation's sustainable goals.

Earlier on the sidelines of the summit, Sen. Ngige sought the assistance of China in developing and deepening Nigeria's social protection programmes . In a bilateral discussion with the Chinese Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, Mr. Yin Weimin, the Labour and Employment Minister revealed that Nigeria would tap into the Chinese model of Social Security Academy in order to institutionalize social security practices in the country . China won the best Social Security Nation for year 2016, having captured one hundred million persons yearly into her social security, totaling a billion in the last decade.

'JUSTICE FOR SAMINU BARA'U (DANLAMI)

A father of 3, commercial bus driver; Saminu Bara'u popularly known as Danlamiwas killed cold-blooded by a police officer in Maraban Jos, Kaduna State.

The incidence occured around 8pm of Tuesday 15th November 2016 whule the victim was sitted outside his residence in Maraban Jos when a team of police stormed the area in the name of patrol. Having fractured leg and being innocent, Danlami remain sitted as the police arrived. One Police Officer nicknamed KURA (literarilly mean Hyena) ordered Danlami to stand up and run pr he shoot him, which he calmly replied that he cannot run because his leg is fractured displaying his crutches. Unfortunately for Danlami, the barbaric for KURA shot him to dead (the pic). Immediately afte he shot Danlami, angry youths descended on KURA and were about to take jungle justice on him. It takes an intervation of some respected elders and a human right activist (name with-held) to rescue him.

The case has since been filed at Unguwan Sunusi Police Station and we learnt that KURA was transferred to State CID. Our fear is the usual, we don't want the case dead at arrival just because a Police Officer involved.

Let us stand up for justice! Let us think of his wife and 3 kids! The State Government should do something!! The IGP should ensure KURA is brought to book!!!

His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR the Executive Governor of Kano State and Alhaji Aminu Dantata today arrived in Sokoto State leading the Kano delegation to the burial of late Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki who died last night.

Governor Ganduje and his Kebbi State counterpart also received the federal government's delegation at the Sokoto airport comprising of ministers and other top government officials.
