udeh3: Lies from the pits of hell!!! The best a lecturer can do is to rush the students and make up for everything with two weeks of revision. Then exam! Then they'll be high record of mass failure! Lecturers will come to class and stamp their foot in the ground boasting of how they'll get paid whether they come to class or not. That has always been the tradition! |

NezzyMike: In reply to the bolded, the govt wouldn't take the union seriously because they are accustomed to seeing them go on yearly strikes. If ASUU had used this same energy to pressure the government while school activities were ongoing, things may have been better. But ASUU beleives strike will yield rapid action (How far after 6 months and counting?) ASUU must not get a dime for all the months not worked for! |

DevilSignature: In reply to the bolded, if I was to be in ASUU shoes, I'll be sane enough to understand that 3 months strike is enough to show my greivances. Wanting pay after 6 months strike means I am a theif, and I should be prosecuted, or forced to resign. |

BrutusOj: We all know the govt is corrupt! Let the government spend ASUU salary anyhow they seem fit. But ASUU must be taught a lesson. Even if it's just this once. Are they the only one Yearly strike since over 2 decades |

babyfaceafrica: The government keeps promoting more strike by always paying them before they call off strike. Let them take away the payments, and we'll see changes. |
Politics / Re: FG Slams ASUU, Insists On No-Work-No-Pay Policy by Oblivion34: 2:09am On Sep 05, 2022 |
Middleborn: Two weeks of revision, and exams is backlog of work? Who is responsible for the backlog of work? I believe ASUU declared strike because the government were yet to meet with their demands, and were hoping to get rapid action when they declared strike (How far after 6 months?) ASUU chose to declare strike because they want their voices to be heard. They took it too far by going 6 months while expecting pay. If ASUU were patient enough to keep meeting up with government while school was in session, their demands would have been met.. But we know ASUU are used to going on yearly strike, then resume with enough salary arrears in their pocket. The "No work, no Pay" policy must stand. That will teach the union to start thinking twice before declaring yearly strike! |

TenQ: Yes we know! All the money owed by the previous administration has not been paid. Every new administration keeps borrowing. ASUU should renegotiate the 2009 agreements with the next administration. Or come up with a new negotiation that will be implemented with immediate effect! |

TenQ: Yes! We all know all that. But are the union ready to listen to what the government has to offer? We know the government can't meet all of ASUU demands, but are ASUU ready to listen to what the government can do? Let the "No, work No pay" rule stand, and let's changes in the system. |

shortIGBOman: Paying them for work not done has served as the foundation for yearly strike. Let the union sacrifice their salaries, just as the students sacrificed their precious time, and let's see if ASUU will be bold enough to declare strike next year! 1 Like 1 Share |

TenQ: From what I read, ASUU were constantly sending out letters, memos, etc before they declared strike. I beleive the government did not respond to all of those memos, and letters because they understand that it is that time of the year for ASUU to go on strike. It's a every year thing! |

sultan003: So you are agreeing to the fact that the government should always hire interim lecturers to teach when ASUU declares strike. That way they can go on strike for as long as they want, and will agree to not get paid at the end? You are brilliant! |

janvier27: The government has been engaging them in discussions since the first month the union declared strike. The government stopped showing concerns because of the annoying demands of the union. The strike was not forced on them. They chose to pause work while waiting for rapid action from the government. The "No work, No pay" rule must stand! |

JJuanMiguel: I can't help but to buhahahaha There's a 50% chance that their demands might have been considered if the president was planning to run for a second term. But the president is leaving, and may never pursue any political ambitions in future. If I were ASUU, I'll take what the government has to offer, and see how it goes from there! |

I have seen similar comments on diverse social media platform (excluding Nairaland) If that's how you people reason. Then shame on you all!!! |

loko50: I don't care to know the figures in the Briggs report. The government has said this is what they have to offer. You either take it while asking for slight increase or you leave it. Stop stressing this! And again the "No work, No pay" clause must stand until the very end. It should be a sacrifice for the cause, and we will always remember it. |
