SkyEmperor: Hey fellow country people!
I landed in Sweden some months back and the journey so far has been awesome.
Listen guys, no matter the narrative...... Everyone have the privilege to write his/her stories. People fails, people succeed...... The choice is yours. Swedish study permit still the easiest to scale through, just do the right thing and you would have your application approved.
We move ....... And you shall continue to excel in all your endeavors…Amen! |

ikswiss: Why are you thanking me ? Please don’t come for me and pass by if you don’t have anything reasonable to say. Oh sorry, was not referring to you. It was a mistake, My point is since no one should apply to sweden, there’s no need having the group, so other nairalanders won’t use to for their application. Or better still change the name to “Living in Sweden” My own opinion though…. |

hit me up, just got to Gothenburg this evening and should be free Friday and Sunday evening Ok, thank you. Let’s shut down the group then, since no one should apply to sweden universities. |

ikswiss: Yeah you are right.
I want to publicly apologize, if my post discouraged someone,I’m only writing from my experience. I have tested both worlds and my perception is way different from someone coming from Nigeria . I have been to a lot of countries and seen Nigerian working in professional sectors and my aim was to only guide and not to discourage anyone. I mean no harm and wish all applicants the best while in Sweden.
Goodluck to y’all.
I sincerely appreciate you advising and warning new applicants, the truth is that there are personal reasons people may not want to move to those other countries. Nordic countries, Uk, US or canada are not the best in the world, but they ain't as bad as naija. |

Mobil567: Wasn’t referring to culture shock. Meant that sweden is better than Nigerian expect in the culture aspect. Culture in terms of African lifestyle, celebrations and traditions Ok, thank you. |

Mobil567: Bro, thing is, once someone have made up their mind, it’s a sealed decision and whatever anyone advises, barely matters. I know you’re trying to help, but people will keep perceiving your advise wrongly because their mindset is already set to come here. This was the case with me last year. Infact by this time last year, I have already submitted my application and started packing my suitcase. Did I read all these reviews you’ve posted before coming here? Yes. Did I hear bad experiences from both people in sweden and the ones that eventually left? Yes.
But I didn’t care at all. I thought I was prepared for whatever. Now do I regret coming here? No. Sweden is a great place - at least way better than Nigeria in many ways except from the culture. I just wished I prepared better and perhaps, explored other options with sweden still my end goal destination.
So just wish everyone well in their pursuit and let them be. What culture shock do you mean? Prepared better in terms of finances, language, weather or job? At least you’re been truthful in agreeing it’s way better than nigeria, I know people in the uk wanting to move to canada, I know people in canada moving to US, I know people in US moving to sweden and some moving back to nigeria. It’s really about determination and what you want. You can also advice too. Thank you |

ikswiss: I have to stress this out once more. Sweden is an amazing country with its own issues. If you know you can afford studying in an English speaking country please please move there as it’s easier to mingle around and integrate in the system better and faster.
Sweden is tough as Bleep, level of depression is sky rocketing day after day, people hardly integrate here and the job market is somewhat difficult if you don’t speak the language or know people that know people.
To be frank I won’t encourage someone I know personally to move to Sweden, if he/she is coming for a program that won’t yield any employment. Programs that I have seen give foreigners good paying jobs here are IT related programs and Engineering programs other than that you go hear am for Sweden.
I’m tired of seeing graduates in Sweden working as cleaners and warehouse workers, abeg before applying for your studies here do your research well.
No talk say person no tell you. Hejda That’s nice, but the question we all keep asking. Why are you still in sweden and not UK or canada or US. Even if you’re a citizen, I believe you’ll still be affected right since you’re not pure swedish. Or are you in the IT/Engineering department? Why didn’t your parents move to other english speaking country? It’s good to let people know what they are coming into, but do not discourage anyone as those english speaking countries are not easy for some people. A lot of Nigerians are bursting their brains to learn french just so they can enter canada, why can’t they do the same with Swedish language. Or better still come back to Nigeria, let someone else take your place there |

PapaObi: Oby I know Thompson rivers can admit you for their MBA with a 2:2, in fact I am a 100% sure. Their mba is 2 years, after the first year with good grades you would get a pgd certificate in business and after the second year an MBA certificate. Apply to them. It is a good school and I personally believe if you would spend two years studying it may as well be a masters. Just checked it, it’s online learning method. |

After much advice, I have decided to forfeit the 1 yr pgd program I got in Nagiara to get a 2 yrs pgd in International Business Management because of my kids.
Centennial and Thompson Rivers University offers that. Which should I go for? Or should I apply to both schools?
The programs will be for Sept 2022. |

PapaObi: When I did my 1st application in 2018, I paid my first semester school fees and my sibling a Canadian citizen was my sponsor and I was refused based on ties, travel history, purpose and assets. I didn't order my GCMS notes after going through this thread because most of what the GCMS would say is already available here. I reapplied this year. See what I did different. I applied for a master's not PGD in which this time I did not pay any school fees but I showed home ties. I now have a child and I am engaged. Showed pictures and child birth certificate. Showed that my child and his mom are well established. Showed pictures of my parents properties and showed that I stand to inherit them and that was it . Note, they said they don't consider your course of study a reasonable expense. What did you graduate with and what are you applying for? Does it tally with work experience and or your educational background? Answer this question first. And as for the bank statement, you see this lump sum thing is two ways. If the lump sum came in today and then you apply for a visa they would see it as a red flag. I had lump sum, the difference is my lump sum came in February and when I applied in July the money was still there. What this shows is I didn't borrow it because who will borrow me 7million and leave it with me for 5months. I hope this helps a little. Regards Can I appy for a masters with a 2.2 |

PapaObi: Then that is very fine, Your Sop is your greatest weapon. Create a subheading for why you want to further your studies and why the chosen program will help you advance in your career and person in general. Be detailed but concise. Please don't state that you want to continue the business in Canada cause I saw that in your post earlier. Of course I won’t, thank you so much for your response and advise. |

PapaObi: It is very possible to get your study permit with a one year program. Since the course relates with your work I think that is fine. But if you finished with a 1st class or 2:1 please go for a masters. No I have a 2.2 that’s why I’m going for a pgd. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Oby2828: 9:10pm On Oct 27, 2021 |
Bobomaigida: Hi Oby, there isn't a best way to address it, what you have to show is the funding that will be available to take of your tuition and living expenses for your babies and yourself over there, since hubby is employed here, his work can take care of him, so it will be advisable for you to include his SOA and employment letters. Your kind of application needs a good SOP that would explain the funds available, the benefits of your course other things. SO if you have not started writing your SOP, kindly start now. Have started writing it already, I will complete it and send to some gurus in the house to help me check it out. Hope the 1 yr pgd won’t affect it though, or I should just reapply for a 2 yrs pgd? |

PapaObi: Please ensure that the course relates to your work experience and or educational background. And I personally have an issue with 1 year programs, it has a way of saying you just want to enter the system hastingly. Usually the program is like 9 months. This is from personal experience. Thank you for your reply, so do you advice I should reapply for a 2 yrs pgd course? Yes it relates to my work experience, currently running my business and it’s super active, infact will still continue the business while in canada. |

I have decide to apply with my 2 kids and leave hubby out of it as there would be no one to take care of them. He, my business and property will be my home ties. Note: It’s a 1 yr pgd program to study International Business Management, I’ll also be self sponsoring and will submit hubby’s employment letter and statement of account if needed. How best should I address this to the Visa officer? |

Let me run a quick background here, i didnt even know we'll be applying to relocate to Canada till Monday June 7 this year, we have always wanted to move to Canada but the plan has been via Express Entry. Due to age constraint, we decided we should go via school and then we had the UK option too but the plan was to leave Nigeria by December 2022 at worst case scenario. Left for me, the process would probably start around June next year lol but my wife was much into the relocation plan. The funny thing is that i am "agent" and i worked with one of the leading agencies in Nigeria even heading Abuja's branch, students are always asking, bro when you go comot Naija, you wey dey help us, you no wan comot abi..or students asking have you been to all these countries before? lol me wey be say na only Dubai i don go, for some i say yes i don go (i lied), some i tell them the truth that i'm not ready yet.
Fast forward, i applied to school and admission came 2 days after. Deposit was made and we went for upfront medicals, did IELTS and Police Character. We gathered documents and finally submitted August 30, it is pertinent to state that this application was God's grace. I told my wife we should fast and pray every Tuesday till we get approval and our prayers points were specific:
1. God should perfect all the imperfections of the our application in the eyes of the Visa Officers 2. God should not allow our application be delayed for too long. 3. God should have mercy and compassion on our application. 4. I had a dream the 2nd week after i submitted the application that i was approved, so i started praying that God should make the dream a reality and let us get approval as a family.
My church has been about having testimonies in the month of October but 2 things happened that stood out for me. 1st, when i saw Jay316 approval last week Friday Oct 15, i noticed on his timeline that he submitted a week before us, immediately, i keyed into his testimony and approval that God should please let us have our PPR this week. In church this Sunday, Oct 17 we sang raise me up and tapped into Jehovah God raising my family to Canada. Pastor also said someone in the service would testify next week, I also tapped into it as I expect our Canada visa approval this new week in Jesus name. Then this morning around 7:30, NSSPD Pastor Jerry said someone will get the email they have been expecting in 1 hour time and good news before 6pm. Lo and behold, i got 2 emails from IRCC at exactly 8:10am, without checking who sent the mail, i started saying this is IRCC, this is IRCC and when i opend my mail it was IRCC oo, thats how i started dancing and praising God before opening my portal declaring that yes the word of God have to come pass that its going to be approval and when i logged in, i went straight to the bottom and i saw the golden messages CORRESPONDENCE LETTER & ORIGINAL PASSPORT REQUEST, while checking my own, the mail for my daughter came in and 2-3 minutes later, the mail for my wife dropped too. Na baba God do am ooooo, people help me should 3 powerful Hallelujah.
As someone who has been in the study abroad industry for a while, i can boldly say that i got lotta information from this travel thread, thanks to all the gurus that share important information. I didnt do anything anything special but God is his infinite mercy gave us the approval, he made an ordinary application extra ordinary. The only thing i would say to prospective applicants is to take their time to study the thread well and be detailed in their SOP/LOE.
Who did it guys? JESUS...Oh My God...Woowwwwwwwwwwwww What God cannot do does not exist!!! Wow!! Congratulations!! Truly what God cannot do does not exist. Did you use the NSE route or normal online route? |
