One of the unfulfilled plans is probably to marry three more wives... ![]() |
So if ordinary Kenya can get drone pictures of bandits/terrorists, what is keeping Nigeria from doing the needful and saving hundreds of life that get wasted on a regular basis? ...when you try so hard to extricate yourself from failure and end up making yourself a bigger failure. Everyone already knows that this government is sympathetic to terrorists, so why don't you just pretend like the video never circulated. Nigerians are so forgetful that they would soon forget about it like they already did up until now. |
Naijaaa...I thought it was Maduka Okoye that was the problem. |
Wow! we are really getting there...I hope you are rooting for Tinubu too. |
I have to warn beforehand that this is going to be a fairly long writeup but don’t be scared to read through if you are a genuine football lover. Before I give my reasons, I should add that such a person (who thinks Ronaldo a better player) apart from being ignorant, could just be purely sentimental. But sentiment should not be a basis for judgment in anything we do. So last week, PSG exited the champions league in what is admittedly an embarrassing fashion after taking a 2nil aggregate lead, and people were literally having Messi’s head for dinner. The noise increased when a few days ago CR7 after what seemed like years without a goal scored a clearly fantastic hat-trick against Tottenham. It was so hilarious how the GOAT debate was automatically resonated, and people were taking all sorts of jibe at Leo. So here is the thing: The game of football is a fantastic one with a lot of nuances and intricacies. There are various departments in the game and although goals are what make football interesting, each of the departments matters almost as equally as the other. This is why you cannot win games with a team made of defenders only or midfielders only or even attackers only. Moreover, each department in football has sub-departments. For instance, in defense, we have center-backs, as well as wing-backs. Each of these (sub)departments is judged differently from the others. A wingback is judged not just on his/her defensive abilities, but also on his/her ability to overlap and cross balls, unlike a centre-back who is judged mostly on his ability to handle one on one situations and aerial balls. So these are some of the intricacies involved in the game. Now back to our GOATS, Ronaldo is a typical number 9, a point-man striker, while Messi is a typical number 10, a playmaker. A number 9 is judged mostly by his goal return, and CR7 no doubt has been incredible over the years in this regard. He has scored more goals than anyone in the history of the game. But a number 10 is judged by a number of things: ability to dictate the game, create chances, give assists, and lastly score. Scoring is lowest in the order of the expectations for a playmaker, although it is what matters most in football. So a striker is expected to score more goals than a playmaker, but a playmaker is expected to have more assists, create more chances, or even have more dribbles, etc. I know Messi is sometimes deployed as a false nine, just like Ronaldo sometimes plays from the wing. But this is not their natural role, and they should definitely not be judged from that department. Now when you compare both players in the overall statistics, you will discover that CR7 is nowhere around Messi in the GOAT debate. Ronaldo(804) has scored just about 45 goals more than Messi(759) in all time career goals despite the fact that the former has played much more games (1106) than the later (957) who by the way is not supposed to be judged primarily by goals. In every other return, Messi is ahead by far, ranging from assists, chances created, Man of the Match awards received, dribbles completed, shot accuracy/conversion rate, etc. The ONLY AREA WHERE RONALDO HAS A NARROW LEAD IS IN THE AMOUNT OF GOALS SCORED, AND THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE HAS PLAYED MUCH MORE GAMES THAN MESSI. Is it not surprising that when both players played together in the same league, Messi won more golden boots(5) than Ronaldo(3) notwithstanding that the later is a striker? So if it is not about whom you like more or who motivates you, but who is the real football GOAT, it is unquestionably the magical Argentine. If you doubt this, then you know very little about football. If you ask a 100 people who have been directly involved in the game either as players or coaches, more than 80 of them will definitely pick Messi as the GOAT, except of course those with vested interests like fellow teammates or countrymen. I give it to both players however, I don’t think football will ever again witness such a rivalry in centuries to come.

Na wao...Sahara no get joy... ![]() Thank God this is not an Igbo media...otherwise they would say it is Ipob haters. But why are human beings this evil and selfish? All those people singing his praise are after their pockets not after the good interest of this country. But time will tell. Disgrace awaits all of them. And by the way, why is Seun mods not taking any of these hot trending news to the front page? Abi they think they can suppress the truth like that? Journalism should be about truth and nothing more, but most Yoruba media (no hate intended) use their forum to twist and suppress the truth. Only it is becoming increasingly difficult to do that in this modern era. |
The aid did nothing wrong. He was only answering to the survival instinct. Who wants to open his mouth in front of ammonia gas. But I bet he didn't know the camera would catch him. |
Na wao...indeed this is Buhari pro max as they said...For some human beings to be supporting this man being president...something is really wrong with that country...But those will be put to shame when the time comes. |

So I decided to create this thread because of an alarming ignorance which I noticed from the commenters in an earlier thread today about alcohol not being sinful. The ignorance is about whether Jesus turned water into an alcoholic drink or not. The funny thing was that one of the commenters was bragging about his ignorance and was calling the actually correct person the ignorant one. So here's the thing. The bible (all versions) clearly stated that Jesus at a wedding feast turned water into wine. There are two proofs here to show that what Jesus turned water into was alcoholic: The first is from the simple basic dictionary meaning of wine: 'an alcoholic beverage'... Most Nigerians erroneously say things like 'Eva wine" when they mean 'Eva juice'. ( You need to check the containers of the beverages you buy. If you ever see 'wine' used to address anyone of them with zero alcoholic content, then just know that the producers are ignorant.) So yeah, a wine by its nature is basically an alcoholic drink. There is nothing like 'non-alcoholic wine'...It is like saying 'my barren mother' or 'a dry water' It is logically impossible to conceive such let alone have it in reality. The second reason is the historical context of the event. We need to know that this event took place in a Jewish setting, and for some religious reasons, having wine at a wedding ceremony was a necessity. It doesn't matter that this wine may be fermented locally. This is same reason why till today, catholic priests (and indeed some other denominations) use alcoholic drink as altar wine. It is historical and associated with the semitic religious practices. In any case, what the Rev. Fr. Oluoma was trying to say was a simple truth...alcohol can be, and is often medicinal. In fact...medical report suggests that those who take alcohol moderately are healthier than those who either take it excessively or who neither take it at all. I once had a friend who as part of the therapy for his heart problem was asked to constantly take tobacco and other nicotines by his doctors. And these were foreign doctors. Red wine in particular is good for your heart. So the next time you see someone taking an alcoholic drink...don't think he is a lost soul or a scumbag. Just make sure (especially if he is related to you), that he 'drinks responsibly'. Thank you.

Hmmm, nothing wey Tinubu no go see inside drug market |
Congrats Odogwu... I hope you lead well. |
Wow! Cool stuffs. |
I totally condemn the act...it was babaric and evil. But let's not forget that this is how these officers kill some of the youths with reckless abandon. From the look of things in the video, those boys were on a revenge mission and I doubt if they have any connection with IPOB. A lot of lives have been wasted by our security agencies, and in many cases they deny or cover it up just like they keep doing in the case of Lekki toll gate. Nonetheless, you do not repay evil with evil, especially not in such a gory manner. |
Hello folks...I just want a frank answer to this question. I just realized that there is this place I go to whenever I want to have a good laugh, and I am never disappointed. I'm kinda addicted to it already without knowing it. I know a lot of people might have different places to go to if they want some comic relief: watch a comedy movie, visit a hilarious friend, go to a comedy show or picnic, etc. But guess what, I don't have to travel that far to have a good laugh. I just need to log onto nairaland, straight to the comments section, and that's it. It is almost impossible to open any thread on nairaland without seeing some crazy ass comment that will make you laugh until you crack your ribs. I don't know if this is same with anyone else? I would like to get your views in the comment section below. Where do you have to go to get cracked up? |

In as much as I applaud the wheel of justice in this case, there is a part of the whole story which has been sidelined, and which unfortunately no one is asking questions about: What happened to the Otedolas and the whole lot of others who were involved in the subsidy scam? None of them have been prosecuted till date, and yet the prize of fuel keeps skyrocketing. I salute una oo. |
