my ogas in the house, the school i applied to sent me my i20 indicating my program as liberal art and sciences but when i applied, i applied for criminal justice, me just confuse oo cos i don't even no wat is liberal not to talk of art and science . i have been researching steady online cos i guess i have to defend it to the vo as if dats wat i really want. the only good news about it is dat i guess its only NOUN dat offers it in niaja so it wud be a good reason to want to go study it in yankee.

my interview is on the 23rd but i just noticed that the initial statement i got from my uncle ended in may cos i deferred my admission after he gave me the statement. the prob i have now is dat he is not presently in the country and its his name on the i20 as my sponsor and dat was wat i filled in my ds160. i dont no wat to do brodas pls advice me. the statement he gave me ran from dec 2012 - may 2013

in such situation, i guess your other document i.e GMAT, GRE, who is ur sponsor would determine alot.

Ricky Rozay: YES exactly, that's the Point! You need to tell the VOs what they need to hear...

Even when you come clean in most cases and say the truth and the truth you told doesn't still make rythms and senses to the VO's ears, your application will still be DENIED! Painful truth!.

So tell em what they need to hear and You need to Package yourself Well Well before heading to the US embassy....

See you need to be sharp on that day of the Interview.. The VOs are very smart, and they can detect if you lying, through eye contact, Body Language and Unnecessary Stammering to questions being asked.

These people are trained psycologist you dealing with, but you need to demonstrate to em you are Much smarter... You be 9ja boy. No fear.. God pass em...

As US student Visa applicant, you need to learn how to think very fast! That's very important! Becos these VOs can ask you a question more than ONCE when they suspect something fishy or suspect you might be telling lies and they will want to NAIL you down so they will believe you must have forgotten what you have said to em innitially.

You know when you lie, you will need a thousand lies to cover up the lies you have told.. And most lies people tell might be forgotten.. But TRUTH will Never be Forgotten.

So pls once Again, Be Smart and Learn how to think fast on that Day..

I know why I'm saying this, it happened to me on the day of my Interview.. The VO asked me some questions more than once in different question formats and she was PRETENDING like as if she didn't remember what she previously asked me and the reply I gave her, thinking I was going to change my stance after asking me the same question the 2nd time but I still stood by my words and said exactly the same thing as I filled on my DS 160 form.. No Shaking!!!!

Consistency is another Major factor involving US Visa applications..

See what you will do, AFTER filling your DS 160 form, the day you submit the form, Pls do MAKE SURE you PRINT-OUT the whole application you filled so you can go home and practice and prepare with what you filled, so you don't Forget anything on that Day..

Have your Filled DS 160 form on your Finger tips after submitting it.. That's very important..

Regarding the Employment letter, Since you are telling the VO you were once employed, you still need to take a document to back-up this claim just incase the VO demand to see proof so you don't go there and be looking like a LEARNER....

But they hardly request for documents.. But you still need to get a Letter of Employment from the company you claim you worked for and let em type it on the company's Letter-headed paper and let them Back-date the Letter as well so you can be on a safer side.. You need to prepare for the Unexpected.. So you DON'T give the VOs any slight reason to DENY you..

For example, you were employed in the company on the 15th of March 2010. Let the Letter of Employment be dated on the 15th of March 2010..

Please Once again, Be smart on that day and MOST importantly learn how to think fast..

If you do all this things, I see you coming home with your US student Visa by fire by Force..

dolapobello1: Obotubong, it does look as though there are (or you are looking to include) a number of LIES in your application. Just make sure your memory is in top shape on the D-day and don't shoot yourself in the leg at the embassy.

my bro, somethings are complicated and i wudnt wanna bore u with them, as u advised, i have written all i filled on my DS160 on a paper and wat i am trying to do is make sure am consistent and it all adds up. i no LYING is wrong but i have no choice now. the truth is that the truth doesn't always help you in all situation. i have to tell them what they wanna hear not necessarily the truth.

i ask again, do i need to carry prof of current employment with me?

if i include in my DS160 that i am currently working, do i need to carry any prof? and if yes, please wat doc should i take with me incase they ask and wanna see some prof

bro it isnt complicated, what i meant is dat my dad is in the US and he is a permanent resident ( been there for 20yrs) but dont no if he is a citizen yet, he is in connecticut. but connecticut isn't the state my school is located it is in texas. wat i want to know is dat do i include in my ds160 that my dad is in the states? there is a place i can tick if my dad is in the states but cos my initial plan was to claim he is dead and that is why my uncle is sponsoring me so i am confused. pls i need advice

bigfrancis21: Why don't you go for M.Sc instead? Rather than wasting another 4 years of your life doing UG again? Or better still apply as a transfer student, transfer your credits and get placed somewhere around 400 level so that you'll have just 1 year to spend in UG school?

2004 is quite a long gap to cover. That's almost 10years.

If I were you, given this your long gap, I'd include my former B.sc. Let it not look like I've been idle and lazy all these years. Abi o, house? At least I was busy. I attended school. Then I'll now come up with a cogent reason as to why I want another B.Sc degree. If both former and present ones aren't related, I'd start by mentioning how my former course wasn't my preferred choice of course. How my father/mother pressured me into reading it and how I've not been deriving satisfaction from it ever since I graduated and started working in the field. And how I've discovered myself and the course I'm truly passionate about and have decided to go for it.

Or you can come up with something better.

bro the probs i have now is that when i filled my ds 160 i didn't include my uni education and bringing it up at the interview may cause probs. as at when i filled my form, i was so naive about the time difference being an issue and now i am stoked. what do you advice? do i tell about my BSC degree when asked or do i cook up something better?

kunlebal: Pally why bsc again when you have bsc already, it will be very difficult to convince the VO that you remain undergraduate for the past 9 good years. The gap is just too much but all the same nothing is impossible.

actually i wanted changing my field of study cos my BSC no tite at all if you no wat i mean, and in my ds 160 i didn't state that i have a bsc. what i have in mind to say if i am asked is dat when my father died ( he is alive duo ) i had to spend 4yrs working to raise money for my uni tuition and when i got admission to a very technical program, i was schooling and working but my coarse of studying wasn't my passion and my work didn't afford me enough time to full time studies. i work in a human right law chambers and that was where i found my passion in helping defending the innocent and poor because of all my trials i faced when my father died. my boss saw the passion in me and as my uncle (my sponsors) as a major stakeholder in the firm decided to sponsor my education so i can come back after schooling and pursue my passion in truth and human right investigation, ( why i am stating the human right law firm is cos i am going for criminal justice administration) abeg this reason na rough thinking stuff, abeg i need una to help refine my reason cos 2 heads better pass only me.

Tochium: the chances of securing visa wif a community college r slim. He should go for a 4year Uni. I forgot to include Louisiana State Uni in the previous list. All the best in ur visa interview.

yea actually i am going for an associate degree in a community college, i may be the 1st you see granted visa for a community college if GOD permits. so my fingers are crossed.

most community colleges too offer SAT free admission cos it is an open admission system schools. i am going for my visa appointment on 23rd. i know with GOD all things are possible and i would come here to share my testimony on 23rd. AMEN
